    It is Cheap… but

(Self Opinion) I just didn't get why I need it? Why I don't hold my mobile instead of holding this thing? and I need to bring one more thing going out… Isn't the purpose of "Bluetooth Handset" is u don't hv to holding it by yr hand??

    • Clearly this thing is not for practicality nor convenience. It's just a novelty item, something for a laugh.

Gran rings mum's mobile, while toddler bubs is on foot… wants to speak with gran, too…

mum fires up this handset & passes it to bubs… lower RF radiation for bub + my h less costly if bubs drops or throws mobile phone, which now stays safe with mum…

        • +1 point for the cheap handset vs mobile phone but I don't think its as simple as "lower RF radiation".

If you are concerned about RF and SAR, you should be using speakerphone mode.

      • Was in the spa talking the other day, much safer than being in the spa with my HTC One, and more comfortable to hold if you are just talking.

Also you can listen to music thought it if you get a paid app. I was thinking of fitting one into my motorcycle helmet for a cheap hands free, and the wire between mic and ear should be exactly the right length (anyone tried already?)

If you take calls from someone who likes to talk for hours, these should be much nicer than having to hold your smartphone to your ear.
When I get off the phone to one of my bros, my ear hurts from holding the phone up to it for so long.
But they still don't look as comfortable as the old Aust Telecom phones of the 60's to 90's. And I suspect the quality might be shite, esp compared to the ones which used to be sold by thinkgeek. But for $5 so what?

      • nice rubber feel to minimise risk of it slipping from your hand.

        don't drop it…this happened at Dee's & it wasn't a pretty site, unless you want to look inside… :-)

      • The rubber feel is nice, and they sound great and are as loud at least as my phone. Micro usb charging is convenient.

its not to use outdoor, but maybe in the office for example, put your big galaxy note 2/3 phone on the dock, when it rings you just see who on the screen and pick this handset and talk

  • +1

Retro phones were so conformable to hold. I'm in for 1.

    • +2

Yeah - I sort of get that it'd be more comfortable pinned between an ear and shoulder than a thin phone… I guess

      • Esp when phones are all touchscreen, I'm constantly hanging up on people and needing to call back

  • +8

at least the cops won't ping you for talking on your mobile.

    • I doubt we'd be so lucky… they don't call the -other kind "hands-free" for nothing…

  • KK present sorted, thanks!

  • I always thought these were a big joke, but i have seen people actually using them in public.

    • +6

Unfortunately they don't have any cord to strangle them with.

      • I saw someone using the corded version (pink) walking along the street, actually at chatswood station. Nearly dropped everything i was laughing so hard

      • …the USB charging cable capable of murder, but EE don't recommend it…

  • I have one from a DS promotion awhile ago (free with every $150 purchase). It has sat untouched since I got it, but the USB charging cable serves as a good backup to charge my phone at work at least..

  • +1

You could use it for VoIP with your home desktop PC.
    How good is the range?

    Absolute crap

    • I had no problem in an adjacent room in my unit with full brick construction

  • Keep getting "Error creating order" - Any ideas ?? :(

It's a built in system feature to give you time to question whether you really need this item.

      • I like that… :-)

where was this feature when I bought a follicle furled vehicle…

I want one that looks like a banana… Then I can live out my dream of becoming Banana Man!

    • You can get them just google it, I ran across several on Chinese sites :)

    Phone + radiation= cancer
Phone + ancient device = happy face :)

    • no phone = no cancer from radiation

this device = useless without phone = save $5

    • It will make people around you happy as well, expect smirks and laughter!

  • Thanks. Ordered one, and collected from Camberwell VIC. They have a bin inside the front door full of them, so it's not just an online thing.

So, is use of a retro BT handset legal while driving?

    • Use of anything retro while driving should, be illegal

  • DSE had them marked $19.95, but a staffer told me they were introduced at ~ $ 50… doubtful, unless DSE can get a tax deduction for the loss, by dumping the them @ $ 5 each.

  • Thanks, good deal :)

  • Thanks - just delivered - awesome.

  • They need a shoe version of this. We can all run around like Agent 86.

Ah too late anyways… I missed the deal by that much…
