  • good deal thanks op

Costco bringing their US prices down under…actually this is cheaper than the US, since our dollar is weaker.

OP, do they have great deals on any other games? I'm interested in 3DS ones at the moment.

    • actually this is cheaper than the US

A fair bit cheaper considering most quoted/headline US prices don't include sales tax (which varies from state to state), whereas all Australian prices must include GST. ;)

This is a great price for such a new release.

    • Didn't see anything else that caught my eye aside from the 3DS XL console for 224.95, other than that the 3DS games were in about the 40-55$ range

I'm still waiting for my copy from HK

    DAMNNNNNN

  • Very good price for local new release.

  • damn this cheap already. Thanks for sharing op.

  • +5

Ah I'm still waiting for the PC version

    • Wasn't there a guy who said he'd wait for Red Dead Redemption's PC version?

      • +6

@Strand0410 Red Dead Redemption was developed by Rockstar San Diego, which doesn't have a history of PC releases, with the sole exception of a crappy port of Midnight Club II back in 2003.

GTA V, on the other hand, was developed by Rockstar North, who has released almost all of their titles (and all of their major ones including all previous GTAs) for the PC. I think it's pretty reasonable to expect GTA V for the PC in the next few months. :)

        • it's rumoured to be released late next year.
there were reported leaks from various retailers.

          I don't think it's worth waiting a whole year.

        • +2

Wait till Humble Bundle is selling it so I can buy it for <$5.

        • That's an awful lot of hair-splitting. GTA IV was heavily delayed on PC too. V might get there someday but I doubt before the end of this year and certainly after the PS4/Xbone versions.

  • Does Costco do refunds for videogames?

    • I believe Costco is really good with their refund policy.

    • +4

Costco's refund policy calls for 100% satisfaction or your money back. Yes this means you can buy their biggest TV for the Superbowl (as Americans have done) and return it the next day.

  • +2

This game is massive. Played 20 hours over past 3 weeks (work during the day) bearly 30% thru. Love it

    • Agree huge game. GTA V single player has around 69 main missions and 21 side missions plus all the little things you can do like chase down bag snatcher or car jacker for a citizen as well as many sporting activities and car races. Then there are the three alternative endings and multiple decisions you make in some missions which leads to some good replay value. Plus the 700 missions, 15 player action and additional playable characters available in online play.

warning: this game is a time sink. highly addictive.

  • OP any indication of what their stock levels were like?

    • Hi unity1, did not check the stock levels as I was only browsing through the aisle but they usually have a good number of copies in the store room. Will be best to ring up beforehand

  • This game is exceptional, it utterly decimates 4 and is personally the best game I've ever played. Buy it.

  • Looks like I'm stopping at Costco tonight!

  • +1

I was able to get mine for $56 @ JB Hi-Fi. Bought a preowned copy of Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider for 35 each from EB Games. Gave the 20% off purchase voucher, then traded it to JB Hi-fi since it was on their trade-in list

    • now that's some quality tightarsing about.

      • Those 2 games wer removed from their trad in list weeks ago.
Possibly cud do something similar on ps3 list.
Easier to just import and wait 7 days or get 2nd hand off gumtree

  • may have to go tonight…anyone have idea on stock levels??

OzGameShop.com thats all i have to say

It's like $9 more there? You might have to say more, chum.

  • /PC? :(

    • +1

no doubt it will be some time next year….

All about making the most $$ out of the ps3/Xbox versions, if they told you dates on the PC release, people are more likely to hold off buying. In this current situation lots of people will end up buying both versions.

      • -2

U can count on PS4 version coming out before a PC one ever even get annouced. Bite the bullet and get a ps3. Its worth it

  • +2

Has anyone checked if this available in Auburn?

    • No PS3 copies left, about 5-6 xbox copies left right now, although the guy said they'd probably be getting more in but couldn't tell me when

      • +2

did you ask the sleazy looking guy near the jewellery? he is a straight out liar - ask the friendly asian dude in the red coat - i just got 5 copies

        • +1

Lol seriously? Oh well, and yep I asked him cos he was standing at the games, nobody else was around, doesn't matter

  • Costco. Ha!

  • waiting for PS4 version

  • Stock is available at docklands Costco. Just not on shelf so just ask. Bought my copy just now

    Got the ps3 version

  • Harvey Norman Fyshwick price matched (actually beat the Costco price) - I got it for $59 today.

    Edit XBox 360 version

Hope this helps some of you get this deal if your local costco is sold out or you don't have one of their memberships. Cheers.

    • Is it normal for them to do that? If I went to my local HN would they do it?

      • I'm also curious, and I'm wanting to try it in Sydney. I have my doubts… Thoughts?

        • Harvey Norman (Moore park supacenter) wouldn't match it, but brought it to their launch price of $69 (is marked at $98). I didn't buy it.

  • Got a copy, thanks OP.

  • +1

Such a good deal, shame there is no Costco in Perth :(

  • Can anyone confirm whether the price is still the same at Costco? Or has it increased?

    • I picked up a copy at Costco Docklands last Weds (16/10) and it was still $59. From what I could see in the back room they had quite a few copies.

      • Sweet. Will go in today to hopefully grab a copy.

  • Still have stock in Auburn NSW? don't really want to drive there for no reason :P

  • picked up one today from docklands, price still the same.

  • +1

    Price matched at JBHifi.
    Docket might help someone else.

    • Great! I live near there and have a day off work tomorrow.

      • Just walk up to the counter. Don't bother with the sales droids as they are the ones who probably make the commission. I tried at two other JB's before this one and they weren't interested.

        • Which two did you try?

        • Went to Mt Omaney and JB refused to give the same price. Also tried Kmart, Target, Big W (twice), Dick Smith and EB Games and they all refused it too. :(

        • I live in Indro, so I did the big loop.

          JB/Kmart Indro.
          HN/JB Oxley.
          BigW/Kmart/Target/JB Mt Ommaney.

It's all about persistence and desperation :-)
I had the day off and nothing else to do so it was just my time and some fuel.

Just go back into JB tonight and hit up a different person. If they are busy and keen they might do it.
My receipt is above and unchanged, so they can do it, it's just if they will or not.

        • I didn't even really care about getting this game until I saw it for $59 but now I want it so bad! I went to Redbank Plaza this afternoon but Dick Smith, Big W and K Mart were all out of stock. Only EB games had stock but wouldn't budge off their $109 price. Got another day off tomorrow but think I might just try one last time for pricematch before caving and paying $88 at Big W. I want to spend my day off playing GTA V not driving around trying to save $30.

        • Thanks. Glad I checked this thread before heading out.

        • +1

If anybody is lurking around here, you can grab a copy of the game for $75 at Target.

Normally $85, but $75 with the $10 voucher.

        • I'm lurking, looks like the price has dropped considerably in the last 2 weeks, the major discounter (BigW, Target, DSE) have it for $69, EB should price match that.

  • Is Costo still the cheapest place to get Grand Theft Auto V?
    Thanks.

    • Went to Costco Docklands (Vic) last night and price had gone up to $65, still pretty cheap
