256GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive $149 Shipped from Kogan

190

15/10/2013 update: email from Kogan, it was the website error, but Kogan will honour the $99 deal.

Price back to $149 shipped now. so the $99 shipped is the price error. not sure what Kogan will do on all the $99 orders.

saw this deal from Kogan, it says $149 shipped to Australia, but when i summited order, only cost $99. they give additional $50 off. looks a very good deal.

on ebay, the cheapest one cost more than $200-$300.

looks like a pretty good deal.

    Probably a price error

  • What's faster this or an SSD?

    • Check the read write speeds of USB3 vs SATA6.

    • +3

      SSD is much faster.

      • +2

        About 5 times faster.

    • SSD will always be faster, for a number of reasons. This is cheaper and smaller.

      • I would suggest that around the corrected price of $149, you could get an entry level SSD and USB 3 caddy that would perform better, offer better flexibility to upgrade PC as well as providing a caddy for the upgraded drive.

        • But be much larger and more fiddly.

No one thinks it looks cheap and will break down after few weeks' use?

    • I've had two of the 32gb versions, they're actually quite nice.

    • 1 year warrenty :)

    • yes, looks cheap and might get mixed up with the 4GB promo freebies in the drawer.

  • Confirm $99 on payment page but… Do I really need one?!?

I am now waiting for my 2 x $20 Kogan coupon.

    !!!!!PRICE ERROR!!!!!

Jokes aside guys and gals this is a price error!

Normal price is $199, sale price is $149 ($50 off) they've applied the discount twice and it's down to $99.

I received this email this morning from Kogan with the special.

    !!!!!PRICE ERROR!!!!!

    • Yea it's a price error because even when you click the link it's $150(discounted $50) but when you get halfway through checking out, another $50 is taken off for no reason.

      • So the only reason that people are buying is because they are hoping for a $20 voucher like with the S4? Far more likely to get a $5 one if they do it again.

        • $5 is better than $0.

  • I sort of have the feeling that if I buy one, my $99 is the same as down the toilet…

    Price back to $149

    • Hopefully there was just a few dozen sales and Kogan decides to let it go as a screw up on their end, the longer this went on the less likely they were to honour it.

    • got it for $99 haha. Hope its honoured…

    • Yep, error fixed, even if you go to the final checkout page.

    • yes. back to $149 now :(

i bought one, hopefully they will hourner it this time :)

  • +1

    Kogan, you done it again!

    • when it's clearly pricing error, they fixed it instantly.

      • Cant stop wondering why takes them days to fix Samsung S4 pricing error?

        • I still think the needed quick cash flow to pay bills theory was right. They've just shown that they can fix pricing errors in under half an hour, being outside of normal business hours it should've taken 2 hours maximum… They let it run because they wanted cash for a couple of days interest free.

You don't get cash in when customers use credit card to pay you, credit card company only pays you after one month or sometime later after the transactions.

        • its a marketing strategy to drive traffic to their website. when they have a "good" deal (fake or not), people will come back to check again. yeah they lost money on a few coupons but they saved thousands on advertisement

        • and they had thousands and thousands of hits on their website and they sold thousands of phones that day. - statistics look good from certain angles

        • Jayzee, You are misinformed.

          Merchants are paid upon settlement.

        • jayzee - Uh nope. I work in finance and reconcile credit card payments - we get the cash into our bank account either on the same business day or next business day depending on the type of credit card. I expect a large business like Kogan would have a similar setup.

  • got his model for 32GB, really bad product.

    • How bad is it? I thought lots of ppl bought 32Gb USB drive use $20 voucher.
I am consider buying one, really appreciate your opinion

      because….

  • Lol you've got kogan'd!!!!

  • Kogan, I have missed "price error" this time, can you let me know if this happened again ?

    • +1

It will happen again on 22/10/2013, stay tuned.

  • OMG! My second thumbdrive one was 256mb, and now we are talking about 256GB!
Hope Kogan honours it! Good luck people :)

    • I remember paying around $180 for a 4gb USB stick, now I scoff at them. To think when my daughter is grown up she'll think we lived in the stupid ages reading a book encyclopaedia, using a thesaurus and dictionary. Learning grammar in school and not having it automatic…. Learning to navigate with a compass and map, to her it'll sound like I was born in the 1880's not the 1980's.

  • This is faster than any primary HDD I've ever had. my current HDD tops out at ~30Mbps.

  • so far it looks good for my $99 order. i just got an email from Kogan for "Additional Information Required".

    • shhhhh

  • I have the 64GB model and it's fast.

    50-60MB /s read write speeds.

  • Just wondering if anyone got their drive yet?

  • +3

i got an email from Kogan this morning, Kogan said it is a website error, but Kogan will take the responsibility for this mistake and Kogan will honour the deal. :)

We are writing about your recent purchase of a 256GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive from Kogan.
When you purchased the product it was on sale and there was a website error that caused the discount to be applied twice. During the sale, the 256GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive was discounted from $199.00 to $149.00 but due to the website error you were only charged $99.00 per unit.
We take full responsibility for this mistake, and as a gesture of goodwill, we will honour the deal.
Your order is currently being processed and you will receive an email to let you know once it is shipped (you don't need to do anything!).
We hope you enjoy your purchase from Kogan.com and look forward to serving you again soon.
As this is an automated email, please do not reply.

  • got the product. speed is ok. $99 was a good deal :)
