• The Last of Us is an upcoming survival horror action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation 3.
• The story is set two decades after a cordyceps-type fungus has killed millions, with nature gradually retaking the abandoned cities and towns.
• Joel, a hardened black-marketeer within one of the quarantine zones, goes through an event which makes him promise an old friend that he will get a young girl, Ellie, away from the harsh regime.
• They begin a journey through the USA, avoiding the Infected, humanoid creatures whose sole aim has become spreading the fungal infection, and scavengers that survive outside the quarantine zones who see Joel and Ellie as their latest prey.

Motion Capture Evolved to Performance Capture

Beyond: Two Souls is created by French game developers, Quantic Dream. $11 more at EB you can get gta 5 instead of FIFA 14

    • Yep.

DSE pic suggests a second contoller…doesn't seem to be included though?

    • -1

That EB is very enticing. I really only want to play Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls, but $399 is expensive for two games.

      • +15

that's why they've included a bonus game & a 500GB playstation in the deal, to save you paying $200 per game.

        • Oh, man - best laugh I've had all day. Thank you!

        • Very true, I could sell it all after I've finished because I wouldn't use it for anything else.

        • Judging from the avatar pic, he's a blonde ;)

        • So I must be stupid for not wanting a PlayStation 3? Jeez, harsh critics.

    • Another alternative is +$11 more at JB and get NBA 2K14 & HDMI

  • The picture has two controllers. Is it two or only one?

  • +2

Has anyone actually done a stock check? Tried 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 and no stores had stock at all. So a normal DSE post then :-P

    • +1

      Absolutely Dick Less.

If this was a small or web business they would have failed a long time ago. As part of a conglomerate I'm surprised their shareholders/board also didn't shut the shop down long ago.

That way we wouldn't have to witness what amounts to false advertising.

This is the quality of their online support now. This is an email I received when making an enquiry about an online order I had placed 2 weeks ago:

        Good Afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to email Dick Smith online.

In relation to your inquiry, please be informed that your order are still in process now, it will take 3-5 business day to your place for normal time.

        Sorry for the inconvenient.

They're definitely less reliable with stock these days. I believe it's to do with the fact that private equity bought Dick Smith from Woolworths for $20m last year - naturally the private equity fund be doing all they can to boost short- term profits, even if it means destroying Dick Smith's reputation among customers with tactics like deliberate understocking of attractive deals, or hiring people who can't really speak English to handle customer relations.

It seems to be working - the private equity fund is now in the process of floating Dick Smith on the stock exchange, selling it to the Australian public for around $500m. And we'll all end up buying Dick Smith shares at this inflated price through our superannuation funds. Gotta love our system.

The Save $267 almost made me choke.

  • The picture has now changed and only shows 1 controller. I hope no one was fooled and purchased this when it showed 2 controllers. That as no fault of the OP, it was Dick's fault.

    • +3

Dick putting things where it shouldn't be. who would have thought

  • +2

Ps5 will be out 2020, better off holding out till then

    • -1

Sarcasm, always gets down voted :(

      • particularly since obsolescence became acceptable.

  • If there wasnt a PS4 around the corner i would have jumped on this deal. But every day i see a PS3 deal I spend 5 min convincing myself why i dont need a second ps3 but should save up for a PS4

  • The PS3 is 7 years old people…. These "deals" are only appearing because once the PS4 is out in a little over a month the PS3 takes a massive dive in perceived value.

The PS3's best hits will end up on the PS4 as hyper HD remakes, because people love buying the same game twice.

    • +1

      This.

Plus, imagine the prices come December/Christmas. Wouldn't be surprised to see these packages drop at least another $100

    • The PS3's best hits will end up on the PS4 as hyper HD remakes

No, they'll more likely than not end up on Gaikai (Sony's game streaming service) instead. Except my internet will be too garbage to support it.

    • The PS4 at launch or even the first year, won't have games available that are anywhere near as good as The Last of Us and GTA V (unless ported). Fact. Another alternative is to buy a new PS3 before they become extinct to future proof your existing games collection.

  • this or 399 ps 4 :)

    • +1

Where is there a $399 PS4? It's $550 RRP and the American $400 doesn't account for sales tax, forwarders, etc.

  • +4

I picked up a PS3 in that EBGames deal (a little more than this, swaps FIFA for GTA5) and fair warning: this thing is LOUD. Much louder than my old Slim because the disc drive is sitting right underneath that top-loading tray with a loose plastic cover, not nestled deep within the console. You can, and will hear the drive spinning up and down while you play games and when it's reading new content from the disc.

Its footprint is much smaller and can fit in places the older versions can't but if noise is an issue for you, avoid this console. It's something you'll have to live with, there's nothing you can do short of noise dampening the inside tray with felt.

  • +1

What is the point of getting a playstation 3 for nearly $400 when the ps4 is just around the corner? It will become out dated almost immediately when the next generation consoles come out.

  • Don't see the ps4 having that much of a diffence, slight bette graphics, same thing like always, better of buy ps3 in the long run you save more and also when purchasing this unit.

  • -1

So you get 2 movies and 1 soccer game? No deal.

    • I wish 10% of movies were that good.

  • Why would you want a PS3 well for starters games that you have for the PS3 wont be able to be played on the PS4 and I buy games rarely so PS3 suits me fine Im hoping there will be a bundle with WWE14K (since my PS3 is dead)
