  • So what can you do after 1 month if you dont like it with all the data you've entered??

    • you save it to a spreadsheet ?

  • So $550 per month after the first month huh?

  • +5

How is paying $6,600 per year a bargain ???

It's a bit pointless using the software for one month if you're not going to continue to use it… Maybe if you want to test it?

But seriously, what a rip off for Small businesses !!!

    • got to agree with you JV , 6600 a year is a hell of a lot of money and even if it's worth it, a 8% discount aint much

  • +1

Sorry but I fail to see how that's a bargain!

$6,600 per year? I don't even pay my fully human (and highly qualified and switched on) accountant that much.

    Thumbs down from me. Sorry.

  • Check the xero website, its $29 per month after

    • then how do you save $550?

    • +1

so where did the $550 saved came from???!!

    • its $29 per month after

That limits you to send 5 invoices + receive 5 bills per month.

      • Even the most expensive plan is only $64 per month.

  • From the looks of it, they are including 2 hours of training which I would say accounts for $500 of this theoretical saving. Looks like they are valuing the training at $250 per hour!

I would say the rate then drops down to whatever plan you choose from Xero.

    • From the looks of it, they are including 2 hours of training

      via a video…

  • To add on lilyhollies comment, it looks like there are 3 levels of subscription, AU$29/mth to AU$69/mth

    Jeez.. calm down guys.

    http://www.xero.com/au/pricing/

    Per Month:

    $29 for small business (1 payroll employee, 20 bank statement lines/month, 5 invoices/month)
$49 for medium business (20 payroll employees, 100's of transactions)
$64 for large business (100's of payroll employees, 100s of transactions,

The $550 value would be whats attributed to the training element of the offer.

Having used Xero for a few months now - I'd use Xero well before I touched MYOB again if I were considering which to use. Excellent product.

  • I have the $49/mth Xero account for my small business and it is on the expensive side, but well worth it.

Be aware this offer has little to do with Xero. It should probably be clarified in the original entry but this offer is for month to month accounting services.

Accountants can partner with Xero to offer subscriptions as part of their accounting services. If you are paying more than $500/mth for accounting then check this out, but otherwise browse around. You can usually get people to look after your books for ~$200/mth.

Edit: XO Accounting themselves offer a $250/mth package: http://www.xoaccounting.com.au/pricing/. No idea where $550 is from.

    • I have the $49/mth Xero account for my small business and it is on the expensive side

Does that include payment collections, or do they charge extra ?

      • As far as I know it is free to add online invoice payment options like PayPal (eugh) and eWAY, but obviously they have their own subscription and transaction fees.

      • +2

You can plug Pin.net.au (which is now free) into Xero

        • 3% + 30c per transaction

          that seems reasonable…

          thanks…

  • I was with Xero but switched to SAASU. Found it much better value for my business accounting requirements. In saying that… save $550 is really such a lame misleading bait!!!! Switching to the $29/month does not give you much room at all… Why not use templates if one was restricting themselves to the $29/month plan.

  • I prefer BankLink over Xero, due to not being a fan of screen-scraping the bank data.

After recently (about 12 months ago) setting up MYOB and paying the accountants fees (that most people will need to do) in order to set up a new company fom scratch, this deal actually isn't too bad. Like others have stated; this is not actually for the Xero software itself (which is just an online program with a varying monthly subscription fee depending on the level of bookkeeping required), it's actually for an accountant to help set you up and do some training on Xero!

After dealing with a couple of accounting firms and few bookkeeping friends, I would already love to change from MYOB to Xero. But I've now invested a bit of money and a lot of my personal time in setting up MYOB!
This deal is actually pretty good for someone starting out!!!

  • Xero wants to go head to head with QuickBooks online (or Reckon Accounts nowadays). You pay about $450 per year for QB Online. I think it is a superior program. Xero seemed quite cumbersome after my quick play with it. I have a couple of clients using it now. I still prefer QB Online.

  • Xero hits all-time high on Australian stock exchange today. FWIW!!

    • Just about doubled over the last 6 months!!!

    • Due to news they raised $150M from investors in the US trying to take some of Quickbooks market share. Apparently.

    • They are now valued at 2+ $billion and still yet making a profit. Either the stock market is crazy, or XERO really has potential.

  • Any Xero Partner can get you 15%+ off for life of the account if they choose to pass on the discount (http://www.xero.com/au/partners/partner-program-table/).

  • +1 for Saasu. Australian company.

  • Xero offer a month free trial to everyone.

    • So does most other cloud accounting package.

  • Myob would work out cheaper

    • MYOB online is $29 per month unlimited invoices compare to xero only 5.

      • receiving payments appear to be more expensive though via MYOB…

  • for small business on a budget, there is GnuCash that you can use for free. GST, BAS, custom invoice format and etc.

  • For cloud-based accounting packages, it's more than just how much the subscription costs over a period of time. You also need to consider whether your accountant is willing to work on it, and how much time (and money) would this save you and your accountant.

Personally I use XERO and am on the $49/month package. Yes it's pricy, but it's easy enough for me to use. I can do pretty much everything and would only need the accountant to look at my files once or twice a year + time to prepare my return, which I guess would save me money at the end.

    • what extra does it give you compared to AccountRight Live $29 / month ???

not much info on the XERO website.

Do XERO submit your BAS statements to the ATO ?

      • No, it didn't even submit BAS for me. It only provides me most fields, ie doing all the GST calculation for me. Not even PAYG, although they already have my payroll. It does submit payment summary at the end of FY. The payroll is a bit simple though.

I cannot compare it with MYOB. I guess when I started using XERO (early 2010), Account Right wasn't even there. It's also more of accountant's decision.
