    Maybe he doesn't want to spend how much the new ones will cost..

    Apple believes a last gen product is worth only 10% less than a current gen product, so he sees this as good value in spite of a new model coming.

    There's also rumors a Retina mini won't be releasing till early next year due to difficulties in manufacturing.
