This appears to be the same one I got on amazon back in March for more than this (USD $111.57 delivered). This is a good price.

    • Made in China?

      • +2

        Yes.

  • this one or sidchrome from bunnings?

    • +2

sidchrome made in taiwan, but sidchrome warranty is questionable. sent in a rounded off 10mm socket, and ive been waiting for 5 months. still no news on whether they are going to warranty it.

for prices that sidchrome charge, you might as well go snap on, stahlwille, or even bahco for not much more.

      • They were better when made in Australia.

Since you're MacGuyver, surely you made your own socket set out of paper clips and rubber bands?!

        • I lol'd so hard :D

What about the driver? Use a drinking straw?

      • other option is Crescent 206 tools from Costco, If not mistaken should be around $145

        • +1

What would you compare the Crescents to?

  • what is the quality like?

    • +2

I have had cheap sockets and compared to them these feels like a Rolls Royce lol. They are good mid range tools I would say. I have got a set and i use once every couple of weeks. I'm yet to find something they won't handle.

Definitely night and day difference between generic sockets and these. Not sure about high end ones though because I've never used them

    • +2

I am pretty sure these Stanley sets come with a lifetime warranty as well, so if it breaks (providing your not doing something stupid with it) Stanley will replace it for you.

I feel like driving there now just to get this simply because it's a great deal. Although I've already got an 85 piece set. Not to mention my neighbour has trolleys full of whatever I'd like to borrow. That and the fact my car is still in warranty and in perfect nick anyway. Hrmmm…..

Ah screw it I'm gonna go buy it.

    Another cool story by esq.

      thank you esq

    • thank you esq. beautiful story :') haha glad to have inspired someone to spend on unneeded items! you can never have too many tools!!

  • Am really confused. Can any tell me an awesome home mechanic kit to get please? I am starting from scratch again, A cheap set with every thing needed to do mechanics and fix stuff in home shed, but good quality if possible. Any suggestions?
this one looks good but mainly has sockets and not much else

Starting from scratch oh noooes! Divorce or burglary? I guess it's much the same…

  • Spent a long time travelling and just recently settled down and got married, need to save $ and doing servicing on the car and boat myself will help heaps.

    • Thanks for sharing your life story.

  • got one on rain check in SA all sold out cept port Lincoln and port augusta

  • Got one thanks

    Got one thanks OP :)

Got 2 thanks Op! For those looking at south side Brisbane, I believe the Loganlea store has 2 left, Macgregor 1 left. Most other stores nearby are sold out.

Checked all my local stores (via online stock check), nobody has stock so I ordered online expecting the delivery costs to kill the deal but it turns out delivery is free (to my suburb, others may be different)…great deal with free courier delivery, can't complain about that, thanks OP.

    • Free delivery on purchases > $50 :) at least until 18/10/2013 lol

  • I counted 86 socket pieces. The screwdriver bits pad out the 201 number a lot, but $1 a socket is a good price point.

  • +2

Also available on ebay until they change it. Same price free shipp

  • Isn't this set mainly imperial? hardly any metric sockets

    • Got mine today, without doing an actual count it seems like 50/50 imperial and metric. The picture on the website is pretty deception, this kit is bigger than it looks in the picture, quality is about mid-range as previously stated, about what you would expect for $200, so this was a great bargain.
