    • Is this at Bunnings for $199? And does it definitely list 3 batteries on the box?

    • Is that this one for $199, wheres that deal at?

      http://www.bunnings.com.au/makita-18v-li-ion-cordless-2-piec…

      • Yes, that is the $199 special. But you may need to ask as it is not in the computer.

      • Curious what model numbers the actual individual tools are!

        • DF457DZ+TD127DZ

        • I never said thanks, so thanks. But I bought one on the way home Friday!
Only info I could find on them was this! Same thing!

    • Hi there, When did you get that combo for that price? recently and whereabouts, any chance it is nationwide or just a store markdown?

      • I bought one on the way home (Springvale Vic) and they were clearly marked at $199. Comes with 2 x 1.3Ah batteries and a bonus 1.1Ah. I'll have a play with them in the morning to see what they're like!

  • +1

good deal, got a hammer drill version.
i have too many cordless drivers now

  • Awesome . I hope theres stock left when I go later this afternoon.hopefully they will still have the hammer drill in stock.

  • South Morang, VIC had 3 left when I just brought one.

I also found the older spec 1.3Ah battery versions behind the 'newer' 1.1Ah versions. There might be one left behind. It scanned at $199, but there was some other guy there asking about them and I showed them the paper ad.

  • A shame it has no charge-level indicator or LED light.
Even the cheapie ozito has that plus a built-in spirit level.

Is this how Makita differentiate their budget models?

  • I just got the hammer drill from Bunnings Nerang. Thanks OP.Not many left.

  • Picked up a drill from Bunnings Scoresby.

I read the paper today too, missed this!!

Thanks OzBargain and thanks Bunnings for only being 1km from work

  • +1

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but it's also advertised in the West Australian today so it's a WA special too.

  • I just went in to Tuggeranong Bunnings ACT and bought one… 3 left on shelf.

Picked up a Drill Driver version… I'll never need the hammer function in a cordless. I've got a corded drill with hammer function if I ever need to do serious masonry work. It's not like this drill 'wont' do masonry drilling…. it's the bit that does the work.

    Thanks again OP!
You know its a bargain when Ozito have a Lithium Ion 18v drill driver with two batteries sitting next to the Makita on the shelf for $229 :).

Also, the guy I was speaking to in store said they are clearing out these Makita's to make room for Makita's version of Ryobi One…. where 1 battery powers all sorts of gadgets. Good for those that dont have any tools already, but no way I'm getting rid of everything else I already own just to have everything battery powered.

  • Gee … payed full price at the start of the year :(

  • have to wait unitl 4:30 can go to Bunnings, Dnm. hope they still have some there

  • just got mine at 1pm at Parramatta NSW, they had about 10 left

  • I was told the Batteries will not fit the LX models, different design. The charger will not work with the LX batteries either. Can someone confirm is this is correct or not. I have other LX tools.

    • Not compatible with the LXT range… and it appears that the build quality is a step back from the LXT drills that I own. I may return mine.

      • what's the difference???

        • chuck is suspect and it felt under-powered .. I can't comment on anything else because I repacked it after realising it wasn't compatible with my LXT skins.

    • Makita only appear to have the 2 different battery types listed at the moment BL1830 (3.0Ah) and BL1815 (1.3Ah). This is listed for both the LXT and their other models, so I'm now not sure where the supposed difference is??? Only thing would be, is when did they last change the battery shape in the LXT?

      • The batteries in these kits are BL1811G, which I've never seen before,

        • Well that definitely sucks!!! Maybe old model and/or wholesaler (Bunnings) specific design?

        • The batteries in these kits are BL1811G, which I've never seen before,

Yep, can confirm BL1813G (1.3Ah) & BL1811G (1.1Ah) comes with all of these cheaper lines!

  • Pretty sure I just got the last one at the Traralgon store.

  • Bunnings Coburg still has some 4 off @ 2:30pm Tel. 03 8371 8400

  • If it hasn't been mentioned there is also a kit with drill driver plus impact driver plus 2x 1.3ah batteries plus bonus 1.1ah battery for 199.

These aren't compatible with lxt and appear to be cheaper made but if you don't already own lxt then not too bad.

    • Yeah, Rayman161 posted above…

I think the Dk18041 is better purchase option include normal drill and impact, 3 batteries and charger for 199 down from 299

I'll be having a closer look at this one!

  • I got one @ O'conner store in WA. BTW there was 4 on the shelf @ O'Conner store, by the time I came to grab one after browsing all gone! :(

    I got the last one.

it seems it always has been $99 in WA?

Thank you all for good bargain!

  • +1

None left at Kent Town, SA store.

  • for any1 who tossing up b/t drill driver/ hammer driver,

    here is the comparison:

    http://www.bunnings.com.au/compare?products=6240176,6240177,

i'm not a pro to tools, can any1 tell me if why would you go hammer driver over the drill one?

    • Why wouldn't you. With the hammer version you get the hammer function. That appears to be the only difference.

  • +1

Here's a great link if you want to check out the specs sheet on it, or compare it to the HP457DWE hammer drill that others have mentioned on here!

    • interesting!the weight is the same, so basically the only difference is the hammer.

      • Looks like it. But I went the drill & driver combo for $199 as I've already got a powerful corded hammer drill and I needed something more powerful as an impact driver.

  • Bunnings Gosford are holding a Hammer version for me to pick up tomorrow morning.

Got to thank their service. Called up before 9 this morning when I saw the deal to have it held, called up just then to change to Hammer verison. Same guy as this morning says 'I am already holding you the Hammer version since you mentioned you want to drill into brick.'

    Awesome.

  • Altona & Sunshine VIC are both sold out :(

  • 3 more left an cannon hill Qld, salesperson did confirm the battery was not interchangeable with the other models..

    • Any hammer ones there?

      • sorry mate, noob here, I didnt even know there was a hammer version, just saw this one and took it right away..never owned one of these before but since we just bought a house, i figured i "might" need one of these… :P

    • Cannon Hill sold out this morning.

  • Just purchased one from Brisbane Oxley, 3 more left.

  • Bought one of the last couple on the shelf at Ferntree Gully. Both it and the hammer drill (which seemed to be sold out) were marked at $99.

  • Bought one at Tuggeranong Bunnings ACT. None on the floor but the young fella "Dean" found someone high up on the shelf. They had 8 left and they were bringing them down to the front when I left at 4:30pm. None with the hammer option though. All just drill drivers.

  • Sold out notting hill bunnings

  • +3

    Sold out: (VIC)
    -Altona
    -Sunshine
    -Maribyrnong
    -Port Melbourne
    -Hoppers Crossing
    -Werribee

On their system, Frankston has some left in VIC but I'd call first =/

    • Taylors Lakes had a couple left, but they wouldn't sell the "Hammer" version for $99, only the one advertised in the paper. I did try to buy the hammer one, they had probably 4 or 5 on the shelf but refused.

I bought the drill version a bit after 5pm :)

  • Theres 2 battery types 1.1 and 1.3, for both 18v cordless and hammer…i got the hammer 1.3 for the same price…

  • About 3x left at Oakleigh South as of 4:30pm, they were hidden towards the end of an aisle on the opposite side to all the other Makita stuff.

    • None at Sandown(Vic) got the last one(not reserved) from Oakleigh South 7:30pm

  • Got the last hammer drill unit in Bunnings Vermont South(VIC), still about 8 DF units left around 17:40.

  • not around in OZ, asked my wife to get me one. Got the 1.3 at kotara NSW. Apparently it wasnt even on display. It was hidden on top shelves and the guy had to climb up the stiars to get it

  • picked up the last hammer drill at chatswood around 6:30pm, still has got 1 drill driver left.

  • Bunnings Tuggeranong ACT have around a dozen HP457D hammer/drivers for $99 - or did 20 mins ago.

  • +1

Thanks to this post. Popped into Bunnings Balgowlah and got one for $99 and it had the hammer function! 18V with charger and 2 batteries. That was the only one they had, though. Heaps more on sale at $99 without the hammer function.

  • Bunnings Rouse Hill has heaps of the hammer function, was there tonight got one. Looks like they have at least 15 - 20 more and a few of the model without hammer.

  • awesome deal… picked up one at the moonah store.. six left of the standard 4 of hammer… I got a Hammer version. .. plus picked up a gorilla 15. for $198 cheapest price for a ok bendy multi ladder. down from $220.

  • Got 2 one for myself and dad for helping me out there other week.

Mine says 1.3 aH so still happy.

  • just noticed, mine says 1.3A as well

  • Hammer drill is sold out at Bunnings Parafield, SA
As of 7:45am 4 cordless drill drivers left on shelf

  • I couldn't justify buying one. I wanted to be able to use the batteries and charger and accumulate a cheaper range of tools. There is nothing else that fits these. Better options out there for a little more money!

    • I'm almost certain the hammer drill uses the same battery. Bunnings say they aren't interchangable but they're regularly wrong.

There was someone on here that bought both. I'm sure they'd be happy to confirm this.

  • I can confirm the impact driver TD127D fits the same battery as the drill.
    ;)

Edit: Battery pack BL1813G and BL1811G if anyone needs to know specifics.

  • Excellent deal, however Bunnings still have $199 price mark up but when i show the pic from OZ bargain and they check the price. It was correct $99, I bought 3 of them. Really good bargain. Heaps of thanks for uploading this deal. :) :) :)

  • Hi I checked it at QLD Compton Rd store last night, there are no more hammer version and only non-hammer version 3 left. Note: the battery are not interchangable to LXT makita tool series. But still a good deal if you just looking for a good quality drill. The price tag on shelf is $99. And there are another combo deal besides: drill + impact driver , 3 batteries, 1 charger (again non LXT battery compatiable) for $199. 3 available.

  • You cant interchange the batts/charger with the other Makita line, so its a pass unless you only want a drill (and they do an impact driver in the 1.1ah too at bunnings)

If you get a propper batts (they are doing 4mah now batts) you can use the same across the whole range, these are made especialy for bunnings and they are made cheap…

  • +1

If you want cheap power power tools, checkout the MASTERS 601 range… they have a box full for between $100-300

  • +1

Ok oakleigh South has heaps of hammer and driver types as of 10am. The awesome store lady found them stored away and had to get a fork lift to grab them.

Bought the hammer version… hope it's the better choice between the two .

    Good luck guys …

    • I'm there. They told me I've got last one

  • None at my local country bunnings…nuts!
    …but I ordered one.

  • Several of the Hammer Drills and more of the Drill Drivers available at Launceston about an hour ago. The Drill Drivers were marked at $99, the Hammer Drivers at $199 but scanned at the lower price.

  • Used this around the new house today, went well no clue on the speed settings I just put it in the drill mode Shrugs.

Only thing I bought the 26PC drill set of Makita, first drill into wood and the drillbit snapped in it, like what the hell. Took it back and got new set no questions asked. They are down on special too. $29 & $25 for sets.

    • +1

You want the faster gear for drilling, unless it jams with a big bit. Lower/slower gear increases torque.
Driver mode enables the torque limiter ring.
      HTH.

    • +1

High speed is good for drilling and the slower speed usually better for screwing.
Also , you'll have to take a bit of care if using any bit under 3-4mm. They're only thin!

  • +1

everywhere i went it was all sold out.

but i came across this instead

any good? ryobi 18v 6piece combo kit, from 499 to 399

    http://i43.tinypic.com/50fw1s.jpg

  • North Penrith Bunnings has 5 left of the drill driver and 7 left of the hammer drill. They are also selling a combo pack of the drill driver and hammer drill for $199 originally $299. Not sure how many batteries you get with this combo.

    • You get 3 all up. 2 x 1.3Ah and a bonus 1.1Ah battery!

  • Any deals like this one with a Makita 18V impact driver?

    • +1

They do a corded impact driver that's rated to 100Nm for $99. Or there's the 2 piece 18v combo kit that's been mentioned (drill & impact driver) for $199. And this impact driver is rated to 140Nm.

      • Thanks man, that combo kit looks like great value.

        • Yeah, it was time to update so I grabbed one. I don't do enough work or heavy load to warrant stepping up to the $400-$500 ones!

  • Just picked one up from Bunnings Armadale. Didn't see any of the hammer version. 2 left that I could see.

  • Chatswood store had half a dozen out 15 minutes ago but they're sitting on big boxes that may have contained many more. One guys said they'd sold 200 today, another guy (who didn't hear that conversation) said he had been selling 20 per hour.
    Can anyone say hot cakes?

    • Yeah, the boxes they (normal drill version only) were on each have two sets, so there were at least a dozen, maybe two dozen, left when I picked one up at 4:30pm.

There were no hammer versions left, according to the salesguy (though he didn't know the latter were also $99, and said that he found the empty space on the shelves where they had been…)

Gordon and Belrose had none left.

  • +1

drill driver vs hammer drill version. which one is better?

    • -2

Answered many times already, read the posts.

    • +1

Hammer if you can still find them…used mine today. Love it.

  • Campbelltown bunnings appears to be sold out of both normal and hammer version, however they had the drill+impact driver+3 batteries bundle for 199 which I got, looks good!

  • Rouse Hill all sold out, I got the last one at McGraths Hill, luckily one of the 1.4Ah battery packs.

  • Greenacre NSW all sold out

  • Launceston sold out of both models.

  • Kirrawee and Caringbah also gone

  • A very good chance to stop buying the cheapie/crappie drills and buy A real one this time.

makita make junk too. and their warranties are not very competitive (usually 12 months)

    • makita make junk too. and their warranties are not very competitive (usually 12 months)

True, they do make cheaper lines… But they're still a $#!tload better than Ryobi, Ozito, etc. or those Target, Kmart, BigW type brands! And the warranty is now 3 years on all Lithium-Ion powered tools purchased after 1st Nov 2012!
