  I'm sure this is great value for the price, but i could never buy a MDF base pool table, just wouldn't be right. Also doesn't look too sturdy either (all of the cheaper ones are like that though).

  Good quality pool tables have a proper slate base, which is why they a so damn heavy, really good ones have one massive piece of slate too.

  this pool table is cheap because it's, well, …. cheap. We've got one in the office. the base is not true, even though we've done our best with the spririt level, the balls still don't roll in a straight line. The ball returns barely work, sometimes we have to throw a ball down a pocket to clear the return. If you're going to buy one of these do it for a cheap fun table, don't expect it to be fantastic.
