Amazon price was updated to $113.99USD about $129AUD delivered xe.com conversion, still a good price for those who missed out on the last price.

There is a 1-3 week wait until shipping according to amazon

Below was the price before it went up.

Hey guys i just spotted the Toshiba 2TB 2.5" Canvio Basics at amazon has dropped to its lowest price thus far i had it in my cart for $119.xx but i hesitated and i was rewarded with a near $20 drop.

As of today's current rate with xe.com the total for 1 with delivery is approx 108.78USD/113.11AUD(using the 28degrees card rate) delivered

Using amazons conversion rate it is AUD 117.90 delivered

So this works out to be about 0.495cents per GB which is i think is the lowest yet for 2.5" drives.

Consider the Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB instead if you want something with a standard SATA port (the drive inside is a Toshiba MQ01ABB200)

(Just remember that the drive height for these 2.5" 2TB drives is 15mm, making it too high for many laptops and other confined spaces.)

    Cheers bought.

That Seagate is not a portable drive; the Toshiba Canvio Basics doesn't require an external power supply and can be powered by only the USB port. It's also significantly smaller (2.5" vs 3.5" drives). Portable external drives are more expensive than desktop external drives.

This is a good deal for a 2TB portable, and you'll be hard pressed to find a better price in Australia anytime soon.

yeah my mistake, didn't realise the umart one isn't bus powered.

  • Great price! Too bad I bought this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/115121 earlier… :(

  • Man… I gotta stop buying hard drives. But very tempting…. Ozbargain your gonna send me broke.

    • +2

Trust me you arnt alone on that one :) can never have enough hard drives i say!

      • LOL, I bought one of these locally for $140 a few weeks ago, but this price was too good to resist buying another one!

I figure I'll be running out of storage again in another 6-12 months and a similar 2TB portable drive still won't be this cheap by then. :)

  • this is goooooood deal omg..2tb and its portable!

  • Good thing I was too lazy to grab that officework deal. Good thing happen if you wait. Apparent I must've got the last one! Thank OP anyway!

  • Price is back to $119.58 i think amazon has just run out hopefully it will come back soon.

    • +2

It's still $99.99, but the shipping time is now 1-3 weeks. You just have to select Amazon.com from the seller list on the right.

      • thanks i thought it was expired so i marked it expired but now i see and its back on unmarked again.

  • Getting a "We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order. "

    • +2

See my comment above; you have to select Amazon.com as the seller, not a third party seller.

      • My bad, I tend not to read instructions

  • Tempting. But I still prefer the WD Passport.

    • +2

Why? The 2TB WD Passport has the USB port integrated into the drive, whereas this Toshiba is just a standard SATA drive with a removable USB adapter. This is more flexible if you ever wanted to put the bare drive into a laptop/computer/media centre/gaming console.

Maybe he has had bad experiences with Toshiba hard drives in the past? I've had a few Seagate's fail on me in the past and ever since I lost my 60gb back in 2002 (no backups) I swore vengeance on Seagate.

It hit 15 year old me pretty hard when it happened. I actually still have the drive and every now and then I try and search eBay for the logic board as I believe thats what fried. ST360021A 3.10 revision firmware - one day I will get my data back.

I still buy their hard drives but prefer WD or Hitachi.

        • Same, msy seagate constantly fail on me

  • Judging the by the reviews the external usb adaptor thing has a habit of failing, which is funny for me since my 2.5" drives have all been pretty reliable but I have had several 3.5" WD and seagate external drives that needed new cases to retrieve the data after failure.

  • +1

its $112.99 plus shipping for me

  • damn just bought the 1.5tb from megabuy a few weeks ago….2tb so tempting though

  • Great find.

  • Does this have all those annoying setup files and you need net framework for it to work?

  • does anyone know ..if it comes with usb3.0 cable … thanks

    • yes plus almost $9 for delivery

  • a long waited deal and not to be missed! thanks OP!

  • awesome price thanks alot!

  • Anyone got read/write numbers for this drive?

  • +1

    Phew thought it was a cancelled email;

    "Hello,

We have good news!  We're able to get this part of your order to you faster than we originally promised:

"Toshiba 2TB Canvio Basics USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive (HDTB220XK3CA)"
        Previous estimated arrival date: November 20, 2013 - December 10, 2013
New estimated arrival date: November 11, 2013"

    • Yup, got that email too. Wooohooo.

  • Received today in Sydney (Amazon's cheapest shipping option). Opened it up and I can confirm the drive is a Toshiba MQ01ABB200 with a standard SATA port.

Pretty cool that the manufacture date of my drive is 2 October 2013 — which means it was manufactured in the Philippines, put in an enclosure, packaged, shipped to Amazon US, and then shipped to Australia in less than a month!
