710

Dicksmith weekend deal.
The G700s for $79.98 delivered is also a good deal.
Enjoy!

Tip from Lavec:

As I said it can be done with online form, you need to add a second item, set the click and collect store for it, then it will move the keyboard to Home delivery and still not be available, then remove the second item, then click the Select Store link for click and collect and it will allow you to set a store and you can proceed to checkout.

      • Hmm to buy now or wait for bargaincrypt to get us a deal from logitechshop during Christmas…

      • It's marginally cheaper than stock standard prices of computer shops. I.e. it is $88 all day at umart. Keyboard is a decent deal, sells for $139 at umart.

        • 8 dollars saved haha, bought it anyway since the good old mx revolution is on its last legs.

edit: Got trolled by dicksmith saying it had home delivery since it's greyed out in the checkout screen.

        • It's going to be a sad day when the last of the MX revolutions die.

        • I know right, I've gone through 2 now but I think it's time i moved on :( how awesome would it be if they refreshed it with a better battery and data cable.

  • +1

Very good keyboard. I bought 2 the last round with HN for 117.60. I am tempted to by more for the work place. In fact Dicksmith is cheaper because it includes free delivery.

    • +2

      Beware of the clickity clicks.

  • Static Ice shows G710+ as $155.
How does this keyboard compare to the Razor and SteelSeries?

    What colour Switch are they?

    • +1

Cherry MX Browns with O-Rings. Not sure of the hardness of the O-rings though.

      • Thanks. Not sure how the brown switch feels, might have to visit the store to find out.

      • +1

The dampened Brown's feel closer to a regular rubber dome keyboard, very natural. I had a gigabyte osmium with blues which are much louder and it was very hard to double tap a key for strafing and jumping in games, never got used to it!

        • +5

A rubber dome isn't 'natural,' it feels mushy and horrible.

  • Anyone got a good low-profile key keyboard to suggest? i.e. razer lycosa/arctosa sidewinder x4

    • +1

You could always get any Cherry MX keyboard and replace the keycaps with low-profile keycaps.

    • +1

      Razer deathstalker (not ultimate)

      • Thanks mate! Looks good!

  • Good deal, I like mine. It's pretty quiet and very nice to type on. I think at first the keys seemed to require more force when gaming and stuff, and my fingers got tired, though I don't notice it anymore. It's true, all other keyboards that used to be fine suddenly feel worse after getting it.

  • +3

You can never beat the IBM Model M keyboard.
    Greatest of all time.

  • +5

Bought one during the Harvey Norman Saturday Special for $117 as well.

It uses Cherry MX Brown switches. (They're basically a happy compromise between Cherry Red and Cherry Blue; Browns have less of a mechanical click noise, though it'll still be very noticeable if you've never owned a mechanical keyboard before and their key actuation pressure is less than the Blue and same as the Reds, though browns have a "tactile bump", which makes them feel stiffer and less prone to accidental key presses.)

Basically the G710+ like a mechanical G15 (exact same width and length) which I upgraded from, but with the modern Logitech G-series layouts (like on the G510/G110/G19) and volume scroller. Key positions are slightly different, and keycaps themselves maybe a tad smaller but feel much nicer to type on and are far more durable.

Really nice to look at too, looks so much better in person and really solidly-built (has a tangible heft to it that makes it stay in place, even if you're furiously banging on the keys). The white back-lighting is so bright at full brightness that if I take the keycaps off and look at the LED's directly they hurt my eyes, lol (the G15 had pretty poor back-lighting I always thought).

    • +1

I wouldn't say they're a compromise. They tried to do something in the middle and ended up with a horrible switch that's optimized for neither gaming or typing.

A 'compromise' between blues and reds would be reds with o-rings to reduce travel.

      • +4

For the majority of end users who have typed a lifetime on rubber domes and suddenly migrate to mechanical keyboards; Reds are the worst possible switches. They're just too damn soft for fingers that have been trained on the vague mushiness of rubber domes that have inconsistent actuation pressure and most people will find themselves mistyping a novel over the course of a few weeks of usage.

Even most gamers spend about an equal amount of hours on gaming versus non-gaming applications and for anything else, Reds are just too twitchy.

Browns feel the closest to rubber domes while being technically far superior and are a good gateway into the world of mechanical keyboards.

Also at this price-point, and with this feature-set (adjustable back-lighting, media keys, macro keys, a very easy-to-use driver suite that can run game-specific profiles for most popular games out of the box, neutral styling that doesn't look circa 1980 Model M or DudeBro G4m3r themed etc.), it is as good an entry-level mechanical keyboard as any.

        • I'm really not sure what you're referring to, but you've moved away from suggesting that Browns are a compromise between Reds and Blues and are now suggesting that it's for ease of migration from rubber domes.

If the idea was for ease of migration, then blacks would be the most suitable. Browns are most commonly suggested for people who don't want the loudness of Blues, or for people who don't want the lightness of reds, but I stand by reds with o-rings being a great inbetween. The reduction of travel and the padded key depression allows for easy gaming or fast typing.

    • +1

Browns are just cherry blues minus the clicking noise. Actuation point and force are similar.

Go drip lubricant or oil on cherry blues - watch them turn into cherry browns.

  • Delivery comes up as $10 for me..

    • Ignore that. When you check out it will be free.

  • This is very tempting….
Currently has a DAS blue, not sure if its worth replacing with this. Would be nice to have some media keys…

    • This is a very solid keyboard, heavy, and very well made. I don't think you can regret the purchase. I have 2 and despite that I am tempted to get a third but what I am going to do with that many keyboards :)?

    • +1

      Corsair K70

      • It's a shame the corsair's only come with red switches…

  • Bought one! I had no intentions of buying a keyboard today so um, thanks I guess!

  • Thanks, bought a G710 to replace my G110.

  • Got the G710+ for the same price during the Harvey sale.

Pretty good keyboard, I'm quite happy with it. It's very heavy, so either it's built solid or they loaded it up with lead weights.

  • Where's logitechshop?

  • For some reason it feels cheap to me. They are quiet and the backlight is fantastic with an extra usb port on the back. Be prepared for the backlight to fail on banks on keys though. I had 2 work for around 40 mins before dying (so I couldnt even ensure it worked instore)
My third is still going, but I'm still paranoid……..

  • Was just about to buy one and go pick it up locally however it looks like it has just changes to an "Online Exclusive Offer". Interesting…

    • that's strange, i just picked one up in store.

  • I wish they had the Logitech G602 yet.

    • +3

Well it works without the drivers. I haven't installed them.

Macro keys don't work obviously. But I didn't buy this keyboard for that.

      • +2

same here works fine without drivers

  • +3

I cant proceed to checkout.. delivery not available, pick up not available lol

  • +1

Looks like the mouse is OOS and i cant add the keyboard for delivery… and wont let me finish the transaction for click 'n collect so i guess OOS as well.

Would be great if it was available instore.

  • +1

I had a lot of trouble with the online form but managed to get one with perseverance. I added a second product and managed to select a Click and Collect store, then it moved the keyboard to Home Delivery, then I removed the second item. You still can't proceed because it says Home Delivery is unavailable, but now I could select a Click and Collect store and it showed the ones near me with stock and let me proceed.

I rang the store before hand and they have stock so hopefully I'll get my email confirming it's ready to be picked up very soon.

  • +3

Went into Brighton (Vic) DSE to try and get one and was told they can't do it for that price, tried to talk the guy into it but he wouldn't budge.

They had a fair few in stock too. What a shambles.

  • +3

yup tried a few stores around my area , plenty of stock but wouldn't sell, another Dicksmith stuff up

  • +7

Email received from DSE: Your Click & Collect reservation is now ready for collection :D

As I said it can be done with online form, you need to add a second item, set the click and collect store for it, then it will move the keyboard to Home delivery and still not be available, then remove the second item, then click the Select Store link for click and collect and it will allow you to set a store and you can proceed to checkout.

    Good luck.

    • Thanks for that. I've given it a go and will hopefully get a confirmation sms/email soon.

      EDIT: Confirmation SMS received :D

Pretty funny that ozbargainers are resorting to glitching the online system just so we can go into the shop and get it at the advertised price. Probably ends up saving them money on deliveries also.

  • well That worked Lavec , just waiting for the email from the store now..

  • they have updated to OOS stock now… but i had one in my cart and it worked thanks

    • wish i had added a mouse in there as well… but i guess ill grab one somewhere else.

    • I just refreshed the page and it's still showing the G710+ in stock for me.

    • If you use the link above it allows you to add it to cart. If you use the search form it shows as OOS.

  • ok picked mine up…. the guys behind the desk were a little confused but put it through !

  • I've gotten emails saying it has shipped. Pretty good turn around :)

  • +3

well typing on it as I speak , going to take a little while to get used to the G-keys on the side.
    but so far so good..

  • Shows out of stock with the link above also

    • Not for me. Do you mean after you click the link above you can't add it to the cart? Once it's in the cart you need to follow my instructions above to be able to purchase it.

      • OK got an order through by adding another item setting in store pick up and then removing the other order

  • Picked up the g700s thanks, tried the mechanical kb but couldn't see me having a use for it as my k400s is going strong.

  • +3

Did click and collect, picked it up the next morning. DS guys seemed so confused. "Hey ive got some good news for you, you wont be paying 199 for it, youll be paying 119 because thats what its coming up when i scan it".

"yep well thats what i bought it for"
    "no mate its only 119"
    "yeah i know"
    "pretty good price"
"yeah i know, can i pay for it soon?"

    • … And that ladies and gentleman, is why DSE is now foreign-owned. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing.

  • Availability: Temporarily out of stock. Rang up a couple of stores, since this is an online exclusive offer they wouldnt honor it :(

    • +1

get them to check it with a scan, because for some reason once they scan it, the price comes up as 119.98, thats what happened when i went in store to pick it up, but maybe thats only with an online reservation already.

    • +3

      Have you tried Lavec's method?

EDIT: Yep, it appears now that it can't be ordered online even with Lavec's method. Besides trying to get them to scan it and hope that it comes up as $119, I think this one's over and should be marked as expired seeing as both the G710+ and G700s are now out of stock online.

  • I might go to my local store to give it a shot later on lol cheers!!

  • My 2 cents… I've not got this one but I would recommend going mechanical to anyone. I've a http://tinyurl.com/n4pu7sf for work which I love to type on! And a http://tinyurl.com/nwly9zw in the brown for home gaming and typing. I love them both and wont go back to anything else.

I would recommend the TK as I love its size but it may not be for everyone :)

  • of course… the mouse is back in stock…. at full price.
