Nexus 7 2013 32GB Wi-Fi for $294 at Officeworks

140

I know it is not as cheap as the $279 deal but if you missed last chance, it is now a second chance to get it for less than $300

  • Hate to spoil the party, but I think that $299 is likely to be the new standard price for these guys within a few weeks (if not already).

That said, even at $299, this device is a terrific buy compared to other similar devices in-market, though a relatively small reduction like this hardly warrants the "bargain" status.

  • I wonder if they'll get the 4G model in.

  • I'm just curious, does the 2nd Gen Nexus 7 have any hardware issue (with the screen or anything else)?

    • People complain about backlight bleed and dead pixels. I have slight back light bleed on mine, supposedly pretty much all of them have it. I also had backlight bleed on my 2012 version, but it wasn't as apparent as it is on the 2013 version. Another complaint has been touch issues, mine didn't have any problems in this regard until I applied a screen protector, now it does and its annoying.

Here's an article about some of the problems here that people had. Google update was supposed to fix touchscreen issues, and random reboots. Never experienced random reboots, except running nfsmw, but that isn't officially supported.

Asus don't seem to have very good quality control it seems.

      • disappointed.

    • the worst thing about them for me is listening to anything at low volume and you get a lot of static-noise. so its annoying for watching stuff in really quiet environments, i am still happy with mine though!

    • For what it is worth I have 4 of these and have no touch screen issues.

      • Are you using screen protectors?

          No

    • I've started to notice the digitisor is a bit "sticky". If you turn on developer options you can show where it registers a touch. At times, it will register a touch, but not when you lift your finger off it.

I also have the speaker crackling at low volumes.

There's a little bit of lightbleed, but it's not that noticeable.

Despite reviews saying otherwise, it's a value tablet - it'll give you most, but not all, of the quality of an ipad or premium product at a decent price.

  • when we are on the topic about quality control,i bought the acer iconia a1 tablet that was on sale few weeks ago at dick smith, got it for my mum. First one had some kind of a lump on the middle of the screen on the inside and i had tu return it, the guy in the shop asked me whats the problem mwith it is it a dead pixel etc i said no and showed him and explained etc. They replaced it with a new one, when i got home and opened it,turned it on…lol dead pixel's,arghhh. Went back tomorrow to get another one, tried turning him on didnt wanna turn on,taught empty battery, connected it to power, started flashing and vibrating like mad! at this point i was worried what the hell i bought, returned again and got the 4th one, last one they had ins tore was fine, was thinking to get a refund but decide to keep it coz i have warranty etc.

Makes you wonder why they are discounted for a reason.

          Sheep? Wtf?

        • he/she meant iSheep or iFan, but obviously it is quite offensive to others, me too as I am using iPhone. People love a product not just because it has Apple logo on it, the customer services say it all

    • "went back tomorrow" - nifty trick :p

  • I'm not thinking that iphoners are sheep I think as we, the consumers, forgot to mention Xbox 360 and the red ring of death, overheating that kills your console, most times when the warranty has expired. product that should have been recalled, had few revisions but never got fixed. hope the next gen will be better.

I got it now,you are right, perhaps we all stop supporting them then, otherwise we will still be ripped off for sure

    • huh?

  • I have numerous issues with Asus tablet in the past. I have stuck with Samsung since that time. Nexus is built by Asus and seems to have failed on their quality control again and again. My transformer has so many minor issues that make it unusable. It won't charge properly and keep rebooting itself frequently. Asus had built up their brand from manufacturing quality motherboard which I have also noticed some quality control issues in the past 2 years. Asus sucks.
