It is a very good deal +1. But the new iPhone will be release in the comming 2 months, is it worth to purchase one now?

    • +1

Perhaps that is why it's been reduced?

      • spot on.

        • What new iPhone? Or are you talking about the upcoming iPhone software version 3.0?

    Fine print:

"Only those who have received this offer via email are eligible for this offer. This offer may not be forwarded to anyone else. Offer ends May 3rd, 2009 unless withdrawn earlier."

Does that mean you have to get this offer via email to be eligible?

How can this deal target existing 3 customers ONLY? Surely that must be discriminatory on some level… How did Optus even get the email addresses of 3 customers???

      3 sold us??

  • In fact is it an Optus offer. Not 3 offering the Iphone.

      optus offer to 3 customers

      • +1

So Optus somehow managed to get customer details from 3 and emailed them with a better deal….?

  • +1

I'm inclined to think this is a great deal - since the $59 optus plan seems to be the best value plan already… but is there anything else other than saving the $3 per month payment for the phone that you get that you wouldn't get normally by signing up online?

Don't you normally get the $50 credit for registering online anyway. And it's still just the 8gB, not the 16gB.

Even if it's just the $3 per month saving that's still a decent saving (24x$3 = $72) and I'm still tempted by it…

Or maybe it's worth waiting for a couple of months…

  • good deal!

  • Wait.. didn't the fine print say that you have to receive the offer via email in order to be eligible for the deal????

    • I think from the sounds of it you probably need to be a 3 customer to qualify - but when push comes to shove anyone could probably negotiate this deal since it's not much better than the standard plan…

Three and Vodafone are merging, so I assume 3 customer will have the iphone very soon.

Anyway, Iphone is never an option for me. I always want an Android, but even the Android does not come to 3 and instead land on Optus, hik.

  • I am on the Optus 3G iphone $59 plan, ie. this plan, seriously I am waiting for my plan to run out so I can switch to the NextG network, optus 3g around the melb cbd really suxs…you have been warned…

    • Thanks for the feedback dtrinh - I was contemplating this being in Melb but have heard similar issues with Optus.

    • Optus 3G sucks everywhere. That's why so many people are complaining about Virgin Broadband (Virgin Broadband is part of Virgin Mobile, which is 100% run by Optus)

  • Would they do this on there $19 cap? cant really afford the 59 cap atm, i have no job or sanity!

    • maybe in 10 years…

    • +2

Unfortunately you need to have a job or rich parents to afford such necessities as an iPhone. Terrible, I know.

    • Just wait a few months and these will be on ebay for really cheap as people dump them for the new iPhone. Then you can just stick with your $19 plan and still get a iPhone.

    • lol cap noob

  • Warning, You cannot purchase online if you only have a Visa Debit card. Not sure why their system does not allow this, but their sales team said that this was an issue that they were fully aware of, but apparently you need an actual credit card.

    • Presumably they want to diredt debit this credit card every month, and they have more freedoms to help themselves to your money when you're using a "real" credit card. Where a direct debit visa might not always have money reloaded into it.

      • Thats what I figured at first as well, but they also provided a direct debit option to take the money directly from a bank account…..

        • It's still the same argument that applies to your bank account. A Visa Debit can be thrown out at any time and is likely to not have money on it, whereas they are more than happy to put your bank account into negative to get money off you, and charge you a fee for a declined DD, and your bank will charge you for this as well.

  • unfortunately this plan is with Optus that have deadspots even in inner city areas

  • It's true that telstra and 3 are the better communications…
