Region free. But multiplayer and dlc won't work (don't know if this game has either of those)

Maybe multiplayer works as long as it doesn't have an online pass. Anyway as CyberGenesys mentioned check the other deal on what works and doesn't work.

I believe multiplayer will work as well as dlc, but you need a new memory card and activate US psn on that memory card(It's just stupid that you can activate one psn id per memory card). Thankfully now Vita memory cards aren't that expensive anymore(still significantly more expensive than micro sd cards though)
Just thought I'd add the details specific to Dragon's Crown, and not the 'generalized' account of cross region games, which is generally fine, but this saves people trying to figure out if it has or hasn't got X, and can/can't do Y.
Multiplayer works just fine with the US version on a PAL/AU Vita/PSN account; there is no region specific online pass. I've played a few hours online and have had no issues thus far.
DLC on the other hand, like everyone is saying, will be an issue IF they release 'worthwhile' DLC, if not, its a non-issue… Unless you want a narrator pack?
It will run fine on local vitas, no region locking on running games. Just DLC issues. To use any DLC that comes out for this you will need a US psn account and obtain it through there. Doesn't bother me as i'll be lucky to even finish the game let alone spend time on the DLC.

If you never buy DLC, you can play the US game on your AU vita with your AU PSN account.
If you buy DLC, you must buy US DLC otherwise the DLC will be incompatible with your game. To use US DLC, you must have a US PSN account running on your AU vita.DLC enforces region restrictions. Game cartridges do not.
I'm not an expert but that's my understanding from reading on OzB.
Sony doesn't region lock their stuff. They are not Nintendo where you could bring your 3DS with you overseas and find you can't buy any of the games you see while you're there because it's region locked.
Now, do you think there'll be any DLC? ;) So far there is nothing of worth.
