It's an AMD APU. The GPU is inbuilt with the CPU.

    Equivalent from MSY:

    AMD FM2 A10-5800K $139
ASRock FM2A85X-EXTREME4 $95 (listed board not available)
    Kingston 8GB Single DDR3 1600 $83 (listed brand N/A)
    Kingston KINSV300S37A/120G 120GB $99
    Seagate 3.5" Barracuda 1TB ST1000DM003 $67
Samsung SATA 22x Black DVD RW $18
    Thermaltake VO650B1W3A Versa I USB3.0 Tower Case with 500W PSU $78
    Build Fee $70

    Total $649

Once again, a good deal from CPL. I'm buggered if I know how they do it, MSY has barely any margin on Synnex/Altech etc. wholesalers. I know they do bundle deals on cpu/ram/mainboard etc. sometimes so I guess they're taking advantage of those… but even then that usually only knocks a few bucks off the price.

    shrug Good deal.

You have access to wholesale prices? If so would you like to share so the rest of the Ozbargainers knows how cool this deal really is:)

      • Pretty sure I signed various agreements that said I wouldn't publish that sort of thing. Plus my accounts with Synnex and Ingram are closed due to inactivity. But I'll give you a total compiled from three wholesalers I still have active accounts with:

        A8-6600K (A8-5800K not available anywhere)
        ASUS F2A85-M
        Crucial 8GB (1x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz
        Crucial M500 120GB
        1TB Seagate ST1000DM003
        Samsung SH-224DB/BEBS
Thermaltake Versa I Mid Tower USB 3.0 with 500W PSU

Total $606.10 parts only, not built

Yes, MSY is cheaper for parts on the small scale and CPL Online is significantly below normal single-purchase wholesale prices. It's also significantly below buy-10+ wholesale prices. Not a single item that was the same was cheaper at the wholesaler than it is at MSY. Not a single one.

Lesson for anyone wanting to start their own computer store - you need to turn over millions of dollars a month to get better prices at importers/wholesalers and compete with the big boys.

Looks like a good system for just home office / basic tasks.

Slightly awkward to me - $500 is a bit much for a non-gaming PC - If you just want to do work or study, an under $400 PC (with 4GB ram and no HDD, or no SSD?) would be fine.

Still, this one could play new games on low settings, the GPU included with the CPU (APU) is a 7660D:

Personally I think an SSD is more important to a non-gaming PC than it is to a gaming one. You could possibly get away without an HDD, but doesn't leave much room for anything other than basic apps. Yes, you could build a cheaper system, but if you've got $500 then I think this'd be a great choice.

    How much without

    HDD: 1TB Seagate SATA3
    ODD: Samsung DVD Writer

      • I sent an email already.

The in built GPU actually a bit quicker than the new Haswell integrated HD4600 so it could handle most games these days as well (Obviously not the latest on high settings, but most on medium)

Definitely a great deal, no idea how these guys keep doing this.

  • How much delivery to NSW 2154? And how much I can save without Samsung DVD Writer?

    • ~18 bucks probably

    • delivery to NSW 2154 would be around $12.35 for the changes you want to make, please send your request to [email protected] we will reply with quote. thank you

  • anyone knows is this built is good for photoshop or video editing?

    • -1

You'd need to invest in a dedicated graphics card. Could be anywhere from $100 - a few hundred, depending on how hard you'll push it.

      • +1

No, you don't really need a video card for Photoshop or video editing. It can help, but certainly isn't required.

  • For an APU, you'd really want 1866Mhz RAM if you plan on using the graphics, but this price is pretty decent for what you get.

    • yea the tek has great youtube on this , i couldn't believe the different is like ( 10 to 15 fps better) great improvement for like only $20 more

  • I'd be interested to see the sales numbers for these various CPL builds. My money is on the AMD builds not selling well….
