$138 with a controller. Considering on the weekend EB gave me $90 for my old non slim 2008 60Gb model with controller, this seems pretty good value.

    • EB gave you $90 0-0? Did you mean $9.0

    Still worth buying a PS3

The newest PS3 hasnt got the greatest reviews, "cheap, plasticky", but definitely has an amazing game library.

Anyone know of a good price to buy drives for this? considering upgrading my Xbox from the older units but don't want to loose the storage :)

    • From a reputable store considering this drives are proprietary.

    • Xbox 360 require certain models of HDDs and they need to be in a special caddy, Ebay has lots of HDDs/caddys already setup up and ready to go.
I brought one off of a ebay seller in Melbourne and it works sweet as, don't get ripped off by a retail store.

I wouldn't risk third party HDD/Caddy setups on a 360. They're always finding new ways to detect people with modified hardware, and the last thing you want is to have your new console banned from XBox Live over what probably amounts to <$50 difference. $100 will get you an official 320gb HDD for the 360. If you don't need much space, USB sticks are easy to use and can get you a decent amount of storage space.

This new 360 E model is fantastic. very quiet, looks nice, well built. Only downside is it doesnt have Optical-Out for those with Optical-In surround systems like a Z5500. I think there's an official splitter cable that you can buy though, but that's just more money on top.

The Drives on ebay are the exact same drives found in the official xbox 360 caddys (the caddy is just plastic so nothing to detect there) they are a standard Western digital HDDs and just need the right model and to have the offical xbox firmware flashed on them so there virtually no way xbox live could detect it.

        • have the offical xbox firmware flashed on them so there virtually no way xbox live could detect it.

I'm sorry but that is wrong on so many levels. Google it yourself, Microsoft can and do ban for people doing exactly what you're suggesting. A serial number check is all Microsoft need to see that its not an official Xbox HDD. If you think there is no way they can detect things like this you should do a bit of reading on what Sony/MS log every single time you log on to their networks.

Like I said, it IS against their Xbox Live terms and conditions and is cause for both a console and possibly account ban, so do it at your own risk. You might be fine for a week/month/year/decade…..or you might turn it on the next day and it has been banned with literally no chance of being unbanned.

For the sake of saving $50 you would be a fool to do it IMO. Lose hundreds/thousands of dollars of content to save $50? No thanks. Each to their own I guess.

What are the current softmodding options in the 360 scene? Does firmware flashing still work with this new 'E' model? Would I have to get a drive emulator chip like the 3rd gen PS3?

  • Guess the Xbox 360 is killing the Xboxone in sales :p

Is the 160gb slim PS3 here the hackable one?

    http://catalogues.bigw.com.au/catalogue/big-w-catalogue-chri…

whereas the newer 500gb super slim isnt?

  • Also does anyone know if those black wii's have the gamecube controller slots? i.e. is there anything missing in these wii's compared to the original wii?

    Thanks.

    • You're out of luck there, models from ~Dec '12 (or earlier, can't remember) onward had the GC controller + memcard slot phased out so no backwards compatibility. Besides that it completely the same.

If you want to play GC ISOs on newer models: softmod—>iso loader+diosmios or devolution. Loaders map the GC controls to work with wiimote+nunchuck or classic controller pro & game saves are stored as virtual memcard. So the phys. GC ports are redundant now.

      • really? that's interesting. so what, they just don't have any slots where the controllers use to be?

      • Thanks for that info, I still have my original wii, just wanted to be sure.

Although does anyone know about the PS3 (slim or super slim) being hackable?

  • Thanks. Bought the xbox to get the kids off minecraft on the PC. Free delivery isn't calculated until you are at the payment screen, initially it adds the delivery and then it gets removed.

  • will the ps3 500gb bundle be available online on the 14th as well?

  • Would 'Wasabi 360S ODE' work on this newest model w/o RGH?

  • XBOX 360 E 4GB Console - SOLD OUT ONLINE AND INSTORE - as of 7.40pm.

  • Its a pity you have to pay the full price when you try to Pre-order a PS4 Bundle online and at the same time get 10 bucks off too.

wonder if i can get them to take 10 bucks off instore?

  • How is this for netflix and streaming movies over wifi?

  • Looking to buy an Xbox 360 as a Christmas gift - do I wait for it to price drop further or grab this deal? What is the general consensus?

Surely there will be even better bargains before Christmas - especially with the new Xbox ONE out on 22 Nov?

    • +1

EB has 250gb 360s with 4 games (including Halo 4, Tomb Raider, etc) for ~$250 now. $50 cheaper than they were a few weeks ago. I would imagine places will be cheaper closer to Xmas though.

      • Thanks - it's for my son. He would like Minecraft on XBOX (fan of Stampeylongnose) rather than PC and doesn't want any other games. Hence I want to wait until the price drops as much as possible.

I think you're right, after 22nd Nov and in the run up to Christmas there are bound to be various deals as stores try to shift stock - especially the old stock.

        Cheers
