Got my inspiration from the FiiO E17 Alpen deal (bloody good deal by the way) to post this one.

I have been wanting to buy and try the weird and wonderful Brainwavz R3 but have been delaying it because of the price tag - $129.50 - a bit rich for a non-BA. But then this beauty of a deal popped up:

Some people do not like the fit, so if you like small and discrete earphones, probably this is not for you, but comments about the sound quality is what convinced me…and also I am very happy with my R2s, R3s should be even better, right? :) :

    received mine on Monday as well, sound quality of the x3 is incredible. Very let down by the R3 earphones, could not get a comfortable fit with any of the tips. Will see if i can sell it on ebay.

      I have a feeling they're "free" (cheaper) because they're customer returns, sticker on my package opened itself quite easily (like it had been resealed with the same sticker), and they weren't quite in their plastic retaining clips. shrug

      The sound quality on the R3 earphones is pretty amazing. The default tips are okay for me (might need to use the smaller ones for extended wear), but I've only had a few minutes of testing this morning. They barely fit in their padded carrying case though, due to the thick long cable!

      The chesky album that came with the x3 is great for testing out what your player can do.

      Check out any of the Allan taylor albums, they sound like they are produced for audiophiles.

    Spent two hours this afternoon ripping some of my vinyl to 192khz/24bit FLAC.

    Sounds amazing on the X3.

        I was thinking about selling the R3 and getting something a little less obtrusive. I.e. SE215

        Open to suggestions though.
