Why are neg's & comments in Bible bargain posts being deleted?

I pointed out quite logically in a new post today about a free bible app, that something that's free and already available for free widely, is not a bargain. There are literally hundreds of app's out there already that do the same as what was posted.

Within a few minutes, I was downvoted into oblivion, the comment became hidden & none of the responses seem to make any sense at all. Then the neg was removed from the bargain post votes and the bargain posted suddenly had a barrage of upvotes? All within the space of just a few minutes.

Are people just not able to state the obvious around here if it's a "bargain" post relating to one specific religion? It would really be nice to know in the wiki or faq's that religious bargain posts just aren't to be reasoned or commented about, unless it's a positive.

You being negged had nothing to do with 'religion'. As a result of you being negged your negative vote on the deal was automatically revoked.

You were negged due to not understanding that 'the study component' is not the same as a 'study course'. As stated in the comments the app is not a course.

The study component which includes 'study notes, maps, charts, illustrations, and theological articles' are very useful for people who are actually enrolled in a course or even at high school.

    Yes, this.

    Voting guidelines

    When negative votes are revoked:

The community casts a number of negative comment votes to any comment by the user casting the deal votes.
A moderator deems your vote to be invalid as it doesn't conform to voting guidelines.
If too many negative votes are revoked for a user, then this will result in the loss of negative voting abilities for 90 days.

In your case it is the community revoking your vote.

I think you've missed the bargain - the bible text is free but it's the study component that usually costs money (the extra text that compliments the free biblical text).

"The ESV Study Bible Web App includes the study notes, maps, charts, illustrations, and theological articles " those bits are the study notes.

I find it hard to believe you don't understand this or can argue against it.

You're not going to get rid of religious items off this website as the owner is Christian.

You're not going to get rid of religious items off this website as the owner is Christian.

That has nothing to do with it. I find the moderation fair and unbiased. Content is community submitted and rated.

    • Getting rid rid of religious items on this website isn't ideal either. Just because you aren't Christian doesn't mean that everyone else isn't either. Those deals might benefit some people out there.

E.g. just because you don't own a car doesn't mean that all automotive deals should be removed…etc.

I think it's obvious it has nothing to do with the site owner's christianity, because there's plenty of other blatantly anti-christian posts/etc. left untouched.
