      Handbrake has more functions and parameters to adjust size and quality of the destination video, it's therefore more suitable for professional users, can only export to mp4s and mkvs though.
      This program can convert to more formats, keeps the interface and processing simple to improve compatibility, but the settings to get the maximum quality are limited.
      TLDR: Depending on what you wan to do, you might need both.

        you should really only exporting to the mp4 and mkv container these days anyway, no need for anything else

      Nope. Just downloaded the Windows version and tried to activate using the key provided in the Mac download and it said invalid key :(

    MacX is pretty good. It's fast and reliable. I'm after their ripper but it's not available for free.

      There are more free video converters out there for Windows than there are for Mac. Look out for "Any Video Converter" for example

    Nice deal, but Handbrake is free and probably does a better job than this.

    Good, simple interface.
    Converted a flv file to mp4 - very handy.

    Handbrake was about 10 times faster for the same FLV -> MP4 conversion that I did. YMMV.
