        Thank you for your e-mail.

Please accept our apologies, my colleague has in fact misinformed you. I can confirm this product is a generic, unbranded Rubik's cube.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further assistance.

        Kindest regards,
        David

        • Revised ad:
Puzzle Cube (Inspired by Rubik's Cube)

      • I honestly hope you're right. I don't want a cheap knock off, even if it does move better or quicker or has led flashing light technology… I want it to be the exact same frustrating puzzle toy I had 30 years ago!
Edit: Damn, I just read your follow up post which was over the page!!! :(

  • Sorry, I have been wanting to neg this ever since I learnt this was an imitation but held off to see if Kogan changed the product title or something. It's been a day and since they haven't, I'm negging it now. If all I want is a fake one then there are countless cheaper options. So, definitely not a deal for me. In fact, I am surprised how it's got so many +s. We ozbargainers are never this forgiving.

  • +1

    Hi everyone

I signed up just so I could post this. I called Kogan today and this is definitely not a genuine Rubik's Cube. It's a generic Kogan branded one.

I've already asked for a refund. This is completely misleading of them.

    • +1

      Thank you for contacting Kogan.

We can confirm that this is an authentic Rubiks cube.

Thank you for your patience, please feel free to contact us should you require any further assistance.

      Kindest regards,
      Jordan

      WTF

      • Well you have got it in writing that it's an authentic Rubik's cube. That is encouraging, but only time will tell. This is the last chance I'm giving Kogan. If I get a fake I don't think I will ever order from Kogan again.

      • Deleted

  • You got Kogan'd, again!

  • Since we now have confirmation that this is fake and the original price is just a ruse, I'm giving this a neg because there are countless cheaper options. Ruslan is probably paying some Chinese factory 5c a piece on these.

  • +4

Agreed, but I can only revoke my vote now!
I will be cancelling my order immediatley with them. I've also taken it a step further by notifying the Rubik's company of the infringement!

  • I have had to neg this too, why did Kogan resort to such misleading and deceptive practice and not even bother correcting the ad

  • dealname should be updated

  • Can get it cheaper since it's not original anyway and the cost is not $19 to start with.

  • It's no longer $5 and it's a pain to get this cancelled. Plus infringement and all that stuff

  • I tried to cancel it on the premise that it is a fake item and they misled me with their high RRP and this was their response:

    Hi,
    Thank you for contacting Kogan.
Your order has already been processed for dispatch and our warehouse was unable to process your cancellation request on this occasion.
We are confident you will love your new product when it arrives, however if you would like information on how to return your order, please refer to our Returns Policy here
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further assistance.

    • Same here. I replied asking if they will cover the return postage due to the misleading site. Their policy states I will have to pay…

      • +2

I'm going to submit an 'item not as described' complaint with Paypal when I get mine!!!

  • They have now changed the description to:

Puzzle Cube (Inspired by Rubik's Cube)

You know, after they have sold 1000+ units to unsuspecting buyers. They are so dodgy.

  • +1

I heard Kogan is changing their description too, to avoid potential misunderstanding
    Kogan (Inspired by Dodginess)

  • Your email order confirmation still says "1 x Rubik's Cube", and if it helps I took a screen capture of the original listing (after the sale ended unfortunately): http://i.imgur.com/RVt0ZKX.png

    • Wow, now they are charging $19 (!) for a fake puzzle cube.

    • The paypal invoice doesn't have a description on it… But luckily the Koscam invoice clearly states 1 x Rubik's Cube.

  • +3

First time with Kogan. So far, poor experience.
Poor form that they changed the item description.

Please cancel my order and process a refund.
Your site suggests this is a genuine cube but I've found out its an

    My reply
    Hi,

Will the return postage be covered by Kogan?
I would not have ordered this if it said it was not the real thing. The name of the item meant it should be a genuine one.

    Hi,

    Thank you for contacting Kogan.

As this is a change of mind, as per our terms and conditions for our 14 Day Money Back Guarantee, you will be liable for the cost of returning this product.

Please note that you must include the original packaging and all accessories to be eligible for a refund under the 14 Day Return Policy.
    http://www.kogan.com/au/returns-policy/

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require any further assistance.

    Kindest regards,
    Alexandra

    My reply:
This is not a change of mind, I feel mislead by the title and rrp which implies this is a genuine Rubicks cube. There is no mention that this is an imitation product. I will await delivery and inspect the quality. If it's acceptable I will be happy to keep it, despite feeling mislead. However, if it doesn't meet my expectations then I would expect you to cover the return postage costs. If I cannot return this item without incurring additional cost, I will make a complaint with the Accc.

    Please advise.

    Regards

    • +3

Those bastards. Banking on the fact that individuals won't do it for a few bucks. I'll be right behind you on that ACCC complaint.

    • I got the same email after trying to cancel.

Expected ship date was "2-3 weeks"
Suddenly they've got stock to despatch..

Never ordered from Kogan before, how are kogan's delivery timeframe like after 'despatch'? if anyone who has had experience could provide some advice?

Also, paid with paypal, will it be easier to dispute via PayPal if they refuse to cover return cost?

  • If it comes by courier you can also refuse delivery.

    • Yeah, but we've already paid for it! PayPal Res Centre for me! Item not as described!

      • Does Paypal help when it's purchased outside of Ebay?

        • +2

Absolutely! It's for all Paypal transactions. Not saying that I'll definitely get it, but this is the box I'll be ticking… I received my item, but it is significantly not as described. And maybe Paypal will see a pattern emerge if enough of us do it!!!

        • Unfortunately you're wasting your time with Paypal and unscrupulous retailers like kogan and ozgameshop (nicely misleading name for a UK company) know and take advantage of this. It will be uneconomical to return this as it was for me with a bodgy ozgameshop delivery so paypal's dispute policy will completely disregard it.

No matter what reasoning you provide, paypal will send you a bunch of useless generic emails stating they are still waiting on your tracking information for the returned package.

I'm certain companies like this actually have this as part of their business model. Paypals mediocre dispute policy is actively encouraging this behaviour.

        • What about a 'counterfeit item' claim? According to the PayPal User Agreement we have to "Make the item available for the seller to collect at their expense."

        • I think this is worth a try. It's what I'm going to do.

        • +1

I have now opened a 'Significantly Not As Described' dispute with PayPal, claiming I received a counterfeit item, and requesting a refund without return.

        • +1

these guys are dodgy as… their reply to my PayPal dispute was that they were willing to give me a refund on the item without return, but only AFTER I closed the dispute. Why would I do that?!

        • Hell no!!! That's a sure sign they know they'll lose!!!

        • Got my refund! :P

  • +1

Negged as they mislead customers stating it was a Rubik's cube, now only saying "inspired by rubik's" - almost guaranteed that it'll be of inferior quality.

Poor form, kogan. I encourage everyone to go straight to ACCC as their email "support" is useless.

  • damn, koganed.

  • What is next .. Lemon Phone inspired by (Apple iPhone 5s) crooks. Neg.

  • I've aways 'hated' Kogan. This is my first order from them on the basis of it being a Rubik's Cube, which it's clearly not.

I've also complained to them demanding a refund, but i'm guessing i'll get the auto response everyone else here has. neg'd too.

  • Has anyone received there's yet? I'm still waiting

    • As am I.

For a counterfeit product that they misleading advertised as genuine and won't let me cancel to get a refund.

      • Not too long before I put in a complaint with Paypal!!!

  • Got mine today and although I've never had a real Rubik's before, I'm pretty sure it's not genuine.

    'Genuine' packaging.

Stickers don't even line up properly and no Rubik's sticker.

Hideous bubbles under a few stickers.

    Excess sticker.

I've sent an email to them. Will see what they say.

  • +1

    Kogan the dogs
Got mine today the cubes are loose
Im putting complaint to accc, twitter, fb, paypal
I am attacking their FB now with comments

My paypal complaint (selected less valuable substitute and Imitation)

The Kogan website has been modified since I bought the item.
When I bought it was advertised as a Rubiks cube and the Kogan page stated it was worth over $20. My invoice email states Rubiks Cube now they have changed their page to say Puzzle Cube (Inspired by Rubik's Cube)

This is a counterfeit priduct very poorly built with defects
This is an illegal sale and I will be pursuing more aggressive complaints against this reprehensible company Kogan the dog

  • They've told me I can return it for a full refund (because my invoice says Rubik's Cube), they'll pay for postage etc. Let's see how that goes!

    • Wait a second. Aren't we not allowed to post counterfeit items?

      • Not many knew it was counterfeit until it was too late!!! I'm sure the mods left this deal posted so that we can all communicate with one another regarding the possibility and outcome of a return/refund!

  • I got mine today. Quality fairly poor. Stickers look a bit wonky, some with bubbles. For $5 I CBF sending it back.

  • +1

Got it today, after rotating it once it fell apart. This thing is cheap and not usable. Total junk

  • +3

OK, Like the rest of you I'm sure, I put in my complaint with Paypal as a "Copy of Original" / "Imitation" / Substitute". Here's what I wrote as the accompanying message:
Please note: The link on the website has since been changed to list this item as "Puzzle Cube (Inspired by Rubik's Cube)", where as the listing I originally made the purchase of the item was listed as a "Rubik's Cube". The invoice I have clearly states that this item was to be a "Rubik's Cube". I was under the assumption based on your advertising that this was indeed a genuine branded "Rubik's Cube" and not the no branded, blank boxed imitation that I received.
If you could please refund me the full amount I paid for this item I will dispose of the item according to the international copyright agreement held by Rubik's Brand Ltd for this particular item!

thanks for writing this up, let us know how you go. I'll use a similar response once I receive mine

Kogan Technologies has agreed to grant a $5.00 AUD refund to settle thisdispute. It may take up to 5 working days for the refund amount to appearin your account. This dispute will then be closed.
Not too bad, less than 12 hours!!!
Just have to remind myself next time… Don't buy from Kogan!!!

        • +1

Just got the same reply too

Thanks for the wording. I have used it as part of my dispute.

Even if this item didn't fall apart for me on the first twist I think everyone should dispute this out of pure principle. Kogan needs to learn that they can't deliver crap and expect to get away with it.

    • +1

Thanks for the wording. Used to to start my dispute after 7 emails back and forth to their "customer support". All they do is link you to their returns policy. In fact, throughout the emails they did this several times:

      Email 1:
"Once you have received this product you can return it using our
returns policy. To view more information on our returns policy you can visit the help centre on our website here: http://www.kogan.com/au/help/category/support-kogan-brand-pr…

      Email 2:
"As this is a change of mind, as per our terms and conditions for our 14 Day Money Back Guarantee, you will be liable for the cost of returning this product. Please note that you must include the original packaging and all accessories to be eligible for a refund under the 14 Day Return Policy.
      http://www.kogan.com/au/returns-policy/"

      Email 3:
"If you are unhappy with the product once you receive it, you are welcome to return the item under our 14 Day Money Back Guarantee, as mentioned by Alexandra in her previous e-mail. You can view the terms and conditions of our return policy here

      http://www.kogan.com/au/returns-policy/"

      Emil 4:
"We are confident you will love your new product when it arrives, however if you would like information on how to return your order, please refer to our Returns Policy here (LINK)"

      They are thick.

      • +1

They accepted the dispute and refunded. Yay.

I got a quick refund today and also I told Rubik to investigate

    To: [email protected]
    Subject: Rubiks Enquiry: Legal

I bought a Rubik's cube from a very big retailer in Australia who advertised
them as genuine. The cubes arrived and they are very poor fakes but sold as
official. I have the evidence they advertised it as genuine. The offender is
called Kogan Look them up They have since changed it from Rubik's cube to
puzzle cube but they sold thousands using your name Please advise they are
ruining your reputation with this illegal scam

    Rubik's Cube

  • My paypal dispute was refused..

    We advertised the cube as

    "Puzzle Cube (Inspired by

    Rubik's Cube)".

If you are not happy with it,

we can certainly get you to

return it for refund as per

    our returns policy.

I will email you the returns

    instructions shortly.

    Regards,

    Arun

    • +1

      When did you purchase it?
Look in your invoice that they sent.

On my invoice it lists the old name "Rubik's Cube"

    • Arun wrote me the same thing. When I purchased it, it was listed as a Rubik's Cube. I wrote back, and received a refund immediately.

      Dear Arun,

The product I purchased was certainly not advertised as a "Puzzle Cube (Inspired by Rubik's Cube)". The product was originally described as a "Rubik's Cube", and I believe it was changed to a "Puzzle Cube" after a complaint. My order confirmation lists the product as a Rubik's Cube, which is why I was disappointed to receive a generic branded cube.

I am happy to return the item, but I am not willing to pay for the return shipping/packaging of the item. Please advise if you can organise a courier to pick up the item from my address, or otherwise offer an alternative suggestion.

      Thank you,
      terlalu

  • This mob are shocking. I am starting to think the golden age of online ordering is ending. I have been ordering (a lot) online for over 10 years and only ever had minor issues which were usually rectified honestly by even the private sellers. In the last year I've had several dodgy product deliveries in a row and the seller behaviour is like this. They use paypal policy as a shield. Thankfully this is the first and only thing I'll ever order from logan so I consider this a cheap lesson. Their dishonest business conduct here is clearly intentional and atrocious. You'd have to be mad to order anything of real value from them.

Between companies like this and ozgameshop I believe unscrupulous online seller behaviour is on the rise. These companies can't be held accountable because their base is offshore.

    Buyer beware I guess..

  • Just to wrap things up, I went through the proper Kogan "customer support" refund process and just got my $5 back. I did have to send the cube back to them, but they paid for postage costs.
