Subway - Foot Long Bacon and Egg Roll $5 Syd Airport Domestic Departures

70

Expecting to get ripped off as usual when skipping breakfast at home before flying out from Kingsford Smith, was pleasantly surprised to see this promotion. Of course being Subway you get a choice of wholemeal bread options also, and the bacon is shortcut so not fatty. You also get the option of ham instead of bacon, and cheese is also thrown in. No idea when this is starting or finishing or if it's at other Subways (from memory it's usually $4 for a 6").

There is also a promo for 2 x 600mL Coke varieties for $5, not healthy at all but beats getting gouged on the plane.

These are bloody disgusting by the way. Its all just thrown in the microwave. The egg is the worst.

    • Yep, tried this about a year ago with high hopes (for some reason). Was very disappointed.

    • Are in flight meals really any better?

      • Infinitely.

Have you even eaten an inflight meal?

Have you tried one of these?

      • It varies really, some in-flight meals cost more and suck

    • 100% AGREED

THESE ARE THE WORST MOST EVIL THINGS EVER

Absolutely disgusting. Rank. You have been warned.

    • Not wrong. Had one of these once, 2 years ago. Unless someone is dishing them out for free, well, even then I'd have to be extremely hungry……

This just gave me a footlong.

  • Or it really 11 inches?

  • Of course being Subway you get a choice of wholemeal bread options also

Was curious why Subway call their ostensibly wholemeal option "wheat" bread, and found on looking at the ingredients that "whole" is mentioned nowhere for any of their breads. Far as I know, pretty much every wholemeal bread will specify wholemeal wheat flour or the like in the ingredients. Given that and the strange "wheat" moniker Subway uses on its menu, I doubt it's wholemeal.

Seems as a result, the healthiest of Subway's breads is actually multigrain, going by the nutritional info.

    • I was under the impression that "wheat" is just an Americanism. Mind you it is hard to trust American fast food…

    • Just did a search and according to the link contains Wheat Bran, which outs to be the same as whole wheat if they are including it in the right proportions

    • These are not things of significant importance. Nobody goes to Subway to be healthy.

  • The egg is really bad…
