Xbox One or Xbox 360?

I was planning to purchase the Xbox 360 due to its unsane cheap prices also the games, but then the Xbox one looks like a rather fine unit, a entire upgrade from its predecessor. the only hold back to the xbone is that there is no backward compatability, also it's far more expensive. last concern im not to sure how long till the 360 games will be out of production. I know most of you might say just purchase both, but then it will cost way more. Should I just wait for a preowned Xbox one?

  • I generally never get the first version of a console. The second version is always much more superior ('slim' version). Go for the 360. The console is cheap and the games will be much cheaper too. You'll be able to get 3-4 Xbox 360 games for the price of a single Xbox One game. It's a great opportunity to catch up on all the games you haven't played yet. Don't worry about not being able to find the game. In 5 years, games like GTA V will be sitting in a cart in EB Games for $10. It won't be hard finding the game you want. Plus, you can always buy the games online through the Marketplace.

Yeah ever since the Xbox one is out, people have been trading in hundred of games to so you'll be able to find almost any 360 game for cheap

  • I'd go for the Xbox One(or PS4). Xbox 360 came out 8 years ago, so I doubt there would be that much more new games coming out. Xbox 360 is great value, but the Xbox One seems much better in every way.

    • games are still coming out on the 360. I bought the Xbox One but I still have my 360 set up right next to it because the 360 is still relevant.

Apparently Microsoft will be supporting the 360 till 2016.

    • Correct. Plus, the huge install base of 360/PS3 means that developers will try their best to release all their games on the older platform too.

Will be interesting to see if this is true as this seems to always be the story when a nextgen console launches only to find 6 months down the track all we get is weird games coming out of Japan.

      • XBox definately got dropped like a rock but the PS2 had big titles coming out for a long time after the PS3. At the time though, the PS3 was very expensive and there were a lot of PS2s around.

  • XBOX 360. There is no argument. Get the Xbox One if you hate good games.

Or you could just wait. In 12 months, there will be decent games, and the price will be monumentally decreased.

Get the Xbox 360 first then pickup these games in the bargain bin:

    Red Dead Redemption
    Skyrim
    Halo 3
    Battlefield 1943 (digital download)
    Battlefield Bad Company 2
    Forza 3
    Bioshock
    Mass Effect

That will keep you busy for a long time.

    • Halo Reach/Halo Anniversary and the Gears of War series is probably another good suggestion for bargain stuff. Whew exclusives! I know you can get at least first two Gears's for cheap as chips.

      Also Dead Rising.

But yeah, what this guy says.

      • Can I add Fallout 3/NV ? One of my last gen faves

  • So what's the best XBOX 360 deal atm? Is it worth buying off ebay? I know there's lots of XBOX 360 models out there, are there any to avoid? 4gb vs 250gb?

I don't know much about the 360 but it's very cheap so I'm keen. Please help me out!

    • Get a HDD. You'll want somewhere to save all the games from the Sale they're having this weekend :)
