Thanks to jimbla, still available: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Braun-Series-5-550cc-Electric-Sha…

Very good price for a very good shaver. This deal is from Shaver Shop. Their website lists it for $199, and it is $199 in store. Other prices in Australia are around $250, and overseas between $130 and $200.

Has a Clean and Charge system that cleans and charges the shaver at the touch of a button for a shaver that's like new every day.
From Braun website: The Series 5 offers an excellent shave in problem areas and features the patented ActiveLift™ middle trimmer, the unique OptiFoil™ and the contour adaptive shaving head. The Series 5 combines ergonomic Braun design with highest Braun quality. Enjoy the convenience of Braun‘s advanced cleaning center: it automatically cleans, charges and lubricates your shaver at the touch of a button.

EDIT: Use coupon code "CPMXNM15" to get another $15ish off. This may or may not work on your paypal account. It will show up that you get $15 off when you put the code in ebay, but when you sign into paypal to complete the purchase, it may or may not allow you to use the code. It didnt let me use it.

  • Anyone know how the Braun series 5 compares to the Panasonic ES-LA63-S deal

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124198

  • Can I use this in the shower?

how about compare to Panasonic ESLT31 3 Blade Electric Shaver? They are both $99

    • anyway, i just bought one

  • Bought similar braun push button power switch a few yrs ago. It turned on and off by itself. Still under warranty, i got a replacement. Service centre said it is a known switch issue. After using the replacement for a few weeks, it got the same problem. Switching on by itself and drainned the battery. I thought a $200 rrp shaver must be good. My replacement is 7 in 1 $70 philip. The motor wont turn till i bang it and making a loud screeching sound. My Next shaver will be panasonic. Going to test the quality.

  • And gone.

  • Yeah has it expired?

  • Edit: Whoops wrong one!

got it today seems very good smooth don't know about using the alcohol bay every time though will probably seal it and only clean it sometimes as its $20 for a refill they recommend every 4 weeks yeah right it just needs alcohol in the current bay will do the same thing.

  • I am very unimpressed with mine. I bought one many years ago and it doesn't seem like technology has improved all that much. It does a decent job on the face but when it comes to the neck it seems to miss a lot of the hair. I'll try it again tomorrow but it looks like i will be going for the 60 day money back guarantee.

Make sure you tilt your head up or to the side as much as you can so your skin is sort of stretched. Does the trick for me.

    • That's an electric shaver vs a razor mate.

I'm tempted to return mine too as it does a kind of lame job on the neck and I usually have to pull out my razor to clean it up. Maybe it was because I just did it after a shower and it didn't do it properly, i'll give it a go on a dry beard first.

      Here is the form

      http://www.braun.com/-/media/medialib/downloads/anz/promotio…

But it will cost like $20 to return post the damn thing as it is a pretty large box so i'm tempted to stick it out and give it a better go

Got mine today to replace my 18 year old Braun. Never cleaned it, serviced it or repaired it.
Now wondering if I really needed a new one.. That requires a $20 monthly refill..

Shaver Shop marked the item on eBay as posted on Wednesday, but today I get an email direct from the Shaver Shop with an Australia Post tracking number confirming that it was actually posted today - 2 days later.

Tsk tsk, Shaver Shop - I hope this was just a clerical error and not an attempt to get dodgy with the eBay rating system.

This is marked at $99 in store as well, saw it at the Shaver Shop Parramatta today (didn't take a photo). If you are registered for the shop small AMEX promo, you can get $10 statement credit as well. But they charged 1.5% surcharge using Amex though. I bought the $20.95 2pks refill cartridge to get $10 statement credit.

    • I thought I saw it in a store over here in WA as well but upon looking closer it was the 350 model instead of the 550. Packaging looks similar just different model. Not sure whether it's the same over at Parramatta. Tried to buy something at the store here but they don't accept Amex when they were listed on the Amex website.

      • No, I didn't look closer as I was walking out the store. the price sign says was $199 now $99

        • That would be the 350 model as their website has it from $199 to $99, while the 550 is from $299 to $199.
