to clarify the misleading comment above, the advantage of a 3.5" is that if you dont need portability or arent anally tidy, they are much cheaper (for $99 you can get 3tb for example)
How is this deal much different from the centrecom WD 2tb deal from yesterday (after converting this to AUD)
The WD can not be used as Laptop HD. it needs extra shipping (around $13 for sydney) and it is expired.
Well for a 2 cent drop in the AUD to US, I expect it to be $100 more.
The price of shipping this back to the States for any warranty claims kind of hurts the deal a lot. Toshiba don't do international warranty, except for a small number of laptop models.
Their "limited international warranty" on some other items isn't much good either, you will find you will be up for some costs in any claim. http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/file/web/resource/pdf/warranty-s… (for example, it is common for them to source the replacement from the country of original purchase and bill you for shipping and duties)
WD provides international warranty.
Got two last time. They are better then the 3.5" one that requires power cables as it keeps the table tidy.
