Limit 2 per person. Walk-in only. Coupon is in today's Herald Sun (just get it from a cafe like I did). Will likely sell out quickly. I took it to Dan Murphy's QV, on the spot price match, without verifying GWD.com has stock.

    Pronounced "mo-wett" and not "mo-ay". :)

It's amazing how people try to sound sophisticated and put on a French accent when saying this incorrectly!!! ;)

    • I am more inclined towards mo-wett but without the t at the end, I've also heard some ppl say moi.

My French is a bit rusty, but I'm pretty sure a single t at the end of a word is always silent, unless followed by a word starting with a vowel. As this is Moët et Chandon, the 't' forms a liaison with the 'e' in 'et', hence the word is not mo-eh (certainly not 'ay', as the e has that thing the Germans call an umlaut) , by mo-et ay chandohh.

"Moët" is a Dutch name and not French, so the 't' at the end isn't silent. You can go all French on the "Chandon" bit, though. ;)

        Wikipedia on the pronunciation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo%C3%ABt_&_Chandon#Pronunciati…

And an ad by Moët & Chandon where the correct pronunciation can be heard at the beginning (see also other videos on their Youtube channel): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0GwRuWMt_U

Correct about the t… Normally, but there are exceptions. But that's not the reason here. Simply put, it's actually a surname and not a word, and the family name is not even French, it's actually Dutch. Hence, it's pronounced mo-wett. electronictomato was spot on from the wett mo… I mean get go!!!
Edit: I didn't see electronictomato's response above… But once again, spot on, and good clarification!

  • Be wary of cheap brand name champagne. Some is parallel imported and not treated as well in the shipping process (i.e. hot containers etc..) which can spoil the champagne.

The main point of this deal is to price match at Dan Murphy's/1st choice.

        Awesome username John !

  • any idea how/if this would work in Qld? Cheers guys.

    • First you need a copy of the coupon…

      • online anywhere? hmmmmmm wonder where i'd find a Herald Sun, hard paper to get a hold of here.

    • +1

It doesn't. Dan Murphy's policy is to only price match with a shop that is no more than 10km away.

      Sorry!

  • What coupon?

I see the ad in today's Herald Sun but there's no mention of a coupon. Sounds like anyone can walk in and get up to 2 bottles for $35 each.

    • +1

True…unless you want to price match, in which case it effectively becomes a coupon for inner Melbourne Dan Murphy's/1st Choice.

      • I've managed to get Dan Murphy's Mulgrave to price match a couple of times. It's just a tad over 10kms away!

        • Got Dan Murpheys to price match a few bottles as GetWinesDirect closes way too early at 6pm.

        • Dan Murphys Melb Metro stores will beat the price regardless of 10km radius policy…first choice won't unless 10km from a Get wines direct store

  • Great find OP - killing me to have to pass it up.

  • Stella for $29.99 is a great deal in itself!!

    • +1

The Stella is 12x 660ml…..Dan Murphys won't beat this as they don't stock that size

  • dirty cheap, not a bad drop for the price, although plenty of better champagnes abound.
