$1 Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 (Save 94%)

1550

BFBC2- My favourite and first game I played in the series. Active playerbase and amazing price(lowest I've seen is $5), great for those who want to try the series on a budget or those with lower spec PC's.

    Note: you must use the origin client for this deal to redeem the code, its not hard to use despite the hate.

    • I cannot order anything using the website or the client. I keep getting the error ref. #10048

      Help, anybody?

    Can't go wrong for a dollar :P

    • +1

      A no-brainer for a buck, no matter how much you despise EA. They're upping their act since that origin humble bundle(best one in history). Also we are getting it relatively cheaper than US and Euro for once.

  • great game for that price, also check out the http://dpgamer.com link to get $10 off if you are spending over $30. (credit to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124719)

    Got this for free two summers ago when origin glitched.

  • This was mentioned in the Origin Sale post earlier this morning.

      This is without a doubt the best deal "OzBargain wise", I missed it when reading through the massive list of titles it was all the way down the bottom. Arguably it needs a post of its own. Make sure everyone buys now! It's only on for one day!

      • Thanks for highlighting this offer, but can you elaborate a little on this for me:

        "It's only on for one day!"

        Isn't the sale supposed to be until 3 December? If BF:BC2 is only going to be $1 for one day, do you know when it will end? If I try to buy in about 2 hours from now, will I make it in time?

        • I'm not sure I just heard it was just for "Black Friday", so assumed it was just for a day. Can't find any official expiry time which is annoying

        • Ah, so there's a chance it'll be longer. Sweet! Great find by the way, I was another one who completely missed seeing it down the bottom of the list in the other thread.

    better than BF3

    Bad Company was my favourite of the series.

    Saboteur for $2.49

    Crysis $3.99

    Battlefield 2 $5.99 - Is this still good to get?

    Sleeping dogs on Steam for $4.99

    • Also Dead Space 2 for $5.00 to complete the set from the humble bundle

    So much better than BF3 or BF4.

      Are cheaters much of a problem with any of the Battlefield games? As an oldie, I am not obsessed with winning but rather just having an enjoyable experience, but it is hard to if you keep getting slain all the time by people cheating, spawn zone camping, team killing, or otherwise dastardly behaviour.

      Anyway, here is the battlefield 2 link for $6 US. On Amazon the cheapest is $10.
      https://www.origin.com/en-au/store/buy/battlefield-2/pc-down…

      • When I played Battlefield 3 I would see blatant cheating about once every three weeks (ie, 94 kills and one death or something like that), and less blatant but still perceptible cheating once or twice a week.

        If you browse the fpscheat and automatic aiming forums, it seems that most people there consider that cheating is quite common. Maybe in a server of 64 people there would be at least one cheat.

        It helps that most cheaters these days use "legit mode" which makes cheating less obvious. Also, from reading the forums, it seems like detections via punkbuster and the like are much lower than they used to be.

        With BC2 I didnt notice nearly as many cheats. There wouldnt be many now as most of them would have moved on to BC3.

        • +3

          94 kills and one death is not necessarily an indication of cheating.
          Having assisted in getting figures like this several times it was simply good teamwork in keeping the tank driver running

        • This was during a scavenger game. It had nothing to do with keeping a tank running.

    • I'm inclined to agree, it had a slightly more arcade feel, but the levels were so great. I had a lot more fun with BF2.

      Been out of it for a while, still alot of gamers online?

    • BF3+4 are the spiritual successors to BF:BC2.

      We are yet to see a spiritual successor to Battlefield 2.

  • Thanks.

      LOL DH!

      You can't resell this one mate, activates via your account as soon as you purchase.

  • Great, thanks.

    Got one.

  • Definitely worth a dollar punt, theres a lot of for this game, and given the bs happening with BF4 you might find some peeps coming back to this after a while plus all the newbies taking advantage of this.

    Love the OP sniping shotguns.

    • I got kicked off all the remaining servers on my steam account for abusing the carl gustav in bc2. I might buy this for a dollar and give it a run. Geez I had a lot of fun with it, must have played over a thousand hours.

  • I noticed they also have the digital deluxe version for $16 - is it worth it at that price?

  • +1

    Hey guys I have been playing BFBC2 for 3 years and its far better than BF3 or BF4 you should do yourself a favor and buy the game we need more players on the EA Server though . I am a member of the +DSA+ Luketas you should join up it's great fun and don't worry about hackers or cheats they rarely show up and if they do its obvious and their gone quick smart. See you on the servers .

  • Can anyone tell me when this offer ends? (in Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time would be handy)

    I want this bad, but I can't get to the Origin store at the moment due to being at work. Will I make it home in time this afternoon?????

    • +1

      People it's friday afternoon, don't pretend you're working! Help me pleeeeeeeease!

      Edit: Someone's told me it's available until 3 Dec! Woohoo!

      • Aaaand I got it. Thanks OP!!!!

  • Thank you :)

    Argh.. I liked this game, played it halfway through but left it for a few months. Came back to it recently, but now it wants me to "reactivate" it, and wouldn't accept either of my origin accounts :-(

    And EA Support were total dicks about it; refused to help, refused to even send a password reset email to the account, ignored my valid steam key and told me to go talk to the Steam people about it (who, naturally, said there was nothing they could do since it was Origin's activation that was blocking). So now I have a game I paid for that I can't play, because Origin.

    What do I do? Pay the $1 and give them more money so I can keep playing, rewarding their evilness? Or is $1 so cheap I can convince myself I'm ripping them off somehow?

    Origin: The tales of horror are usually true :-(

    • Pay the $1 so that you're not screwing yourself out of more enjoyment of the game. And in terms of getting them back, simply wait for an opportunity that doesn't affect you more than them. It may never come, in which case be zen and let it go.

    • -2

      Cool story bro.

    • so it doesn't activate on steam?

      • It activates on Steam and Origin. The Steam side is fine; just the Origin side decided it needed to be reactivated.

        Guess I'll pay the dollar, and steer clear in the future of games that need two companies to consent to let you play the game you bought; seems it's always the other company's problem.

        • if the steam side is fine, why bother with origin? aren't they independent of each other when it comes to playing the game?

          i just bought this now and unfortunately it's only an origin key

        • No choice :-( Bought it on Steam, downloaded from Steam, but once installed, it also requires an Origin account and activation before it plays.

  • Such good single player

  • +1 still the best game.

  • So can i get confirmation that this is able to be played on steam? Or is it just with the Origin client?

    • Origin only.

  • Able to buy this as a gift?

    • 99% sure you can, as they provide a key.

      If not, it is covered by their game guarantee, so you can get a full refund ;)

      https://www.origin.com/en-au/great-game-guarantee

    • yeah u get a key which u redeem to activate..

      i bought it on one account but redeemed the key on a secondary origin account

  • For the record, this was actually the result of a vote Origin had:

    "I received an email from Origin about a special price of $1 for one of these games, depending on the results of the vote.

    • FIFA SOCCER 12
    • BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY™ 2
    • THE SIMS™ 3 PETS

    Head over to http://www.origin.com and make a vote. The sale will occur on November 28th for the game that wins."

    http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/comments/1r9g6v/origin_vot…

    • Yes! You're right, I remember that now. I voted on it, for Battlefield Bad Company 2 of course.

  • Just a heads up I guess

    I play BC2 very occasionally and there are somewhat populated servers however it's usually only 1-3 servers and during non peak hours like during work/school time or late night not many if anyone plays

  • Stupid ref. #10048 error won't let me get this nor the BF4 deal :(
    Tried US VPN's, no luck

    Awesome game for only a dollar!

  • SweetFX 1.5.1 settings if you've got extra fps to spare. Feel free to share yours if you have something much better. A 2010 game can look this next gen, which is pretty impressive.

    #define USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1 //[0 or 1] = THRESHOLD 0.10 - SEARCH_STEPS 10 - STEPS_DIAG 6 - ROUNDING 100 - EDGE_DETECTION 1 - LINEAR_BLEND 0
    #define USE_LUMASHARPEN 1 //[0 or 1] = sharp_strength 0.65 - sharp_clamp 0.035 - pattern 2 - offset_bias 1.5
    #define USE_BLOOM 1 //[0 or 1] = BloomThreshold 28.00 - BloomPower 1.2500
    #define USE_HDR 1 //[0 or 1] = HDRPower 1.05 - radius2 0.90
    #define USE_VIBRANCE 1 //[0 or 1] = Vibrance 0.15
    #define USE_CURVES 1 //[0 or 1] = Curves_contrast 0.15

    Almost default settings. Inspired by This. Somehow, his settings didn't work properly for me during the intro dark scene. Here's my screenshots.

    Before
    After

  • So much better than BF3, have't even bothered with BF4. BFBC1 & 2 fo life!

  • Has anyone got multiplayer issues?

    • +1

      go to online multiplayer, click search for server on the right, join servers this way rather than through the client.

      • do u need to enter the key in the redeem code bit under the multiplayer menu in game?

      • thankyou, such a simple solution i look stupid now

  • btw: i think i may have gotten 2 copies of this even though i just bought 1. I bought it on my primary account but never redeemed the code. I logged into my secondary account and redeemed the code and the game appeared on my secondary account's my games list. when I go back to my primary account, it still has bc2 on it and i can join a multiplayer server without having to ever redeem a code. (when i view the info of the game on my primary profile, there is no code displayed)………

  • Went to buy this only to find EA have suspended my almost brand new account for some make believe breach of terms of agreement

  • For those who are new to the multiplayer mode like myself, my advice to you is pick up other people's weapon pack because none of the classes have useful gear at first. Also, get into tanks.

    I had trouble killing other people before even though I played single player campaign for serveral hours on hard. I thought this game's multiplayer was impossible for newbies (since everyone's got better gear than me), so I googled to check for solutions. After that, I was getting over 1 KDR and was having so much fun.

    I'll be playing this awesome game until BF3/4 gets below $5.

    • I got BF3 in a recent humble bundle.

      • +1

        best bundle ever :)
