Good deal, my Nexus 2013 7" has also been updated to Android 4.4 now.

  • Good deal getting one, but I know I will regret it a few weeks later when theres a cheaper deal much like for the ones who bought the $299 deal. But where does it say bonus Logitech Boombox, wait until Tuesday for it to show?

    • It cost me $290 when it was released here, I have no regrets whatsoever. :-D

      • +1

I bought it for $310 on week of release.
Nexus 7 deals are posted very frequently on OzB and I'm seeing it sold for much better than what I paid.
But…I regret nothing! Because it's just that good of a device!

        • Same. Bought it for around $299 delivered from B&H when it was just released and such a good device — except seeing how the price tumbles.

        • Isn't the price tumbling a good thing?

        • +1

depends if you have already bought or not…

        • +1

@unity1 — yes definitely a good thing for buyers, except (1) sour feeling for those who bought at higher price, (2) those thinking of selling 2nd hand. I'm actually happy that the price came down, making it even easier to recommend it to others.

        • I'm amazed that the 32 GB model isn't selling for $250 yet. You'd expect the price to drop down pretty fast judging by last years model.

    • @HTID09 - you just have to trust me. I know that wouldn't work so I uploaded a photo too. And yes, waiting til Tuesday.

      • Ahh cheers for that, hope they give the boombox in red too ;)
        Has pretty decent reviews

  • Great deal.

  • +3

No TGG tablet deal is better than the one with the popcorn maker and $100 store credit for Note 8. Anyway, this is a good deal.

  • +2

Damn. Just got mobile boombox from ow last week.

I think I will get a refund once I got this deal from tgg.

    Edit:
Just found that this boombox is an old version of the speaker. It was selling for around 48$ last year from big w.

  • Thanks op. Finally found gift for parents, and myself too.lol I was thinking of giving them the RT deal or an android tablet. This deal just made it easier to decide.

  • I bought that mini boombox in Japan for around $40. The eBay prices are ridiculous. It packs a punch for its size though.

  • +2

Hasn't anyone forgotten the $10 games deal from TGG? Anyway if it is in store then shouldn't be a problem plus those received part of their orders and the $40 gift cards can put them toward this tablet.

    • Something good actually came out from that disaster game sale, i'm not so guttered anymore lol. One issue is how long till the vouchers come out because these might be sold out by then. On the other hand, i'm sure near xmas something better or like this will appear again so I guess things are looking up!

  • +2

I am not sure about this, the deal is good, but I have a feeling they will sell god knows how many units but wont be able to deliver

  • Can we do price match at office work?

    • +1

I doubt they'd allow it as it's a bundle that they don't offer.

    • That's what I'm thinking as well. Price beat at $273.60 @ Officeworks without speaker or $288 from TGG.

      • +1

Chances are OW will change their price to $288 too.

        • Yep, OW have changed their price to $288 so now you can't get the 5%

Lucky I got in early before it was changed!

  • Anyway there can be a bundle with the 3g\lte version as well?

    • +1

I'm trying to find the LTE model as well but it looks like the only store (not eBay seller) selling it is the Google Play Store. But 32GB WiFi is $288 in this deal and 32GB LTE is $439. That would still be $300 cheaper than the 32GB LTE iPad Mini (Retina Display) which sells for $750, so it seems better in comparison but I'm finding it hard to justify paying 151 bucks extra just for LTE in Nexus 7.

      • +2

Shopping Express is selling the 4G LTE atm for $399 plus $9.75 shipping. It is going to take a while for the model to be discounted. Retailers sell the model at rrp because they know OW don't carry it - no price match to siphon business away.

    • +1

Why don't buy this and get a 4g pocket wifi? You only need to have 1 data plan for both your phone and tablet? Or just save the money to get a phablet instead?

      • Really isn't convenient for pocket WiFi. I rather a device where it turns on immediately and I get WiFi, no need to wait for it to synce to the pocket wifi. And dont need a another device to hold/charge/sync….

Phablet option, but I like my nexus devices….

        • I usually use hotspot if I'm desperate to use my tablet, but again not everyone prefers or has hotspot.

  • +2

So are we gonna see lots of mini boom on eBay?

If you can sell that can make the nexus tablet even cheater

    • -3

probably.. I'll buy a mini boom from someone for $20 if they want to sell it.

  • -3

If some one doesnt want their boom box then i'll take it for $30 :)

  • +1

I must be one of the few who plans on keeping the mini boom box ;)

  • Any charge on delivery?

    • +1

      $2

      • $290 delivered is pretty good including the bonus mini Boom

  • good deal

  • Why is it $283 now? Wasn't it $288? (Not saying that's a bad thing)

    • +3

Pay less, pay cash brings it down to $283 according to their shops.

      • Nice! So do I tell them that if I pay in cash the price should be $283?

        • Ask for the Pay less, pay cash discount.

  • wait for my memo pad fhd $100 bonus credit today and buy this one tomorrow.
    thanks! A great deal!

    • Is the asus memopad quad core on sale today? Is this at tgg as well? Planning on getting one for my nephew for xmas

      • Nope, it was a deal a month ago. I am still waiting for the $100 credit and use on this Nexus 7 combo.

  • if you buy online you're probably going to risk not receiving it for a while I assume..

    • Why do you think that? Maybe cause xmas is coming.

I think its gonna be hard to find a store with stock…

  • +1

For those of you who aren't interested in the Boombox, MSY has Nexus 7 32GB for $279 (it's on their website in the Notebook prices pdf). You can pricematch it at Officeworks for $265.05. I have the Boombox. Is the Boombox worth it for $22.95 ($288 - $265.05 or the cost difference between GG and pricematched OW)? I think so. It's a great little unit and delivers powerful sound for its size. But if you think you don't need the Boombox or are worried about GG delivering the Nexus 7 in time (for a present), you have options at MSY (or Officeworks if its closer). Officeworks currently have it listed at $299.

    • OW has the nexus 2, is the one listed here the same? OP didnt say it was Nexus 2 or am I missing something.

      • +2

Yes. This is the 2nd Nexus 7, also known as Nexus 7 FHD or Nexus 7 2013. In the OP's description, it says 'ASUS Google Nexus 7 Tablet 32GB Wi-Fi (2013)' so this deal is for the new Nexus 7.

        • I don't think officeworks pricematch msy. Lots of places don't.

        • It depends on the Officeworks you go to I guess. None of the ones in the Melbourne CBD have ever turned down a pricematch for either CPL or MSY. All they do is check their website. They sometimes call MSY but not CPL because CPL has stock listed on their site now.

    • +1

I have had OW price match MSY sevreal times, but in all those cases they had the product on their on-line website

Here is the Notebook PL link
      http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/notebook.pdf

    • OW changed their price at $328 now..

      • A mate printed the MSY catalogue (link above from snuke), and got a price match from OW Brisbane CBD. Paid $265.05. Score!

  • +2

Buy the nexus 7 for myself give the boom box to g/f for xmas present and use both. LOL win win

  • +3

Link is still showing $299 with no boombox?

  • How does the battery hold up with this mini boombox?

Heard its built in battery, can't be replaced which means in 2 years time or even less (seeing is old stock), would go to the pit

  • m site shows $288 in case someone's looking to price match. It;s $328 on OW now.
Hope the sale doesn't start Tuesday night. :-S
They mostly come at night, mostly.

    • m site doesn't show the mini boombox though. Sounds like a in-store deal only?

  • just went in store and got one

    • With Mini Boombox? online store not updated hmmm

  • Castle Hill store sold out, they are taking deposit $288 with the Boombox

    • +1

After the $10 games deal saga you still wanna put deposit?

      • I didn't. a friend went to a store close to him and got it ;)

        • OP should change to instore only.

  • Do you get to choose the colour of the boombox or do they just give you a random one? :)

  • I got it for 283 at Ipswich TGG and I got to chose the colour of the boom box. They still let me pay with 28degrees MC which was handy.

  • Price changed to $288 online, but no Mini BoomBox bonus. No deal for online purchase. OP needs to change to instore only.

Also Binglee sells for $289 without Boombox (delivered or pickup), I would go there instead of MSY.

  • Picked up one at GG Belmont WA plus a red Boombox. It was the last 32G WiFi they had. That's my daughter's Christmas present sorted - sweet.

    Cheers for the heads up

  • Thanks OP, went and picked one up at TGG Darwin store, They had half a dozen of the Mini Boomboxes there, white and Orange left to choose from. Now I just need to find something from there worth $12 or more that I need, to be eligible for TRS.

  • Yay picked up one from Officeworks for the extra 5% pricematch, didn't really want to boombox anyway.. Paid $273.60..

  • I couldn't get it to work online
even tried calling TGG customer care… they couldn't do it either

so called TGG Kawana and got their last one, including the boombox… good deal… thanks OP!

  • Just bought from Cairns TGG. none of the staff knew about the special.
They have 2 left and many boombox. Quite surprised with the sound quality of the boombox.

  • Think I got the last one at castle hill. Got the white boombox.

  • I called the customer service/promotions team and the guy assured me that the bonus is also available for online. I guess you just dont get to pick the colour.

    • Online, I can't find the bonus included in the cart for delivery not sure what you meant

      http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/Asus_Google_Nexus_7%…

      Just the price $288

I honestly do not mind paying $290 for delivery of this deal, but where is it online? I think its in store only.

      • I paid online and picked up instore to ensure the boom box.

        • +1

Problem is its not available for pickup for all 3 stores near me…

        • Yeh I just read the terms and conditions, it's only for in store.

Promo Rep almost screwed me over :/ , luckily the order messed up on their end and so on record I never ordered it :p

        • haha, hence OP title should be changed. Too bad I already voted.

I got screwed thinking its online as well

  • Thanks OP, Bought one this lunch-time
TGG staff seemed to have no idea about the mini boom box offer - looking for 20 mins to find one.
Some TGG close to home didn't allow reserve and pay in-store, so paid thru paypal - no cash discount though.

  • +3

Today I went to TGG Mile End SA and they had no N7-2's. Sales-rep said they'd sold the 3 they had and were waiting for another 4 to come in next week.

I smiled and said I was heading for OW Keswick SA.

There at OW, they pricematched (-5%) the whole deal but it got better.

    They didn't stock the 'bonus' mini boombox, so they gave me the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox instead;

    http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-bluetooth-speaker/

    Total cost: $273.60

    • That's a really good deal! I definitely think you got lucky on that one!

      • I thought it was an absolute miracle, so I thanked the good Lord. :)

    • Thanks dude I did the same thing , and got a mobile boombox and nexus from officeworks chadstone

  • One more thing;

The Logitech UE Mobile Boombox uses a micro USB cable like the N7-2.

Print this page and go for it.

    • What does the other older boom box use?

      • According to YouTube, the mini boombox uses a mini USB.

  • +1

Just a PSA: If you crack the screen of a Nexus, it will no longer recognize touch inputs where it is cracked, because the digitizer is attached to the glass, not the screen. Other tablets like Samsung doesn't have this problem, but I've been burned by this particular 'feature' on my Nexus 4. Cost $150 to replace the screen.

Bottom line, be sure you buy a strong case to go with this tablet!

  • Anyone able to get this deal from gg online store with $2 postage?

Really want one but no stock nearby can pick up, working full time impossible to get it in store.

$290 with mini boom delivered will be excellent. Online still shows no bonus
