  • Digital comic books don't have the same appeal to me, I wish I had a local store I could go to. The nearest one is almost half an hours drive away or they'll ship them to me as my favorites come in but it doesn't have the same appeal… Sadly I think it's something that may be lost on the next generation as we head towards a more digital age.

  • While I miss the old dank comic book store smell, I don't miss their prices. Since moving from the floppy to the trade (and digital books) I haven't stepped into one for years. Why pay $40 for a trade when I can pay $20 delivered from Amazon?

    • I'm actually in the process of starting an online comic store with the goal of helping Australian artists get their books out there and hook people up with a cheap delivery service plus low priced comics. Likely won't deal with trades at all..

Nothing beats the real comic in hand. Reading digital seems so blah to me. With that said this is how I spend my Harvey Norman iTunes voucher deals. :)

      • You can start by getting them to charge realistic prices for books. I was at Supanova recently and some of these dudes were wanting $8 an issue for a 20 page floppy.

"Sorry who are you again?" would be my usual reaction. I've priced printing and it doesn't cost near that to print. I get that they should get paid for their work, but they need to price realistically and particularly while getting their name out. For $3 I probably would have picked up a book but not for $8.

        • $8 is a bit much. Reckon an even fiver is fair.

        • Yeah from a marketing point of view your'e more likely to get people returning for issue 2 if they've read issue one.

Publishers do it well on comixology. Give away issue 1 for free.

  • Not a regular digital comics buyer, so possibly silly question.

But aren’t these for sale for Amazon Kindle for US$3.82?

    • Most people like myself will use iTunes discounted vouchers to buy via Comixology. When you buy some paper titles (Captain America..Super Spiderman..etc) you get a digital code so you can have the print copy AND the digital version. That is if you tie your Marvel account to your comixology account.

Comixology works and is just easy to use. :) Also they always have decent discounts.

    • It seems so yes.. good catch.

Mind you everything I have is on Comixology and they do have a better comic book reader tech. So my preference is to use it when ever possible.
