Hi

I just purchased this laptop for my parents as a Xmas gift and think its good value. Its light, portable and very well priced at $398 delivered from Dell. Battery life is estimated to be 8 hours, it has touch screen and comes with Win 8.

Only down side is the 2 GB memory so I bought a 8 GB memory stick from PCCG to increase the ram, note that it only has 1 slot so don't buy 2 Ram sticks.

you can also buy a SSD HDD if you want to (make sure its 7 mm, not 9 mm SSD)

these additions are totally optional as the base unit is good for everyday use just don't expect to game on it.

    $199 netbook from 2 years ago probably has an N550 and gets 526 on Passmark

    This gets 1566 on Passmark and is right below a first-gen i5 ULV.

    I've got an old notebook I've converted to a very capable HTPC which scores lower than this.

    $399 with touchscreen, current gen CPU with good battery life.. not terrible by any means.

    I was quite surprised when looking to replace a ~2 year old laptop just how expensive laptops have become since then. What used to be a generic $500 cheapie is now up around $800. And even more expensive if you want anything other than 15.6".

  Are you sure 8GB RAM will work in this model?
  It may work but Dell doesn't list it as an option …from the Inspiron 11 3137 Specifications manual…
