Norton 360 2014 with 5 Licenses for 1 Year is currently at US$19.99 as part of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. As usual with Amazon digital software downloads you'll need to use a US address when purchasing.

Also to remove some confusion, you'll see that it says '1 User / 5 Licenses', IMHO it's badly worded on Norton's behalf but it's not tied to a single user at a time; however, it is aimed at a single household.

Following is Amazon's description:

  • Network Defense Layer Protection: Stops online threats before they can reach your computer.
  • SONAR Behavioral Protection & Live 24/7 Threat Monitoring: Stays ahead of, detects, and eliminates threats that haven't been invented yet by watching your PC for suspicious activity.
  • Threat-Removal Layer: Targets and eliminates hard-to-remove threats less sophisticated products often miss.
  • Scam Insight: Reviews a website's reputation and lets you know if it is safe to enter your personal information, so you can be confident it won?t be stolen by cybercriminals.

I tried Norton once. It detected itself as a virus and removed itself. Haven't had a problem since…

    • If only you used your power for good jv

    • After the hog on resources experiences a few years back I've refused to ever go near them again.

I'm using Comodo Internet Security + Malwarebytes (and a few others for on demand) at the moment both free and high ranking
      http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/windows-7/julaug-2…

    • Pretty sure jv reposted this. :P

  • Good price if you're looking for some antivirus software.

      free is better…

      • It's baseline. If you want free decent AV, Bitdefender free is probably one of the better ones.

    • Friends don't let friends use Norton

  • Just to clarify are they PAYING people to use Norton, or expecting people to pay for useless bloatware?

  • I.T guy here, I wouldn't touch this software with a ten foot pole. There are plenty of other alternatives that work and are free. AVG antivirus with malwarebytes anti malware will do just as good a job with less hassles.

      IT guy here also.

To me AV is very much like the old Windows VS Mac (vs Linux) debate, everyone has their own take on it and personal preference and why they like one over the other or some war story to tell about once how it did that or this. I have in the past had issues with Norton but looking at the current state of it and general feedback Symantec have made vast improvements and AVTest shows this to be the case. I've just come away from BitDefender which while better in the AVTest results I've found it to be an lackluster product with annoying quirks and self promoting product pop-ups.

How ever you look at it IMHO you should do your research (again AVTest is a good resource) and match the product against your budget and you'll probably go close to something right for you. For me at this point in time Norton is a good option.

Online Code: Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United States and who have a U.S. billing address.

Create a US billing address. Fake one if you want.

      Then you can buy it.

      And then remove your neg.

to follow on, I mentioned this on the second line of the description

I think you missed the point…

        • this item is available only to customers located in the United States and who have a U.S. billing address.

Nah. I doubt it. I've bought plenty of Amazon digital codes that say that, but still let me get the code. I put my US address (which is fake), and I get the code. It doesn't ask for delivery address.

There is no way for them to verify that you actually live there, since they don't send anything there.

        • Just to confirm I have bought this and it does work no problems whatsoever.

  • it used to be very resource heavy but now its improved alot. I've been using Norton Internet Security since they paid me to last year and its just about to expire so this is perfect for me. This time i'm actually willing to pay for it!

Note its better if you disable some of its extrafluous features like outlook/msn support.

Has this software improved in the last 4 years? I ditched it for being too resource intensive. Not willing to risk my money to find out.

    • So far it's pretty good IMO. Install was fairly painless, no sign of it being a memory or CPU hog. It's using ~16Mb of memory and no CPU when idle. Running a quick scan it's using about 100Mb of memory and 24% CPU (of an I5 4670K cpu)

  • I don't usually buy overseas items. I know everyone says to pay for them using a 28 degrees card or citibank but is there any other work around that I can do right now to avoid paying those extra fees?

    • +1

The card is free with no annual fees. Otherwise, pay the 2.5% conversion fee. It's not a lot. It amounts to a few cents. 50 cents to be exact.

I know this is Ozbargain, but you can afford that.

  • isnt this a better deal for those who dont have 4 or 5 pcs http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Norton-360-All-In-One-Security-1-… ??

    • +1

That one says version 4.0 which is very old. They stopped using version numbers and replaced it with year numbers a long time ago.

  • +1

    Not available any more. :(

  • Windows Minimum Hardware Requirements
300 MHz for Microsoft Windows XP, 1 GHz for Microsoft Windows Vista / Microsoft Windows 7 / Windows 8
    256 MB of RAM
300 MB of available hard disk space

Not sure if I can run it.

  • It's not the AV, it's the user. Google is good enough at warning you of malicious sites you click on. You should always know the sources of the files you download, and frankly every AV would detect viruses hidden in .rar files.

Just get a free lightweight AV like AVG or Windows Defender, if you still manage to get a virus through that… sell your computer or disconnect your internet.

    • That might be good enough for you, but think of your Aunt or father in law. Do you trust them to be smart at using the net?
