  • Not bad for the PS3 500 combo. However that link sends me to a page where it's $558 and temp out of stock.

    • Prices have yet to be updated as I mentioned above. They should update their stock levels when they update their prices. They will look foolish if they don't have any stock on the first day of their sale.

      • Right on soz I got trigger happy :)

        • It's showing $319 for the PS3 bundle now.

    • +5

Out of stock. Hoarded by DSE staff.

      • Company needs to put a stop to this, esp now they are traded on ASX

      • Seems like it is only available by click and collect, contrary to their T&Cs. Any way looks like most stores have stock at the moment.

      • -4

Offer was online only, so please explain to me how all Dick Smith staff have hoarded the stock.

We deal with enough ridiculous customers on a daily basis, and even more now it's coming into Christmas, so quit making accusations at a generalised level about myself and the rest of the companies staff, particularly when you've no idea on actual stock levels prior to the deal.

        Sincerely,
        Disgruntled Employee, thanks to you.

      • -1

        Absolutely disgusted with dse staff.

Don't patronise people. DSE deals always low stock and even there's stock is hidden behind counters by staff

    • If you want GTA5 and TLOU this is a good combo.
I would put both those games around $50 value, which puts the console down near $200.
500GB drive/caddy adds another $50 which means you are paying about $150 which isn't too bad for a PS3 at the moment.

All based on you wanting those two games and not wanting to upgrade the 500GB drive anytime soon.

Says it is still in stock on the site

  • Awesome, thanks OP.
I've been hanging for some Eneloop UOMO and these $20 deals seemed to have dried up with the change of ownership. (I swear they used to be occur per month when owned by Woolies!)

  • +2

I couldn't resist, another couple of lots of eneloops! Even though they are rechargeable, I can never seem to get enough of these.

  • +1

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between the Rouge and the Uomo?
Also: what is the mAh rating?
Cannot find it in the Dick Smith page.

    • +4

looking at the product codes they appear to be the same battery (HR-3UTGB8) which would mean its 2000mAh and good for 1800 cycles. The only difference would be the colours.

    • -2

Rouge is 2nd generation, Uomo is 3rd generation.
If anything, that just means that Uomos are likely to be "newer" from the factory.

    • +4

No difference other than colour. Specs below.

      Code HR-3UTGB
      Cycles  1800
      Rated  2,000mAh
      Min. 1900
      % 70%
      after 5 years
      Rel Yr Sep 2012

    • UOMO - boy colors
      ROUGE - girl colors
      ;)

  • Thanks OP.

  • Thx

  • May I please ask if anyone can recommend a good charger for the Eneloop rechargeable batteries?

    • +1
Will they charge nicely in the La Crosse Technology BC-700?

      • +3

Search previous threads. This has been bashed to death before. Id do for you but in currently out

    • +3

ok sorry I was a bit lazy
      I found the thread below
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124887

and La Crosse Technology BC-700 (AA & AAA) Battery Charger ~ $43 Delivered (Amazon.com)is the one recommended

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/122023

    • You could also get from here as another option, were good for me and others on here.

      http://www.nkon.nl/technoline-bc-700.html

      • "Your order cannot be completed at this time because there is no shipping methods available for it."

Presumably they don't ship to Oz. How on earth has this been 'good for me and others'?

        • Here, try this one.

          http://ru.nkon.nl/technoline-bc-700.html

Cheaper than Amazon too, Euro 25.20 delivered. Roughly $38 AUD at current rates

        • Thanks. Though I just remembered I was going to get some saw chains and other crap from Amazon - so the shipping overheads even out to less. Whoohoo!

    • I just use this from ebay and it works fine.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251190642745?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…

    • I use my Maha MH-C9000
      http://www.mahaenergy.com/mh-c9000/

Not sure where to get a better price though…I got mine years ago

      • You can get it here -
        http://ru.nkon.nl/r-maha-powerex-mh-c9000-charger.html

This is the memorex-branded maha. You can get the maha branded one for a bit more.

Bought recently - no issues with transaction and delivery, and started using a few days ago. Bloody brilliant. Using the "break in" program it revived (up to 2000 mAh) 4 x 2500 Sanyos (pre-Eneloop) that I haven't used for at least 6 years and were dead and wouldn't charge on any other chargers. I'm going to run the break in cycle on all my batteries now - just to get them to max / prime condition.

Such a waste buying other cheapo chargers over the years - better just to buy something decent like this.

  • Thanks OP.. Grabbed myself some UOMO's =)

  • +4

Wish they had AAA on sale as well.

  • +3

Really need Eneloop AAA deal, already stocked up too much LSD!

  • +1

    You got me at LSD.

  • A couple more packs of Eneloops for me. Happy about the free shipping, I avoid shops as much as possible this time of year.

Ended up giving up and using CC.

Then after purchase it prompts you to make an account. To http. While on a https page. /facepalm

They probably only had 5 million dollars to develop it, it's very complicated you know…

  • I can confirm I have the same problem with website

  • Quick question. Why do these Enloop deals always get such a big backing?
I mean I can go to my local store or search online for other brands for cheaper.

Is it that they have larger cycles? Or are they more powerful?

    Thanks.

    • +4

They're Low Self Discharge (LSD) rechargeables made by the people who invested the technology.
They're significantly better (in my and other's opinions) than standard rechargeable AA's.
If you can find cheaper LSD batteries, then by all means post a deal, but I suspect you can only find cheaper on the inferior standard rechargeables.

      • Thanks for the explanation.

I always thought LSD stood for something different.

      • Another question I am always wondering, why is $20 deals on this batteries a good deal, considering that it has been like that for the past 2-3 years or so?

Has the model improved but still at $20? Or is $20 still a sweet price point even after so many years?

        • +1

50% off standard price even if it's quite regular is a bargain…
As I pointed out above, it's been quite some time since the last offer (not counting to 2 for the price of one offer)

      • If you can find cheaper LSD batteries, then by all means post a deal, but I suspect you can only find cheaper on the inferior standard rechargeables.

Like these you mean? The Turnigy AA batteries are my go to if Eneloops aren't currently on special. Their AAAs are also excellent.

        • Have you tried adding postage?
Hobbyking batteries are good, but thy're regularly out of stock and their shipping cost makes them more than $20 for 8.
In my case Shipping is $10.06 for a total of $22.78

        • Have you tried adding postage?

Yes, which is why I pointed out that I buy them when the eneloops aren't on special. ;)

        • You must be desperate for batteries if you can't wait for them to come back on Special!

    • They are absolutely perfect in devices that spend lots of time off but when you need them you need them. I.e. you don't want to grab that flashlight in a power outage and find that the batteries are flat…

At this price you only have to recharge them twice to be ahead of Duracell single use batteries (even when those are on special).

  • +1

    site keeps crashing, so frustrating
slowly inching my way to complete my order.

    • +1

      Yeah, my hopes are diminishing.

      • managed to complete the order eventually, 4 tries.

    • I would not panic too much the sale goes for four days

      • +1

That's if the stock lasts yeah? In store only for the PS3. Might try for a price match at EB.

        • It doesn't say while stocks last in the T&Cs so they will probably honour all orders over the 4 days (for the batteries but probably not the PS3) but you just never know with DS.

        • You're right. I shouldn't be so picky anyway considering PS3 prices are dropping across the board. I'm just sucking myself into the ozbargain rampage.

Edit: Got my click and collect request through. Have requested a price match with EB anyway. Guess I'd better get back to work.

        • Can I know how did you request for click and collect?

  • Still waiting on my gift vouchers…does not respond to emails, noone picks up the phone. Beware about buying from this useless mob.

  • First time I'm buying Eneloop batteries. I'm just about to order a charger from Amazon; and I was wondeirng:
    1. do the batteries come charged in the pack
    2. I know it's not the best for them, but can you temproarily use a standard energizer etc charger to charge these for the time being?

      1. Yes.
      2. Why not just keep using your Energizer batteries until your new charger comes? I think you could use Eneloop batteries in an Energizer charger but I wouldn't recommend it. Besides, they come fully charged and you're given 8 of them. That should last you a good month until all the batteries are completely drained.
      1. All eneloop batteries come pre-charged. The longer they have been on the shelf, the less charge they generally have. They like being kept in cool storage too, since higher temperatures contribute to charge loss. Generally they are just like buying disposables since they come pre-charged, so there's not much to worry about there.
      2. any charger that charges Ni-Mh batteries can be used, though it's best to use a better one that terminates the charge properly and each battery getting individual charge treatment. All rechargeable batteries benefit from a good charger that charges properly and terminates at the right time.
  • Thank goodness, another Eneloop order before the end of the year. My life is almost complete. If only another ainol offer comes.

    • You can never have too many ainol offers.

      • Is this where you call for a rimshot?

  • As of April 2013, Eneloops are no longer going to be produced as "Eneloops".
They have been rebranded to Panasonic..

  • Thanks, just bought batteries and kids defiant car set which looks interesting

  • +1

Has Dick Smith ever put the AAA version on sale?

    • yes, once that I remember about 5-6 months ago I believe…. similar price to the AAs

this isn't the deal I'm referring to, but an example.

Just found out about these. Pretty much fixes most of my complains about eneloops. I wonder how these compare to Evolta rechargeables?

Wow - the cost :O I hope they get cheaper here…

      EDIT: http://item.rakuten.co.jp/oobikiyaking/4973934489387e/?s-id=…

Batteries by themselves are quite decently priced.

      • Google translate couldn't handle the page haha.
I think it works out to be about $16 or $17.
        How much for shipping though?
Do they have these in AAA?
Even if I wanted to buy this, I wouldn't know where to click haha.

        • I've purchased a fair amount through rakuten (fishing gear/ apparel) they occasionally have good shipping deals however shipping costs in general are pretty expensive. It's like an Amazon but Japanese based.

    • Pretty much fixes most of my complains about eneloops.

      Keep in mind:
"Recharge each battery up to 500 times"

The higher capacity per cell means shorter recharge life. It's a trade-off.

  • Thanks for posting. This makes up for CotD limiting their Eneloop special to 1 per customer.

  • In for a pack of 8 batteries. I swear by the eneloops

  • anyone know is there any difference between Dick Smith "Eneloop Tones 'UOMO' 8 x AA Rechargeable NiMH LSD Batteries" and the COTD "Eneloop Glitter AA Rechargeable Batteries 8-Pack" ? same price with free shipping but COTD u get extra $10 voucher for spending $25 ?

    • COTD glitter pack is only 2nd gen.

UOMO and ROUGE packs are 3rd gen, meaning they have:

      • More max cycles (1800 vs 1500).
      • Retain more charge while sitting on the shelves.
      • (Theoretically) more charge out of the box. For example, the UOMO/ROUGE packs I just got from DS were made in 04/13. Not sure about the glitter packs as I never owned them. They could be made quite recently as well so need confirmation here. I think this applies particularly for AAA packs. Some 2nd gen packs I got online were made as early as 08/10 (they are still being sold) while some 3rd gen packs are made in 11/12. So they have more charge out of the box but not too big of an issue I guess.

And lastly as you said free shipping only applies to orders over $25.

      • +1

I brought the same COTD glitter pack recently and can confirm the made is 10/2012

  • +1

Looks like DS had extended this offer till 11th December. I forget to order these over the weekend and was kicking myself for missing this. However, being an OzBargainer, I decided to check it anyway. Lo and behold, they were still available, with the page saying offer valid till 11 December. How lucky!

Mod, please update expiry date and mark this deal active.

  • the absolutely stupid thing is I have a dick smith gift card i was given which i cant use to buy these instore or online.. go figure.. you need to sharpen up your act and get with the times dick!

  • You can use the DS gift cards in store, just not online at the moment.

  • +1

    Must…resist….buying….more…..eneloops….

    • +1

I'm resisting on buying more eneloops… Going to Japan soon… gonna pick up a few packs of their top of the range and latest gen of Eneloop Pros over there.

      • oh nice one man, put me down for 2 packs :P

  • Received the Uomo and Rouge packs. They sucked me in.
Mine have 2013-6 printed on the top of the pack (June 2013 manufacture date, I presume)

All batteries in the Rouge pack have white tops except the white battery. They went to the trouble of giving a pink top to the white batteries in the Rouge pack. Attention to detail. While the Uomo batteries all have black tops.

Back of the Rouge pack shows big eneloop logo in sparkles. The Uomo pack omits the sparkles on its logo.

Both packs look better in the flesh than online. These 'limited editions' sure can suck you in…

  • Thanks OP - got 8 Rouges.

Now if only the AAAs were also on sale :)

  • I'm getting charged 4.95 delivery when I try to check out?

    • Likewise. Sydney. Looks like they've added postage on now.

      • Good news. They're available at same price with free postage from the Dick Smith ebay store.

Use this link and scroll down -http://stores.ebay.com.au/Dick-Smith-Online/_i.html?_nkw=eneloop&submit.x=0&submit.y=0

I didn't realise they had an ebay store. It popped up in a price comparison search. It looks legit and I see there have been previous Ozbargain deals from it. I've ordered a pack. It says they're available for another 22 days - let's see if that means at this price and with free delivery.

Funny - I wasn't sure I wanted to buy - really just getting them to replace AAs of other brands - but then the price went up by the delivery charge and I felt I had missed out - and now feel I've scored a deal by finding them on the ebay store and saving the $5. My wife and I earn pretty well- so the $5 (or the $25 for that matter is neither here nor there) - Typical (Oz)bargain mentality right ? A bit sad really - but we love it.

  • Can anyone recommend some battery cases ? I got 5 or so years ago - basic compact plastic ones that clip close and can hold either 4xAA or (4xAAA snugly in a different configuration - simple but clever design).

    • The Blow moulded packaging the batteries come in could be easily used as a case..
My UOMO's were delivered yesterday and the back-plate of the packaging slides on/off nicely.

    • You can get those exact cases off ebay very cheap.

      • Thanks. I see they have some nice ones - including eneloop branded ones, pretty cheap the nkon site. Not sure about postage though. Something to bundle if you're buying the maha charger from them.

  • Should they be charged before 1st use?
