Please note that this deal was posted a few days ago but was for (at the time) just Amex issued cards. This new link and deal is opened for bank issued AmEx cards.

    Regards
    Daniel

It's still a dupe though. I updated the description with the new link.

Happy for a mod to delete it but I just wanted people to not miss out on it as they might think it was restricted to just AmEx issued cards. I would have missed it myself as I had already dismissed that offer in my mind.

I'm just glad they AmEx has released this deal to the other cards.

        Regards
        Daniel

        I believe it's a dupe.
I found out this morning and roughana has updated the original link.
If it's considered a new deal, credit should go to roughana.

BTW, I tried to registered the Amex Amex card which already saved this deal before. And got the message the card has been registered. So technically it's the same deal even Amex system says that!

Thanks for posting this. From my perspective the inclusion of bank issued cards more or less makes it a new deal since I couldn't take advantage of what they were previously offering and can now. I think thats a pretty drastic change to the deals conditions.

Either way, a new post brings it to my attention where I had previously dismissed the last post and wouldn't have seen it again.

  • sorry mate but its dupe my bad

  • do u get $50 per $250 spent? Or just one $50 credit even if you spend $1000

    • One $50 credit only.

    • Max $50, if it was $50 every 250$ spent this deal would already be ozbargained. Good deal though

  • Thank you Danielh! Got my westpac Amex card registered successfully.

    • Westpac Altitude Black Amex card doesn't work.

      • It worked for me.

        • Worked for me too!

        • Then it must be my lucky day today!

  • Thanks OP, bank amex registered!

    waiting for dyson deal….

  • I was able to register my DJS store card too. No email confirmation, just the registered screen.

    • I got the email confirm though. Maybe the system is busy…. the email will take a little while to arrive.

    • Yep got an email confirmation

  • can we guy DJ giftcard and get the $50 cashback?

    • Yes

      • they have egiftcards online.. that should work as well.. anyone tried??

  • T&C doesn't say gift card is not Eligible. Thumbs up

  • Thanks OP!!!!

So if we have multiple AMEX cards, we can:
    - use them to buy $250 gift cards
    - or pay for our purchase using multiple AMEX cards
    to maximise our credit right?

    • +1

I have in the past just purchased multiple gift cards to get the credit across five AmEx cards my wife and I have between us. The last time we did it, it was for the spend $200 and get $50 back deal for the new opening of DJ Highpoint. We got the $50 x 5 back within two days.

You should also get the usual FF points (depending on your CC program) from purchasing the gift cards.

I also find these cards usefull as wedding presents. IE. crack one into a $50 and $200 gift card and just give the $200 away.

      Regards
      Daniel

Possibly won't be allowed to split payment across multiple amex cards at the cash register? Safer just to pay $250 with one amex & the rest with giftcards purchased previously on your other amex cards. Discount of $200 across $1000 spend if you have 4 amex / supplementary cards in the household. Good for ipad buying.

  • +1

good one … shame they don't stock ipads (or at least there online store doesn't).

Not sure if the 5000 registrations is used yet or not. If not, you may be able to take advantage of this today (deal expires 5th Dec).

    • DJs Sydney store stocks ipads in the Dick Smith operated concession. Same for Bondi Junction.

      • Brisbane CBD store stocks iPads too, good luck finding any stock though

        • Ask at counter. Bondi Junction had just one on display, but all sizes in wifi only & cellular models available from their stockroom when I asked. Probably keep them in a lockup.

  • Wow, all these Amex deals.. think I'll have to get one!
What's recommended? Any with no yearly fees?

    Thanks

    • +3

There are a couple of no annual fee Amex cards but they're rather lacking in point earn, insurance and other benefits.

If Qantas points is what yo're after there is the Discovery Card: https://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/frequent-flyer-ca…

      • No annual fee
      • 7500 sign up points (8000 if someone refers you)
      • $1 spent = 1 Qantas point
      • $1 spent on Qantas = 2 points

If you're after Velocity points then there's the Velocity Escape Card: https://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/velocity-rewards-…

      • No annual fee
      • No sign up bonus points
      • $1 spent = 1 Velocity point
      • $1 spent on Virgin = 2 Velocity points

Personally I have the Platinum Edge card which has an annual fee but the benefits far out-way the fee : https://www.americanexpress.com/au/content/platinum-edge-cre…

      • $195 annual fee
      • Free supplementary cards
      • 10,000 bonus points on sign up (20,000 if someone refers you!)
      • Points are stored as Amex points and can be transferred to the reward program of your choice - great flexibility
      • $1 spent = 1 Membership Reward Point
      • $1 spent at Service Stations = 2 Membership Reward Point
      • $1 spent at Grocery Stores = 3 Membership Reward Point
      • 1x Free domestic return flight yearly with Virgin (e.g. Perth <-> Sydney)

I don't think I can post referral links in comments but if you know someone who can refer you there are more sign up points on offer. Platinum Edge would definitely be my pick of the lot, even if you sold the return flight to pay for your annual fee. People sell them on eBay for ~$300

There is a Referral page for Amex cards. Add your details to that.
        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/american_express_referrals

        • Thanks! Added myself there :-)

Looks like they actually lowered the Plat Edge bonus to 15,000 for a referral but still better than 10!

      • Wow thanks for that in-depth overview, ill have to look a bit more into it but ill be sure to use your referral!

  • dont forget to register for this guys

  • problem is nothing "cheap" is worth buying from DJ..

    • +2

      They have price match policy.

      • well, don't work every time though, and they usually have bunch of excuses, especially for really "special" stuff…i give up

  • Only thing i could buy is a tablet. way more expensive though.

  • Does anyone know how to register a supplementary card? Mine keeps saying that I have already registered for the deal

    • -1

I think your supplementary card has the same number as the original card that you have registered. Amex system do not allow the same card to be registered twice.

      • +1

Supplementary card number is different to the primary cards number. You were able to register primary card & supplementary cards for this deal.

        • If the numbers are different. Some are the same.

        • You have primary & supp amex cards with same numbers? Ours are all different numbers.

        • Yes. Westpac issues supp cards with the same number.

    • Log into your DJs amex account. Click on the tab 'Add Someone To My Account'.

DJS were recently offering primary cardholders 2,000 bonus reward points for registering a supplementary card. Not sure if its still being offered. Maybe ring & ask. It was an email offer sent 2-3 weeks ago from memory…

  • Has this expired?

  • Anyone spent the $250 at DJs yet and got a confirm email that they are getting the $50 credit? I bought something for $250 today but no confirm email

    • Yes, got the confirmation email almost immediately after purchase.

  • damn, seem like all the slots are taken!!!!!! 12,500 cards??

wanted to buy something & actually went to DJ to look at it today…..

    • You mean at the registration stage, or did you already receive a confirmation e-mail?

      • the registration page, sadly! :-(
