Fishpond $10 off $20 Spend Mega-Thread

990

OK. First the caveat - regular users will all be aware of the limitations of www.fishpond.com.au. They are essentially a drop-shipping aggregator who have suppliers from all around the world. Accordingly, many of their prices are high, delivery slow and service levels sub-par - so do not rely on these deals for Christmas presents unless you are very accustomed to disappointment! That said, for the discerning shopper not in a hurry, they are often the cheapest online retailer for books, toys and a good many other hard to find items.

Given the significant margins they typically work off, they do however offer regular promos - the vast majority via a coupon code which can be entered at checkout offering $10 off a $20+ spend in the relevant department. The good news is, that you do not to have all of your $20+ spend in the relevant department - if any part of your order is from that department, the voucher will be honoured. For example, buying a $4 battery listed under homeware, as well as a $16 novel from their book section, would end up costing you $10 ($4 + $16 - $10) if you used the HOMEWARE95 code below. Through judicious use of their own search filters, it is quite easy to sort by cheapest priced items, or even to search a particular range if you are seeking a certain minimum spend, to get $10 off a host of purchases barely above $20. Particularly for books where sites like booko.com.au will let you see how their prices compare, or indeed for any other commodity where you can check comparative pricing online - it is very possible to make some great savings.

Anyway, unless otherwise stated, each of the following non-case-sensitive, non-stackable codes will give you $10 off a $20+ spend which includes a purchase of any amount from each (hopefully self-explanatory) said department;

bags65
health59
homeware95
jewel88
kitchen23
kitchen24
kitchen83
sports32
sports97
stationery65
sun78
toys165 ($10 off $40+ spend)
baby74 ($5 off $20+ spend)

Hope this is useful for someone - it's provided many cheap purchases for me over recent weeks. I've double-checked each of the codes and confirmed they are working as of original time of posting, but they are time-limited so I'm not sure when they will expire - especially if the OzB community get busy. Likewise, I'm sure there are other active codes floating around out there, so if anyone is aware of any - let me know and I'll happily edit this post so it can serve as an active list of all current voucher codes. Happy hunting!

Thank you for you informed discussion of Fishpond. I recently began using them for book purchases since some of their items were the cheapest on Booko. I haven't purchased anything from other departments.

Any idea if the codes have a defined expiry date?

    • +1

Originally, most of the voucher codes were advertised in their e-newsletters as being active for a week-long period at some stage of the past two or three months. It just seems like they never expired them at any point and as such could stop working at any point…

    • even cheaper than book depository?

      • +1

Rarely. From my experience they beat bookdepository.co.uk on about 1 in every 10 titles. And then about just as often they will be close enough (ie less than 10% more expensive) to still make it considerably cheaper after application of the $10 off voucher.

From much practice, the easiest way I've found to compare book prices and hence profit from these codes, is to set up an account and save every book you're looking at in the default list in booko. Since the prices on fishpond change often and by significant amounts, keeping a regular eye on your list in booko will alert you to titles, prices and times when you can make best usage of these codes.

    toys165 requires $40 min spend

    • Cheers knackers - will amend main post.

  • anything good which is cheap? I have one item to buy but it's $19.99. Wish they'd just charge me the 1 cent extra.

    • +2

When searching for cheap items just to get you over the $20 minimum spend, I've had most success with stationery, batteries (watch, motherboard etc search CR2016, cr2025, lr44) or anything from the kitchen dept (spoons, cookie cutters, moulds), but you'll struggle to find much under $4 for individual shipped items.

As their searches default sort to "most popular" and for some reason include vaguely related items from departments other than the ones you are searching, be sure to change the sort to "by lowest" as it filters out a lot of the garbage and at least gives you mostly cheap items at the top of your list.

"They mostly come at night…". Sorry.

Edit - I should also point out that quite often there are multiple suppliers of the same item, so be sure to expand your search to see if there are any other listings for the same item at a greater (or lesser!) price. This can be handy when you're trying to get just over that $20 qualifying spend.

      • Yeah, I think the $4 battery is the cheapest. Thanks op!!

Glad to hear it - thanks for the vote! You've reminded me of some my best work in the stationery category, landing a dozen sharpie permanent markers for under $5 - before the $10 off.

Just searching for it now; it's long gone, but I found the following for $4.51 before the $10 off, meaning you could find another $15.49 worth of books or whatever, and only pay $10 in total plus get a dozen markers into the bargain.

Took me less than a minute. Looked at homeware and sorted by price. Added the $4 batteries to my cart and then bought the cd that I was after ($17.14). Can't complain about that for a $6 saving . Thanks op

Does this work for buying gift vouchers?

  • I've bought a few sets of Lego when on sale, even cheaper with codes!

Bah if only there was one for the beauty category

  • any code for console games?
    Thanks

    • As per what OP stated. Just buy something cheap from another department then use the relevant code, so if you buy those cheap $4 batteries, you are essentially getting $6 off on a game (which is what I did).

      • Thank you.

  • Awesome description, thank you!

Thanks to all for the kind words and positive votes - glad someone is getting some value out of the deals.

In particular Darlene39, if only because after looking at the avatars of everyone who +ve voted, I'm convinced that given the chance, the combination of you and I would likely have the best looking children… ;-)

    • Thanks for posting this OP. I managed to buy 2 Ken Follett books and a notebook, for $15, minus $3 of store credit that I had in my account = $12. Each item is being shipped individually (two from the USA), not sure how they are going to profit from this :S

Got Game of Thrones Season 1 on Blu Ray + Bostik Blu Stick 35 grams for $23.06.

Thank you OP. Been wanting to get Season 1 on Blu Ray for ages.

  • Any of the code provided can be used for books only? Or need to combine with one of the department as listed in the code?

    • None for books only. You need to combine. You can find cheap things like notepads, pens, blutack, batteries etc.

    Thanks op.
Got a text book and couple of boxes of plaster (bandages).
Was bloody hard finding the cheap priced item.

  • +1

+1 for the great effort. There are some pretty reasonably priced things on there, especially after the discount.

But just a warning for everyone that you need to compare prices carefully before buying, here's an example.
These were on sale at Aldi for around $9 each last week. (Sorry can't find the link to the catalogue).

    But on Fishpond………
