Not sure which one I want but now I'm leaning towards the LG optimus g pro for the price and portability as the Sony is almost in the 7 inch tablet territory.

  • Ive seen the Z ultra and i agree that thing is just too big.
and this is comeingg from a person who's last smartphone was a 6.1" device.
    even the z ultra dwarfed
id say go for the G pro not too large and that looks like a great price.

    • Yes I think I will go for Optimus G Pro as I don't use Man bags, so the ultra in the pocket might be a problem.

6.4"!? Is that a phone-BOOK in your pocket?

    very cheap

The Ultra Z is large but it is also wafer thin. I think I read its the thinnest on the market. Its also a hell of a phone. I was seriously considering it before I went with Note 3 (cos I wanted Gear as well)

Writing this from z ultra while in bathtub. My rubber duck says hello. Waterproof ftw!

  • +1

Its a shame the Z Ultra has such a large bevel/border - something like an LG G2 6.4" would be more workable, really good specs though.

Totally agree. If the bezel was smaller Id be all over it. Another disappointment is the camera has no flash.

  • good price for the G pro.. and CM11 has just been released too!

  • The G Pro is an excellent phone. I brought my wife one several months ago, directly from China but sourced from Korea. Rooted and debloated. Never crash once as far as I know. Excellent software. The LG's G Memo function tries to mimics the Samsung G Note's pen function, although you uses the finger instead of the pen. Still pretty good. Excellent hardware for the price even when purchased several months ago.

Unfortunately, LG never intended to sell the phone outside their market. Else it would be a very popular phone here.

    I've had a G Pro for about 4 months.

    Awesome phone, absolutely love it.

It's the first Android I've had that truly never skips a beat. Been running CM11 Kit Kat for a few days and it's seriously smooth. The screen is beautiful and natural (my preference over hyper-saturated displays from samsung, etc) and even my IOS/WP8 friends can't deny it's an epic device. Vodafone 4G is faster than I ever expected, you don't even see a progress bar when downloading apps, it just blips for a microsecond.

My only criticism is the back panel is a little on the slippery side and I've dropped this thing more than any other device.

I dont think I need bigger, but I'll never go smaller again…

I paid $330 on ebay at the time (used but mint condition), plus $55 for a 64Gb sd-card. 96Gb flagship for under $400, not bad!

  • How long do you reckon they will take for shipping?

  • Bought it during the sale event on ebay few weeks back

Whoever design this phone must think for the future where aliens might be using it!!

    But a fine phone indeed.

  • LG Optimus Pro not compatible with Telstra Next G

  • i notice it says 4.1 … whats LG like on the update front?

  • Can you use 3G sim on this LG Optimus Pro?

  • The Ultra Z is great phone. Waterproof, slim etc. Yes, the bezel is large but I suspect they needed more room to accommodate a battery that won't die after 5 hours.

Screen-size aside, the specs on the Ultra Z are also one up on the LG. Snapdragon 800 vs 600. Adreno 330 vs 320.

Also, the Ultra Z has been promised an official KitKat update by Sony (Google it). Not sure about the G Pro.

I'm not sure that I could live with the Ultra Z as a daily driver but it makes a great second phone for surfing, gaming, ebook reading etc.

    PS: Good prices on both.

  • I have been using the Ultra for few months. It is the first non-physical keyboard phone I can type on comfortably. It is really not that big to me, since it is slim, it can still fir in my pocket without any bit sticking out. The only disadvantage of the Ultra compare to the G Pro, is the non-removable battery. I used to have a G Pro before the ultra, the G Pro came with 2 batteries and a desktop charger, I can just quickly swap batteries and good to go for another day. but keep in mind that the Ultra has the 850Mhz band, but the G Pro only have 2100 and 900 Mhz band.

This is a great deal compared to what I paid only last week. The Ultra Z is a great phone, yes slightly big indeed.

I purchased mine $580 including delivery last week - it was meant as a gift but they already had one. I'm actually putting it up for sale (brand new unopened box), matching Kogan's price. You are welcome to look in the Classifieds section if you are interested in buying the same deal but without Kogan's long delivery time. (I understand linking to personal ads is frowned upon, so you will need to search in the Classifieds yourself, my apologies)

  • Has anyone's been shipped yet? =(
