As part of GoG.com's 2013 DRM-Free Winter Sale, GoG.com is offering Fallout Collection (1,2,Tactics) for FREE for 2 days.

Note 1: If you have one or more of these already, select ony the games you do not have for it to work.

    I doubt that the 410 clicks (count as of 3:12 am 13/12/2013) from ozbargain caused the problem.
    
    Annoyed that I got Fallout a few months ago and now they won't allow me to get the bundle because I already own one of the games.

      You can just delete the games you already own from the shopping cart before you "buy" the game(s). That's what I did to get Fallout Tactics. (I already own Fallout 1/2)

      Weird… They might have changed it because I have fallout as well and it still let me buy bundle - but it would only let me send it as a gift to myself, not add directly to my library. I haven't tried to redeem it yet maybe that's where I'll run into the issue..

Interesting coincidence, as I was just downloading some Fallout 3 mods tonight, like 20th Centuary weapons for FWE, and Mothership Zeta Crew. Fallout 3 won't be free though until FO4 comes out. Apocalypse Weapons is another great firearm mod but the 'nazis' on the nexus removed it, and there isn't a FWE compatability patch so one has to edit the weapon data to make the weapons useful. (If you don't understand what I am saying, don't worry.)

Fallout 1 has been free in the past. Also Fallout 1 says it has been updated since I last grabbed it.

Web site playing up at the moment. Looks like its overloaded with people grabbing these free games. As long as you manage to add the free games to your collection and checkout before the deal expires, you can download the games at any later time when the system is not so busy.

Note that the licencing on Fallout is changing and GOG probably won't be able to sell it next year, so I guess this is their answer to that. If you want it get it now (obviously).

  Probably try fallout 2 if anything. Then if you like that go back to 1. Tactics is a bit random, a very different game.

  Unlike FO1/2 you probably only want the high res mod. FO1 in particular has a lot of game breaking bugs if you don't use unofficial patches.

  No, GOG is a competitor to steam. The big difference is you don't need to run any GOG software, you can just download, install and run the games you aquire.

      The only drawbacks to GoG is that a lot of companies refuse to release DRMless games, and I don't think GoG run multiplayer servers. Some might also like the fact that GoG doesn't automatically foist updates on you like Steam does. No Steam achievements but hardly a deal breaker.

      What do you mean by 'best'? Performance is hardly an issue on a current machine so the only question is of issues running/installing. Most of the games in the list run on dosbox, so it makes no difference. some games (like fallout) may have odd issues with Windows 8, but I can't say either way.

For those who've installed Fallout 2:

Once you have quit the game and try launch it again, you might get an error, saying cannot launch fallout.exe.

What you do is:

Right click on it

Properties

Advance

tick Run as administrator!

If you go on the GOG forum ppl will tell you to download a patch, but you don't need to. These steps worked for me :)

Letting anyone with an android tablet know that all three fallout games in in this offer can be emulated on Android. There is a free method which requires some more steps or a second method requiring DosBox Turbo (paid app) but is much easier and more stable.
If there is any interest I'll search for, and post the links I found.

This was posted 10 years 4 months 12 days ago, and might be an out-dated deal.
