  • Bought one as I like the colour

  • will this protect me from identity theft?

    • how would a wallet protect you from identity theft in the first place?

      • If the metal stops people from reading the RFID tags in your cards, it could stop ID theft. My understanding is that it will only make the signal a bit weaker and so will not provide complete protection, but still.

        • that assumes someone could read your RFID tags (rediculously close proximity) and obtain useful information from them….
but plenty of money being made by tinfoil hat saleseman on that basis

        • Personally I bought one for precisely the opposite reason. My work has proximity locks on door, which relock too quickly to put stuff back into my pocket. I used to be able to rub the sensor with my hip to open the door, but now all my proximity cards interfere. With any luck getting through doors won't be a race against time anymore. :P

    • Only if you stick it in the thief's eye (or a$$) at the time ;-)

  • I read a review of whether these sort of things protect you and the answer is no.

    this one looks better: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Waterproof-Business-ID-Credit-Car…

No one would pick it can hold credit cards :)

Seriously though this one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Deluxe-Aluma-Wallet-Credit-Card-H… or http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Deluxe-Aluma-Wallet-Credit-Card-H… seem to be the same for $1.49 inc post (save $1.01)

    • You are legendary! The wife also says thank you.

    • Good work vanleeuwen … just bought one of your $1.49 bargains … hehe

    • Thanks. Ordered 4 different colours. Not sure how to combine those transactions in eBay though hopefully they don't all arrive separately lol

  • Great deal! Too bad it's not big enough for a passport, I guess I'll have to continue using aluminium foil and looking like a complete weirdo at airports.

    • exactly what are you wrapping your passport in aluminium foil to protect it from?

      • -1

Identity theft. We've all seen card skimming devices installed over ATMs to steal the data inside of a card. It's only a matter of time before these 'gangs' go high-tech with RFID electronic readers skimming your RFID enabled passport or Paywave mastercard. Scary thing is you don't have to take it out of your pocket for this to occur!

        • much easier (if you believe its possible) is to just put a couple of RFID devices together… tin foil hat threat aborted

also, passport RFID info is encrypted (pretty sure)..brute forcing this during the short period of time someone would be next to your passport seems very unlikely

  • I've wanted to get one of these before to see if I can easily gut it and use it as a cigarette holder.

If not I'll probably just use it for it's intended purpose.
