Do not use this to charge unprotected cells. This charger looks dodgy as heck and could cause a lithium battery explosion — basically a death trap. It looks like it was made with zero adherence to safety standards — definitely not something you want to stick into a socket that delivers 220 volts.

Consider buying a Nitecore i2 ($20 AUD) or i4 ($31 AUD) from eBay, these aren't terribly expensive and are far better quality than the unknown chinese brands.

Here is a teardown and a quick review for the technical minded

For a list of recommended LI-ION chargers, see the Flashlight Wiki page

I'll say it again — do not buy cheap power supplies. Anything power related — lithium battery chargers like this one, super-budget ATX PSU's like SHAWs, counterfeit Apple USB chargers — avoid all of these.

    • +1 for the NiteCores.

Good charger for Li-ion batteries, also charges NiMH and NiCD (with all the eneloop deals on OzB) which alot of Li-ion chargers don't do.

    • I'm in the market for a 18650 battery and charger to go with a bike head lamp I bought from Tmart. I didn't realise it took larger sized batteries. Any suggestions?

  • I've had too many cheap USB chargers explode or burn out to trust this.

Also, giving my credit card number to a Russian website seems like a bad idea.

    • tmart.ru is just the russian language version of tmart.com

      it's a HK website.

  • I have one like this. It charges at a constant 4.19v
