  • Bugger it!

I bought this camera about two weeks ago at JB for $524… Still, it was a good price then and a VERY good price now, I've been very happy with it so far. Haven't pushed it in low light too much (lens doesn't help much there anyway), but you can get brilliantly detailed photos in good light.

If anyone has been thinking about taking the plunge on a DSLR I can highly recommend jumping on this.

    • Good to know. I have been wondering if I should wait for a good price on the D3200 (probably at a very good price now!) or wait for a good price on the Pentax K30… The waterproof case on the Pentax is a great advantage.

  • This is a great deal. If you need a camera like this and even for $600+, I recommend. Been using a D3100 and it is great for general use and nice shots.

  • Tempted to take the plunge on this. Want to replace my super old Powershot SX100 IS, and been tossing up between another compact or try a DSLR. What does this lens equate to roughly in Optical zoom language? I highly doubt I'd be buying another lense any time soon, but like the megapixel value this offers over compacts.

  • Okay I did something potentially very stupid. I purchased this very same camera from JB hifi and had it price matched with big w price of $498 late Christmas Eve. The guy was being so difficult about price matching (down from usual price of $524 so only $26 difference but he said lowest price he could offer me was $500).

Well then I woke up today and discovered the massive $55 drop in less than 12 hours. On a whim I bought another one for $455 with delivery with hopes of returning the first one which I still haven't opened and I have the original receipt.

Now I'm worried they might not return it because they apparently have a terribly fussy returns policy. What are your thoughts? Do you think I have a chance of getting a refund on a new and unopened product? I'm panicking that I will be stuck with two cameras when even purchasing the first one was a luxury for me so definitely cannot afford to lose another $455. Any advice??

Nah you'll be right mate. I returned a GPS to JB cos my missus didn't like the screen. They accepted it without any fuss.
