This seems to be one of the rare laptops around now with concave keyboard keys (before nearly every manufacturer decided to make them basically flat, or flatter).

To me, these are far more comfortable to type on (in my opinion). Though I'm not crazy about the lack of dedicated numpad, it's normal for this screen size.

    • Is this laptop worth 400 dollars since its model is 2 years old

      • +1

        Yes

        • It is out of stock in my region before I could place an order…LOL

    • +2

Yes one of the last ThinkPad with proper keys. No matter how good they made those chiclet keyboards they are just not the same.

      • I still love my Dell Inspiron 640m for this reason

        • Dell Inspiron's keyboards are actually pretty bad. My wife's old Inspiron 1420 had very filmsy feel. However my old Dell Latitude D600 & D630 have great keyboard so is my ThinkPad T410. Also have a newer ThinkPad S430 at home with chiclet and that was bad. They also removed the 7th row and made function keys tiny. My poor wife is now using that one :P

        • The 1420 is much newer than mine, at least a generation. The 640m shared the keyboard with the Latitudes you are talking about (i've had to replace a couple for others with the same machine, mainly due to abuse). My keyboard has seen so much use that the keys look polished, and it's been around the world a couple of times. I've bought myself about 4 laptops since this one and I keep going back to it and selling the others… I'm just too attached and it flies with the SSD I installed. The latest was the TF810c on sale for $350, I got it so I could just have one device for everything, but I still return to my Inspiron. The fact that it is a tablet, laptop, runs W8 (which I do like), is light, doesn't heat up, has a touch screen, a nice leather cover and and a propert stylus, and lasts 15 hours on a charge, and I still can't make the jump to it. I think I need help.

The good thing about wives is that they don't normally notice that sort of stuff, it's anal IT people like us that are pining over small but not necessarily irrelevant parts of the computing experience that are often overlooked by others. I think it's called OCD… :-)

      • Still got my T420 for this reason :P

Great keyboard, almost as good as my mechanical desktop ones and Sandy Bridge still has quite a bit of oomph.

      • I hate chiclet keyboard with passion :(
It's so easy for something small to get stuck under the keys plus the feel is just not right.

  • looking at http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php, i5-2450M CPU scores 3451, today on lenovo's site, highend i5 X1 Carbon uses i5-3427U, which scores 3589 on the cpubenchmark, while it costs $1486 (sure it has better screen, lighter, etc). X240 which has a similar size to this deal comes with i5-4200U (scores 3358) and costs $1359.

Finally, install a ssd driver and this thing flies …

This is a good deal, bought one.

  • cant buy anymore. probably there was 10 in stock :)

  • +1

    that was quick, no stock

    • Maybe, you could give them a call since the website says:

  • +1

This is my first posted deal with 10 green plus and over 500 clicks! I feel great!

  • Missed out :-(

    • An item in your cart cannot be ordered online to be delivered to your postcode. Please phone 1300 MY DESK (1300 693 375) for a quote on the delivery of this item.

      have you tried calling them?

  • Good deal, lol but judging by calling and having the guy ask me, wait is this about the lenovo… yeah ozbargained indeed

    • +2

I called and it is confirmed out of stock. The reason the item is still visible on their system is that there are still two units but both are committed to orders. So the "ozbargaining" of this item seems to only be the last two units were snapped up.

  • Brilliant business grade laptop. Fantastic deal for $800, let alone $400 The only down side is the slightly annoying trackpad.

    • +4

I have two. the trackpad is a bit annoying but the trackpoint is perfect.

  • I've got this with an SSD installed. Brilliant machine!

  • Yeah I have slightly older one, and I put a SSD in it about 9 months ago when SSD was on sale.
It made a MASSIVE difference!! Like unless you want to game, which I use my gaming PC for, this thing is awesome as a laptop. Light. Heaps of power for most things. Good battery life. Good quality build etc

I had one of the first Lenovo 12" laptops when they were IBM and not widescreen. The early Centrino days. That laptop lasted me years, and although it was slow due to the fast changing IT world(this was before dual core existed) which made it age faster, it ended up being the power plug connector that was the death of it. The laptop itself was complety fine.
And my current one is about 4 years old and it runs Windows 7 as smooth as the new ones, especially with SSD. I haven't tried Windows 8 yet, but I'd say it would be fine.

And also, with a display port, these things can run XBMC and output all the HD audio stuff etc. If you wanted to use it for media.

  • +2

If you did buy this don't forget to get your $100 cash-back!

  • How many of these did Aust Post have available? It seems like the had a tiny amount (although then again, the power of Ozbargain…).

And the Lenovo e520 also are sold out
