50% off Pre-Paid SIM's (Optus, Vodafone, Telstra) @ David Jones

160

Was just in David Jones at Doncaster Shoppingtown and noticed a decent deal.

50% off all pre-paid sim and recharge kits. They had Optus, Vodafone and TElstra.

I took a picture of the glass case so everyone could window shop before heading down to their local David Jones.

  • No Virgin prepaid? :(

  • did it include amaysim?

    • It didnt say it excluded any particular kits.. so i would assume any they have are 50% off.. I know the pic isn't the best to show which ones are in stock.. next time ill make sure to take a full pic.. not sure how i took such a shocking pic. lol

  • Can anyone shed some light on the different price colours for the $40 boost? I am only interested in a recharge, actually, I might head down now :P

    • To answer my own question for the benefit of others, some google image searching suggests the Green triangle is Starter and Black is recharge, woohoo!

EDIT: Wrong! The Blue triangle is for Micro Sim. But I couldn't resist and will carry a second phone for a month for the discount. Also used ING so $19 :)

  • is this across the country? I am at sydney.

    • It didn't say it was store specific so i imagine its AUS wide

    • confirmed price at Brisbane City DJ's, should be Australia wide…

    • great, thanks

  • Does this mean $1 Telstra and Optus sims so one can sign up for their $10 movie ticket deals?

    • yep, as long as you have a telstra number, you can sign up for the $10 movie ticket.

  • It does seem to be everywhere - but doesn't mean they'll have stock.

Just had very frustrating experience at DJs in Sydney. They very unhelpful man just said "no" then when I pressed he looked up the stock (via public internet) at …. Dick Smith (no discount there).

Edit: I was after Telstra nano sim

  • I got the same thing with DJ at Burwood, Sydney - they had absolutely no idea. waited almost 30min.
Said that Dick smiths handle this stuff now, they checked stock in my local store, told me they had 2 optus cards.
Drove there and was told there is no discount on any of these.
Called back and the new guy was even worse.
Nice on DJ, top customer service considering the price points. Then they wonder why we shop online, thanks Harvey ….

  • Q: If I buy the Optus “SIM + $30 recharge”, could I discard the Sim and recharge my existing Optus Sim with the $30 credit? Thx in advance. :)

  • NO-way hosay, as you already exist as a Customer they ALL will treat you twice as badly, for being pre existing! I did recently try being rather clever to 'port' my number intracarrier within voda, to that freshly loaded 30.00-starter Sim - the form is submitted, however there is no effective ultimate flow of credit to update the old account/ Sim. Best we may plan on is the unflattering, standard 20%-off usual recharge, while remembering it has been years since Woolies mobile had their 1/2 price spectacular Sim+recharge deal.

Having said this, I understand some invoke a strategy to their alternating b/w Amaysim ⇔ +Boost Unlimited/ 50%, and so back & forth. I can grasp the math how such may work, to balance ie 20.oo- each spend, but in practice ?..

PROvided you can live with a finite sum of minutes, or better yet, have not a need to buying Air (VoIP telephony might be so liberating as a G-mail address were to mail)! I recently discovered VODA might have the actual deal to bust the cartel; if not for coverage, then for internet..$450 translates to "4G w/ 10.8 GB". - For we keeping score, this offer {15.00, 1.4$GB}, is now WAY advanced of WOW value.

  • A measure of due diligence & given this offer may prove legit across AU. It is still only a single retailer - DJ. can we professionals ready ourselves to go the hard route, Price mirror this thru those conducive policies JB>HN>TGG>OW: BEFOREHAND. 'Least I can do before buying six'

  • Confirmed :-) Told Australia wide.
All SIMs half price. On sale until 14/1
    But little stock (e.g. 2 each of Boost: $2, $4O, $40 micro)

Bought last 2 $40 Boost for $20 (paid with 2 $20 Westfield cards bought through Scoopon for $10 each ;-)

    (Carindale, Brissie)
It's a Dick Smith concession within DJs, within a Westfield.

  • Well didn't this turn out to be a fruitless stock-up on stingy THursday.
:dj, jb, bigw, target, dse, VF, ow, hn, tgg, kmart .. all fruitless.
Either cleared out of $30 voda, telstra dealer, or outside of parameter for a price match.

Will hold on to the $20 X2 gift cards and just say, do not waste your time. (as @2/01+)

While I have something like $1350 of flexible credit across 3 cards, wait for voda to get serious and bring this back through ordinary Woolies/ Coles/ bigW supply channels.
