which one is it? 7 May 2024 or 10 November 2024.

They definitely did not read what they wrote!

      • The way I read it you have to "purchase" it by 7 May and then "activate" it by 10 November.

      • Is it for new customer only?

    • *before

  • Damn confusing now which one is true?

Currently on this prepaid plan and network - absolutely horrid service in western Sydney and throughout all of Sydney. Have been troubleshooting with Vodafone for the past few months to no avail. Thinking about contacting the Telecom ombudsman to get a full refund.

For me, coming from boost (Telstra wholesale network) was absolutely not worth it. Expensive lesson learned.

    • Yeah, service in the CBD is atrocious from my experience. 0.01mbps download

    • I'm on a postpaid plan and similar experience as well. Only thing that reasonably works is turning off 5G and switching to 4G.

How does the telephone ombudsman thing work? Would be interesting to hear from people who have tried contacting them.

Step 1: Spend hours on the phone with 1555 customer service getting absolutely nowhere. They will advise you to switch off 5G, blame tower upgrades, say system shows no issues, someone will call you back that never does etc.
Step 2: Submit a formal complaint that you are not getting the service you pay for here: https://www.tioonline.com.au/consumers/new/
Step 3: Get a TIO referral number in the format 2024-0X-0XXXX
Step 4: Contact Vodafine resolutions team on 1300 365 506 quoting above referral number.
Step 5: Get assigned a case manager that will repeat much of Step 1 "with more detailed tools".
Step 6: Get referred to their 'Engineering team' to undertake specific tests on your line.
Step 7: Get offered 2 months credit to continue 'testing' the service to see if it improves.
Step 8: Agree a contract exit with the rep without paying any early termination fees or penalties.

Every few weeks you'll get a 'case health check' e-mail asking if everything is now resolved and can be closed - make sure you reply back saying NO.

Expect process to take minimum 3-4 months. TIO does nothing, it's just a negative KPI that encourages them to resolve the case amicably so it doesn't affect their total score.

        • Vodafone get charged a fee by the TIO per complaint

    • Then I better stick with Coles Optus, lucky they still let us recharge with our current old plan

    • You could move to eastern Sydney

Stop sucking up the 5g internet goodness and leave some for others.

    • Seriously! God forbid you want to use the service in a slightly crowded area (a bus) close to the CBD

  • I've been on this deal since January, live in NW metro Sydney (Hills Area). The Vodafone signal at best is awful at home, at worst none, although I'm in a Vodafone 5G coverage area. However, so many other locations within Sydney are hit n miss.
I am about to go to Boost, and attempt a refund from Vodafone, but the customer service is about as good as their signal for me.
I may have to go to ombudsman also for partial refund.
This is my personal experience, sharing for information for those considering this deal.

  • Bought what I think is the same 'plan' but didn't activate it at the time for the extra data on offer at the time, does that mean if I activate now by the new bonus data date I'll get the additional data?

  • with Boost atm. Will I regret if moving to voda?

    • +4

I have bad experience with voda. I can suggest you stick with boost.

    • +1

Yes, in all likelihood a move to Vodafone will be a downgrade in service.

  • +1

Don't do it… I got the pack back in November under a similar deal and the reception is trash

Tried to get it resolved through customer care but no luck, they told me everything is fine in my area (central coast, nsw)

I'll be switching back to boost as soon as possible

  • Seems like everyone on Vodafone is having awful experiences.

Would this be the same for kogan mobile too?

    • +3

Kogan mobile uses the Vodafone network so expect the same level of service.

  • +1

Tried Voda for a month , coming from Telstra. I’m near sydney CBD is dogshit at best. Some areas in the cbd near Wynyard station I got like 2 bars.

Switched back to Telstra straight away

  • +1

If you want to actually use your phone, don't get Vodafone in Sydney

  • +1

I get about 160Mbps on this versus 280Mbps on my full Telstra 5G. Upload is the same.

One equates to $8p/m and one equates to $55p/m. I know which I'd rather stick to.

  • A lot of negative experiences from Sydney.
Anyone outside NSW having similar issues?

I'm with Kogan which uses Voda and it isn't too bad.
My year finishes mid-May so need to find another prepaid provider if anyone has any suggestions/found any deals?

    • Boost - look on eBay or https://luckymobile.com.au/mobile-plus/ for a discounted 12 month prepaid plan. I hate Telstra with a passion but unfortunately if you want the most consistent coverage for all/most occasions that's the network you need to choose.

Vodafone on the other hand is apparently good enough to keep a 13 year old happy around the Brookwater/Augustine Heights area Qld 4300.

Vodafone 4G reception around Melbourne has been bad for over 2 years, cannot recommend, go Optus or Telstra,

    Yes that's right.

  • +2

Topcashback is offering 15% cashback, so you should get approximately $20 cashback too.

  • Middle ring suburb in Melbourne and I get 4 of 5 bars on 5G and a near faultless service with Voda.
Telstra on the other hand is stuck on 4G.

So Vodafone is my preferred network.

  • My wife is currently on Vodafone and I would advise anyone to stay away from Vodafone unless you like the idea of constantly losing internet access.
What little money you save is not worth it.

    • +2

all depends on where you are.

      • +1

As with anything ofcourse it depends on your situation but on average Vodafone reception is crap for more people than it is for Telstra/Optus.

    • Actually, Vodafone works better in my area than Telstra, so it really depends on your location and where you use your device :)

  • +1

Another one currently being offered by amaysim is 200 GB 12 Months for $175 ( with $60 Cashback= $115)..

Unless you have preference for any particular network..

  • I anyone else able to add the prepaid plan to their cart?

  • okg seems everyone hates voda it mostly works fine for me lol at melb cbd areas and or outside and or in the creek in wydnham park and at home lmfaooo… it's fine for me mostly inner melb suburbs

  • Any experiences around Qld people would be willing to share?

    • it works good in Brisbane CBD and suburbs around sunnybank and browns plains, but it only has 4G signal inside shopping malls, which performs worse than Telstra network.

    • +2

I have no issues in Brisbane CBD and southern areas including sunnybank and sunnybank hills etc.

    • My wife uses it around Brisbane CBD and inner city suburbs and it's rubbish.

  • It's been a very long time since I was on VF. I'm considering it for my kids. What's the real-life coverage like in Melbourne pls?

  • Can i receive text messages overseas with this.
