Yeah they can do 7.1 analogue out if you have an old Amp, also decode DTS-MA (Master audio) which the BDPS350 Can't.

      Daniel.

  • Yeah the blu-ray is a good price (its $250 less than Sony sells online).
Are the 3 blu-ray discs the ones you have in store or by redemption?

    • They are in the box!

      • The Patriot
      • GhostRider
      • Starship Troopers 3

      Daniel.

      • Thanks..they are all great movies too so adds to the bargain

Keep the good deals coming Daniel, I see you post them on here for the benefit of members - thanks for taking the time to do that

Here is a bit of a philosophical question for you…being that is it better to get a playstation 3 or a dedicated blu-ray player?
I guess the normal argument is that with a PS3 you get a "games console" as well, but aside from that, as for most that ask this question they already have an Xbox 360.
I am sure there are posts online about it, but as a Sony product "expert" what would your answer be?
        Thanks

    Hey Jock Strap,

It depends on your desired use and computer skills.

If you just plan on buying blu-rays you should get the standalone player. The standalone players generally do a better job on audio. The PS3 can be a bit noisy when the fan switches on to cool the unit. I own a PS3 and I love it, but sometimes the fan noise gets to me.

On that note, if you like games and have a home network, you can very easily enjoy the games, especially on a HD tv, and you can setup a media streaming function, so most music or videos on your pc can be played through your PS3. I say most because certain files won't play, but it boils down to what you want to get out of it.

Most people say that the gaming consoles these days are too expensive, but most media centres cost around the same price anyway and they aren't gaming consoles.

    • Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • Dan, can you do anything for me on the Alpha A300? Cheapest I've found it is $1089 at Teds for the twin kit
