Customer Service at Harvey Norman

I submitted an online order for a MS Surface tablet after looking at the deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/124568 on 26/12. After multiple calls to the customer service call center, which kept me waiting for a long time if I held, and took hours to call me back if I used that option, I was left clueless as to what had happened to my order. I may add that once or twice I may have received a call back from HN but I was unable to attend the call. The only times I was able to get in touch with a rep I was told that I would know later in the day what happened. This was yesterday. This experience was terribly frustrating because the call center did not have access to the relevant information readily.

Today using LiveChat (which has much better service) I was able to connect to a rep online. He had one of the nearby store persons call me only to inform me that the tablet I had ordered was out of stock and HN was expecting more stock at the end of the month.

I have asked for a refund but the problem is that the tablet I ordered was also on sale for the same price at JB Hi- Fi. Had I known that HN would be unable to deliver the product, I would have gotten the tablet from JB Hi-Fi. As you know, this was a limited time offer deal and has now expired. So I am left with no tablet and already about 10 days have passed.

Adding to my concern is that my old laptop screen got damaged and I am unable to use it without causing headaches, which is why I needed the tablet in an emergency 10 days ago. But now I have no tablet and no deal.

To sum up, the experience with HN has been upsetting and even though I am not entirely blameless, I feel hard done. I have written to HN online regarding this. Your thoughts if there is anything more to be done?

HN are good at advertising. They make you think they are up to standard with JB, the good guys, jay car, big w, dick smith, office works.

Harvey Norman are a piece of sh*t. Boycott them before they screw you over again.

I would agree as well, I boycotted Harvey Norman now…they're absolutely rubbish and wonder how the are in business still after scamming everyone…had a similar thing as OP happen to me with a high-end DSLR camera purchase with Hardly Normal!

Lol be wary of bagging out a retailers customer service on here….I tried it once and got bagged out by some strange people..

but good on you for voicing your experience.

that maybe what some retailers need to lift their game :)

been a lot of this going around

the problem is one they refund your money, thats it

i realise that people have been inconvenienced but what do you expect them to do?

at best they give you a raincheck but its not as if they're gonna stick their neck out any more

  • google "how to use paragraphs" …

    • google "how to use the reply button properly" …

      • google "do a barrel roll"

  • How did you make the payment?

Initiate a charge back or file a dispute to get your money refunded. Basis of claim would be non-receipt of item within a reasonable amount of time even though you have made multiple contacts with them to get your item.

That is what I would do.

    • Thanks Saty1296. Made payment by debit card, which was deducted immediately. I'll see what the response is from HN and then intend to do what you propose.

Yes, they even tried to bully my mother for bringing back a coffee machine that was broken, even though they sold her the showroom model. She was by herself of course and in her 70's, AHoles
