Googo Wireless Rechargeable Camera (iPhone/Android) $32.95 + $6.95 Shipping

80

Hi All,

Thought this might be worth posting (we try to post just the deals we think are "hot" enough for OZB). The Googo Wireless Rechargeable Camera - its a pretty cool little device, you charge it up via USB (cable inc) and it can be carried around in its own protective orb/shell. To deploy you just squeeze both sides and it pops open.

The REALLY COOL THING about this we found is the WiFi works directly from your iPhone or Android i.e. you don't need to hook up to an existing network, the camera shows up as a WiFi point named 'Googo Cam' or similar and you just connect directly!

Viewing wise the picture is good on iPhone, and sound is clear enough and quite sensitive. The Android app we found wasn't quite as good with the picture being a little less sharp than the iPhone app and on Nexus 5 v4.4.1 the app outright crashed. It was fine on Nexus 5 update 4.4.2 Dalvik mode (not ART), Nexus original, SGS 3 stock and Nexus 4 stock. So beware, some Android configs may not run the app. Yes I buy a lot of Android phones :P (love the N5!)

Anyway, more info on our website, limited time special, grab one while they last, they're a cool little item, in stock on the shelves and ready to ship first thing tomorrow.

ABSOLUTELY! Fixing that right now, let me get back to you ok?

      • U sell a product for iPhone n never tested the selling page on an iPhone ?
Will try again in few mins…
        Hope it's fixed..

        • We believe its fixed :) Let us know how you go - thanks very much for the valuable feedback!

  • so you cant use wifi while connected to this device?

    • G'day… no, it runs like an "Ad Hoc" WiFi device, you can cannot directly to it, but there's no option as far as I know to have it connect to a network. The idea being that when you are out and about you can put it down anywhere and not require access to anyone's WiFi router there, you can still use 4G etc. Hope that answers your Q :)

  • It is same price on eBay!!!
Rep, better give discount to make it count as a "Deal"

Hi, so it is :) It's the best we can do - we can ship tomorrow and you get local warranty - that's the value add potentially (vs ordering from China) ?

  • any idea why the app cannot be downloaded from the app store? it gives an error message saying its no longer available.

    • Hi, we just checked on both Apple & Android and found it by searching for 'Googo' - you may have misspelled it perhaps? Some jailbroken or "rooted" phones may be restricted under some circumstances with regards to what is visible on their respective stores (country setting / android release keys / region etc).

      • its there, but it wont download
i tried it on 2 apple devices

        • Phone is running IOS 7.0.4, not jailbroken, searched for (and found Googo), but both iPad and iPhone come up with message -
"The item you tried to buy is no longer available"

Ive also tried on an iPod with iOS6, same result.

          Anyone else had success?

Right now I've ordered a very small paperweight from you!

Promoting stalking/spying etc with something like this…? Kinda worrying how easy it is to put something like this in a changeroom

    • Such hate! Was just pointing out what it unfortunately could be used for in the wrong hands :S

Hmmm, cool gadget at an OK price and I'm trying to think of what I could use this for but can't think of much.

I suppose if the internals are lightweight enough it could be good to hack it out of its outer shell (voiding warranty of course) and throw onto a cheap quadcopter and use as a WiFi viewfinder drawing power from the copters own Li-Ion pack … maybe :|

  • yes really cool.

But what is this for? not enough description. Can you tell me some usage of this gadget?

i have this, it's only vga(640x480) no FHD but similar to an average webcam, i'm running on android 4.2, you turn it on(has battery inside but can also run tethered to usb port for power) you connect your phone to it's wifi network then run the app, app is simple let's you take snapshots and videoclips, but sometimes crashes for no reason :(
ps think of this as a wireless cam for your smartphone!

This would be a cool baby monitor using my old android phone dedicated as a screen. Too bad the app is a bit moody.

  • Get a copy of Presence and use an iPhone as your webcam
