Domino's Wagyu Pizzas Now $19.95 each Pickup or Delivered

90

Just got an email from dominos. Been wanting to try this pizza for a while, but refused to even pay $29.95 when it was on special from the rather outrageous $49.95 regular price. Can pick either the 3 way wagyu or the wagyu and hollandaise. No code needed
EDIT: As Feepitee pointed out in the comments, the wagyu pizzas are now being sold as each. The $29.95 special/$49.95 regular price was for 2 pizzas.

The $29.95 special included BOTH the Wagyu 3 Ways and Wagyu Truffle Hollandaise, it seems Dominos is now selling the Wagyu pizzas separately for $19.95 each, and this looks to be permanent.

    • Ah, well spotted. May have changed my mind for dinner now haha

    • +3

sounds like a complete waste of good wagyu if they do them like they normally do other pizzas.

      • +2

No one said it was good wagyu

  • So is it free delivery?

    • +2

Free delivery, but minimum order is $24 or something. So add the 2 side deal for $6

  • +1

do they ever do free delivery?

    Dominos….. Wagyu pizza…..

Wagyu mince will be far more expensive than regular mince but the difference in flavour will be negligible. If you want to enjoy Wagyu then have an exceptional steak, scotch or eye fillet. Cook it to perfection (everyone's idea of this is different be it rare or well done or however you like it). Dominos are great for cheap greasy food but don't expect quality or for them to respect quality ingredients.

Also double bacon cheeseburger pizza for the win.

    • The wagyu itself is legit, as has been reported by people who've tried it. The price wasn't though.

    • +1

True. And you can get crap wagyu.

IOt's like the trend of fast food burgers promoting themselves as "100% Angus." Big deal, Angus is just beef from a certain 9common) cow. It's still minced offcuts.

      • Angus does taste a bit better than their usual burgers (Macca's as example).Having said that, Wagyu is a bit of a waste on pizza and fast foods :/

Angus does taste a bit better than their usual burgers…

The secret ingredient appears to be salt.

You cant use mcdonalds as an example for anything related to good food!

  • It would have been good if they had offered the duet (both pizzas) at $19.95. I think it is the wagyu meat cost that makes the pizza cost too high

  • +1

Anyone tasted the pizza? Which flavour would they recommend?

  • Yep, have an amazing steak.

    Or a pizza.

You cannot have both at the same time.

  • Steak on a pizza. With another pizza on top. Steak, cheese and tomato sandwich!

More seriously, this is probably wagyu rump which while nice to eat compared to other rump, is not that expensive, at least enough to justify this kind of price tag and me imagining how much meat they actually load onto the pizza.

I have a few kilos of wagyu rump currently sitting in my freeze that I picked up for under $15/Kg.

    • more likely wagyu neck or alike. Yes it is wagu but once all the good cuts are sold for steak you have a fair bit left that is difficult to move (wagu brisket anyone?) this is a fantasic idea to still get a premium price for meat where the benefit of wagu is very little.

    • Freezing it causes the water in the muscle cells to expand and burst the cells, resulting in drier meat. Try and avoid freezing meat.

      • +1

The freezing of meat is not as bad as that. Yes there can be some quality loss but nothing that great. If I was enough of a meat snob to worry about the very small quality loss as a result of short term freezing, then I wouldn't be buying rump.

Freezing is fine is done properly, even with higher quality meat.

I stand corrected, and would like to post some information I have found that shows that freezing meat is in fact perfectly acceptable. I was of the opinion that freezing steaks was a bad thing to do, in that I believed it resulted in greater moisture loss when thawed and cooked. Your comment led me to do some research, and one of the articles I found was a thesis written in 2011, comparing various commercial and domestic freezing/thawing methods of various cuts of beef.

The summary reads, "Overall, freezing rate did not affect purge loss, and neither freezing nor thawing rates had significant meaningful effects on Warner-Bratzler shear force and sensory (properties) and were comparable to fresh-never-frozen subprimals".

  • regular price $49.95 for 2 pizzas($24.95 each)
new low price $19.95 so you save a whopping $5! bring back both pizzas for $29.95!

  • Knowing Dominos form and taste lately, this would be Wagyu Rat, not Beef.

Even @ $49.95 I'm sure it would give you diarrhea.

Wagyu is only beef, rat doesn't contain a capital letter, nor does beef.

      • -1

Actually, I was sarcastically presenting them as brand names, like Aussie Beef.

        Sorry for your confusion.

you should have used bold to highlight what you were trying to convey

      • +11

You should start a sentence with a capital letter and finish it with a full stop.

You know you've lost the battle of wits on the internet when you end up correcting spelling and grammar!

        • +3

          Not at all.
Most people regard poor spelling and grammar as a sign of a low-grade education or stupidity.

        • +1

Your view, the Internet is full of content that disagrees…

  • Am I the only one who's tried another pizza shop and therefore completely amused by this thread..?

  • surely these pizzas must be huuuuge for that price?
