I bought 2 of them from Officeworks for $6 before, the battery does not hold any juice so once you unplug the USB cable it doesn't work. Returned them the next day.

    • Yep, bought two last time they were on special, the battery on one worked but there was a problem with the screen and the battery on the other held zero charge…

    • I posted about this condition in the DS 99c ones with advice of what to look out for. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/106062

Dick Smith had similar looking ones for a dollar. They are not worth it even for a dollar.

This holds my vote for an almost useless product! With everyone having smartphones these days, it's such a gimmick.

This kind of item has been on OzBargain before and there was 100% consensus among all people that these are totally crap and a waste of money. Might as well open you rubbish bin and throw your gold coins in there straight away. Or you can send the money my way…. same thing really.

    • there was 100% consensus among all people that these are totally crap and a waste of money

The facts are NOT with you ;-)
(Just because you & others think something is crap, does not mean everyone else holds that opinion. And certainly no basis to rewrite OB history to agree with your views. You are saying I posted this product is crap ["100% consensus among all people"], which is the opposite to my posts.)

In fact, I can't find much criticism at all In posts, beyond a battery fault in old models.

Not a great unit - tiny with poor resolution. Probably not of interest or use to many on OB. But as a person who happily bought 30 & posted suggestions for use, you are wrong about the 100% level of criticism.

A major complaint was many (old stock) had faulty batteries. I posted how to identify the dud ones at DS before purchase.

Bought mine for 95c, but not worth $3.

i was just about to post the same thing .
It has a really bad resolution display , a useless interface for putting on photos , and needs to be constantly recharged .

But putting my sisters on it made my mum happy soo it was well worth.

to maintain good relations I would not put my sisters on a bad resolution device with a useless interface… they may think that it is a reflection on them or worse…. Thanks for the tip CaptKirk, but I will avoid.

    • needs to be constantly recharged

Not my experience with 30 of these cheap units. Just turned DS 99c one on after being away over a month - still showing photos. Not bad battery life!
      Older models had poor batteries.

useless interface for putting on photos

PC Interface is so ancient. From memory, you can only crop photos. But as I loaded the same set of photos onto all units only once, not a big issue. Photos need to be bright to show on these tiny displays - so lots of beach scenes work well.

(Handy souvenir of Oz photos for locals on my OS travels. They loved it in Japan. Got me a lot of free food & drinks for 99c investment!)
