Title is misleading, as stated it's really 300W RMS. Peak power is a figure that's achieved for less than a second.

It's cheap bass, but takes up a lot of room in your boot for little reward.

    • personally I find an extra level of bass in the boot rewarding "thats what she said" ;p

      • "peak power" is meaningless sales crap, it has no meaning in the real world. rep if you want to be taken seriously just simply dont quote it.

its as reliable standard of measure as RRP is…

Fully sic subwoofas are so….. yesterday.

Don't discount these until you've heard one fitted into a car! I did a shoot-out of a several sub-$300 SubWoofers a few years ago and was really blown away with the power & quality of output plus also the quality of the build too both electronic and cabinet-wise. I have built many Subs (big, small, cheap & expensive) over the years but the last was back in the early 2000s when standard car systems were still just crap so I had been out of the loop for a while but hearing what some of these cheapies could do really impressed me.

In saying that though it was hit & miss too and even within the Fusion brand there was one model that was excellent yet another that was just really poor so best to do your homework. Refer to those reviews here: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/28883-cheapie-su…

Maybe this is a great pack… maybe it isn't but best to reserve judgement until you've actually heard one which may of course be difficult.

Fusion must have really lifted their game because years ago when I was looking they were some of the worst in any price range.

(for the record I ended up going with a pair of MTX Thunder 8000s if that's any point of reference for what sound I was happy with)

We have neighbours that have cars fitted with huge sound systems. I can honestly say as a parent, peolpe who drive around suburbia with these things going are a pain with not much consideration for others. My one year old is continually woken up from "excessive bass" at 1 and 2 am all the time. I just dont get it obviously cos I'm not one of the Fast n Furious sheep… Baaaa!

and i think exactly the same thing when im outside enjoying the lovely peace and quite and some grotty neighbourhood brat pack start screaming there heads off in teh back yard for hours on end..

3 seconds of barely heard bass pumping down a road cant even be compared to the noise pollution given off by the local ferals, maybe you should move to a less "hip" suburb where your house dosnt touch the front footpath and the eves touch your neighbours….

So you 'neg' the deal on the basis of what occurs in your immediate residential area?

    • +1

you don't neg a deal because you don't like people who have subwoofers in their car. i think your useless stories about suburban life would be better suited to the kids you yell 'get off my lawn!' to on a daily basis.

    • So much sheep hate!

    • Ok this is definitely off-topic and has nothing to do with the deal itself. Let's move on.

  • I have the single 12 inch version of this active sub and it's great. It's quite a good all in one system so you only really need to run the power & RCA lines into the boot and its plug and play. IMO the single is just enough to giv eyou that big bass so i wonder how much more dual set will give you.

    • In my experience, none. From my days as a hoon/rice racer, AKA Turretto AKA Spilner, the rule of thumb was there was no real increase in SPL between 1 and 2 woofers, you need to go 3 for higher SPL, all comes down to the OHMS and if wired in parallel or series from memory.

If I had a car that I didn't need the boot for all the time (no Kids, just carry stuff for work at lot) I would investigate as its seems like a much easier way to go.

Also back in the day Fusion was always a middle tier brand though, except for some products…I am thinking Jonah Lomu subs and amps were their flagship range…which isn't really saying much.

      • yea i think your getting confused with parallel v series wiring. if its wired in series like a lot of cheap stuff is then your only getting 1/2 the power to each sub so then the SPL would be about the same, any descent setup would be running in parallel which doubles the SPL (not actually exactly double, just trying to explain it in simple terms)

the issue is that when you start running subs paralleled the draw on your amp becomes MUCH higher as the ohms drop. an amp rated at only 200W (at 14.4v and 4 ohms) can be forced to supply much more power than this with parallel subs. once you start running 1 ohm or less your multiplying the amps output by several factors so if your amp can drive subs down into 1/2 or even 1/4 ohm a 200W amp will actually be putting out into the 1000's of watts. (obviously only good amps are capable of this)

but i guess thats why ricers are different to enthusiasts, ricers just want crap on there cars to be seen as cool where as enthusiasts actually care about what mods they make, why they make them and the outcomes for each one… :)

        • Yeah, seems legit. That's the explanation that I wanted to give, but I couldn't remember/didn't know the specifics, so thanks for chiming in.

FTR - I was never really a ricer…I preferred to save my money, But I was 18 once as well, and all 18 year olds are (profanity) when it comes to cars and things of that nature, Maybe not for the entire time they are 18 but for at least a part of it.

  • It has high level inputs too which is nice especially with cars these days having integrated units and no rca out capability :( +1 for Class D amp. Would be good to know exactly what the hookup kit contains.

The most important thing about a sub is it's db Sensitivity and Frequency Range, and this one is rather average at 34Hz - 250Hz. No stated db rep?

    • sorry about the delay in getting back to you, i was waiting for fusion to reply to us, but have yet to receive any notification on the db Sensitivity and Frequency Range.

      many thanks
