  • Does this fit King sheets?

    • id say so with a 3.6m diameter, they should fit comfortably on the outer lines

  • Great Aussie invention.

  • Now we just need to find some goon bag specials.

    • GOON……OF…….FORTUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm building a new house this year have been on the lookout for a new Clothesline - cheers OP

  • Me too.. but not sure if I should just get the larger one..

Note that these are the plastic and metal version of Hills Hoists, not as durable or strong as the 100% metal old school ones. They sell these at Bunnings if you want to have a look at them.

This is a great deal. I bought one of these last week from Mitre 10 for $248, I think Bunnings was $228 at the time.

The box is a monster though (about 8ft long) so I'd be interested to see what postage is.

This one is rated for 4-5 person household, there's only one size larger that I could find, a 48.

Seems they aren't as solid feeling as the old style, however all are of the same removable type now and this was the best of the bunch I looked at.

    • Postage was $23 for me in Bendigo. I checked Melbourne, that was $22. I just realised how big this thing actually is. 3.6m wide, my backyard isn't much bigger haha

      • I thought the same where I put mine but when I pulled out the tape measure I had plenty of space, you need 500mm excess from fences etc. so a 4.6m diameter circle area all up.

There's a grey lever on the top of post that folds the arms down if you want when not in use, or you can twist the whole thing out of the concreted in socket if you want.

It seems the less solid design is a trade-off for having the ability to regularly do this.

  • Thanks op, been wanting to get this for a while!

i recommend a brick mounted one rather than this which takes up your whole backyard

My Australian-made Hills Hoist is 60 years old, and still going strong.
This one looks about as durable as a $10 folding lawn chair.

  • Managed to get one for less than $150 delivered earlier this morning. We are building a new house and trying to save every dollar possible. Thanks.
