[Used] Qantas Boeing 737 Full Bar Cart + Drawers 62,500 / Half Bar 47,500 Pts Delivered (Select Postcodes) @ Qantas Wine

1310

This deal from last year is back again but this time only 62,500 points instead of 84,000 points. It's currently half the amount of points it normally takes to get these in this current Qantas points sale.

You can also get them stocked with beer or wine but don't think that's good value as you can just buy it cheaper yourself.

NOTE: this item cannot be delivered to many postcodes across Australia (including WA, TAS, NT, parts of the ACT and parts of NSW). Postcode Checker

So other than flyers there was this use from last time:

Excellent. Another narrow tooling cabinet for the workshop, plus it doesn't dent the budget.

For those wondering why anyone would want them, they make great industrial cabinets for workshops. Plus its often hard to find narrow cabinets which are sufficiently robust. These are designed to be knocked around and still work well, with good brakes and fairly good ergonomics. I got a 747 one during COVID and use it to hold all my mill and lathe tools along with drills etc between the mill and lathe. Being wheeled it makes it easy to shift around to best suit the work that im doing, and being narrow means I'm not trying to fit a full 600mm cabinet between them and wasting floor space.

This one will do a similar job with my 3d printers.

Adam Savage does similar, see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wggcGPMtsR0

        I must be too sheltered.

      • +9

She better make it realistic and bump my knee with it then.

      • I came here at the right time.

      • +1

        Remember .. it’s used.
Blue light should reveal a complete lack of “foreplay”.

      • Are you going to get your man to tell you that they are out of hot food and only have deez nuts for your lunch?

      • You mean Roleplay

      • +1

        "would you like some headphones?"

"how did you know my name was phones?"

      • +13

Wait, you mean the planes I just bought for my new commercial airline GgUuAir come without these trolleys?

    • +1

well if you own a private plane you can use one of these when you have food in flight.

    • +12

buy these and resell them to virgin.

    • Put it in the back of a van and use it for catering?

    • +1

Mine is used as a hall table, its a talking point, everyone who comes into my home comments on it.
Has plenty of storage for crap and plane (incorrect spelling intentional) looks cool

    @Virgin Australia, Qantas is calling..

  • +9

This is Qantas sense of humour?

  • +48

Does it come with leaked customer records ?

    • +5

Probably. And free insurance, you have to ask for.

      • +3

There is a 12 month waiting period, if you've claimed customer records in the last year.

    • +2

Includes paper records in the drawers on delivery

    • Backup tapes

  • +2

    Why?

  • I am having a lot of trouble getting anywhere on their website today. They probably think ill want a discount for them losing my data.

  • +15

People who are into these points say a good redemption is at least 2c value per point.
    So 62,500 points is $1,250.
Looking around, that might be a bargain if they were in good condition.

OTOH, if you want to cash in points fast, and can't use for upgrades etc, they may only be worth 0.5c, so $300 if desperate.

    • +19

Wait, what!? How is this a bargain, then?

Even $300 seems way too much, these are HEAVILY used. Take a look at the full-size photo on the website, it looks even more beat-up and grotty than in the thumbnail.

I was expecting closer to 30 bucks.

      • +8

Agreed. Looks pretty gross / old / worn out. $50 tops

      • +1

these are HEAVILY used. Take a look at the full-size photo on the website, it looks even more beat-up and grotty than in the thumbnail.

Why would this surprise you in the slightest? I mean why else are they getting rid of them?

        • +13

You are reading his message wrong. He is not expressing surprise at their use. He is expressing surprise at their price, given their heavy use.

    • +4

Think that overcomplicates qantas point values, the value really is just the cost you pay on the secondary market (eg ozbargain classifieds) where they’re lately being sold/bought at 1.3cpp, so 62,500 points is $812.50

While you can definitely get better ‘value’ than that for business/first class flights, it’s a redundant calculation if you’d never pay that cash fare amount anyhow.

      • +1

Even that price is still way over the top for what its worth. Better off keeping an eye on auction sites and getting ex hospital drawer trolleys which can be had for <$200 most times.

      • Use to be 10cents per point?

    • You are missing the 'fun' aspect of the item. Some can argue you can't put a price tag on that, maybe live a little.

      • -1

Boy do I have some "fun" junk moulding in my garage, if people are this gullible…

    • +1

I dont have qantas points so I didn't have a concept of the cost here.

But then they charge 1722 points for delivery, equivalent to $9.90, so:

      47500 = $273
      62500 = $359

Ex-airline stuff is nice to collect and these would be great in the garage, but that's wayyyy too much.

  • +1

Great I can finally start training to be a flight attendant

    • +1

Step one: fill trolley with goods and go up the other end of the house from me. 2. take at least an hour to get to me with very small steps. 3. Say you are out of all food and that we are landing soon anyway

That is every domestic flight for me

  • +2

Does this fit e-atx? I can't find any reviews

    • Yes. But you have to use it for a network centre crash cart.

  • +34

Bough one, thanks op. Now time for a good deal on Boeing 737

    • -1

      Bough one

Why one and not tree ?

  • +8

Nathan Fielder has a few of these I reckon.

  • +19

A bit misleading….. it is not a FULL Bar Cart, rather it is empty

    • I did check that, because they used to sell fully-stocked bar carts.

  • ooo, i have a full cart but a half cart is tempting

  • Any deals on used Boeing 737?

  • +2

if you don't have enough money to travel so you can get a flight experience at home

    • Who doesn't have enough money to travel when Australia has domestic return flights for less than $100?

  • +19

Imagine listing junk for points, this is genius

    • +5

Personally I'm holding out for deals on old carpets and broken bits of interior trim, maybe a disgusting coffee urn too

      • Old attendants..

        • as long as you get rid of the cobwebs, old is gold

  • Too bad about the limited postcodes. I could do with a couple. Sadly too big for my plane 😓

  • +1

At 60000 points, they could sell the new ones to people

  • Can the half cart be opened from both sides front and back?

    • No.

      • Thanks. Would be cool if they can do that.

  • +2

    Pretty expensive movable sever rack.

  • +1

Half cart 42,750 points with Points Club Plus

  • +2

Wouldn't mind this but have far too many of them already.

  • +1

Can I take this onboard with me on my next flight?

    • +1

You have to check it in, its over 7KG.

      • Not if you strap a seat to it and say it's a wheel chair.

    • Only on BYO flights, sir.

  • +6

Ended up getting a half cart. I'm not planning to use my points on anything and I feel like it will be a fun talking point in my 'man cave'. Also a lover of planes and travel so made sense.

  • +6

Someone in Marketing is doing something right when they can spin some trash-bound old equipment as an expensive collectors item

  • This looks like something Puebco would resell for $1k each.

  • +4

Just a heads up, even the half carts are pretty big, I have one.
The other thing is these things are dirty as hell, you will spend FOREVER cleaning it up, mine had years of grime all over it, in all the nooks and crannys.

Still cool and I would buy again but just beware.

    • Wonder if you can just pressure wash them?

  • +1

Pictures don't show it - but assume at ~80cm in length, the full cart has drawers on both ends?

With the 30cm width it seems like it'd make for a pretty nifty mobile tool cart in the garage…

    • +1

Yes doors and trays on both sides.

  • as a qantas bronze member in WA, there is nothing to spend the qantas points on
