Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light Free on Xbox 360 (Xbox Live Gold Members)

640

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is free for Xbox Gold Members! It got some pretty good reviews. There's a heavy emphasis on co-op gameplay.

It's a 2.02 gig download.

Enjoy! :)

  • I have this on the PC. If you like physics-based puzzles and cheesy voice-acting, this game is for you.

You had me at cheesy voice-acting…

Don't forget to pick up the free Kane & Lynch character pack - http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-AU/Product/Kane-Lynch-Charact…

    • nice find. has this always been free? Did you notice it when browsing the game or via other means?

      • I think I saw it on r/games or something.

      • I noticed it downloading the game - it's on the same page as the game downloads under the DLC bit.

  • With the emphasis on co-op play, is that on co-op on the one console, or via Xbox Live?

    • you saw what happened the last time one of these games were posted didn't you?

I agree, free game for Xbox Live Gold members on the 1st/16th of every month. It's a routine feature of being a paid member.

If it was a weekly/flash sale, sure post it. This however is a feature of the subscription service.

As a Gold member I receive no email notification or otherwise. 75%+ of the free games are not my cup of tea, so don't appeal.
The only way I tend to find out about these free games is via the OzBargain homepage.

So if it wasn't posted you wouldn't check even though you know two games will be made available each month?

        • +2

You can easily forget that as there is no notification. Secondly even targeting Gold members, it is a great deal to get the reminder.
I missed one or two games earlier. But glad I got the COD Black ops and still loves playing the the multi player live one.

Fair enough, I don't forget free stuff. :)

        • I'm not too fussed about whether these are posted on the front page or not, but if you are concerned you will miss/forget a deal then a reminder on your phone twice a month will take care of that easily enough.

        • Wait a sec, they gave away black ops as free for gold?

        • Nope…

Most notable games given would be Assassins Creed 2, Halo 3 and Gears of War.

Scotty said it was fine to post these just like how people can post Costco deals. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/1776848?redirect=1

      • I don't think the point is that it's about a membership service, more that it's a routine feature of that membership.

        • +2

People still post those daily free apps from Amazon and they've always had positive responses. Seriously, why is there so much complaining about the type of deals? It's not spam and if you don't like it then move on. If the general community doesn't like it you won't even see it on the front page.

    • Once again, feel free not to click on it and scroll right on past this post.

I (and assume many others looking at the vote count) appreciate the submission.

Does this place really have to be a popularity contest when it comes to these sort of things?

Some of the other Tomb Raider games have been discounted too (not Tomb Raider 2013 though):

Thanks. Would have missed this one. I suspect that we will be seeing some pretty good quality games come out in the next few months to help Microsoft sell of the remaining XBox 360s in the market. My Gold runs out in Mid Feb so I really only have one more game to look forward to.

I'm happy to have gotten Halo 3, Sleepers, Lara and I think SSX snowboarding game in the last few months. Mostly thanks to people posting this as a deal and not the forums.

    Regards
    Daniel

  • I have this on the PC as well. I don't know how it compares to the XBOX version which was apparently the lead version, but I entirely enjoyed it. (And I was playing it on single player)

  • Does anyone know why it's asking me to add a credit card to buy this?
My gold membership expires on the 7/7/2014

    • Do you have a valid payment method still attached to your account? It will do a $0.00 transaction, so it needs a credit card there. If you have one already, I have no idea.

      • No, I never have though. I have "bought" a few of these free games in the past without having to put anything in :(

        • +1

The site will ask you for a credit card but if you 'buy' it on the console it shouldn't.

    • Some advice: buy your subscriptions from here: http://www.ozgameshop.com/xbox-360-points-and-subscriptions/…

Don't buy directly through the xbox as you're paying like $25/year too much.

Also, no credit card details stored by Microsoft/ Xbox (although Xbox security is admittedly pretty great - why you pay for it, unlike the multi-hacked, free PSN…)

I have only used a voucher code and it downloaded with no info straight from my Xbox dashboard.

  • Bought this one ages ago when it was on sale… Great game.

    • Well DLC is on special now dude, if you wanted it :)
